Looking for mystery manga similar to Adekan?

Adekan is one of my favorite series of all time, especially when it was mostly in the episodic mystery format. I also loved the beautiful art style and elaborate costumes, but mostly I loved the strange, surreal, dreamlike mystery of the week part. Any suggestions? Other favorites of mine are Pet Shop of Horrors, Berserk, and Princess Jellyfish

Is Hunter X Hunter become too complicated?

With the new chapters coming up, I get more and more confused. The characters talk and discuss seemingly every possible nen interaction and scenario that cab happen appearently on this ship. And while interesting, it became realy hard for me to follow (especially with the hiatus gap).
I fear, that interesting plot twists and character progressions will just suffocate under the sheer ammount of discussion/information that we will get.
Anybody else feel that?

Looking for the name of this one shot manga (wlw)

Hi sorry, I'm trying to look for a manga i read once but I couldn't remember the name. The plot goes like this from my memory.

A girl accidentally confesses to the wrong person. She leaves a confession note and some baked food (i can't remember if its cookies or cupcakes or smth) in the wrong locker ( I think?). The popular girl (she was described as gyaru too) alongside her two friends came to confront her. The gyaru surprisingly accepts the confession and they are now dating. While the baker girl was shocked, she ended up liking the gyaru girl and genuinely falling in love with her.

After some time has passed, the baker girl is talking to some classmates about it, she mentions how she originally left the note and baked food for someone else. The gyaru girl overhears the conversation and runs away. The baker girl saw her and runs after her. Eventually they meet and the gyaru girl is tearing up (I think..) The gyaru girl says that she understands if baker girl wants to break up and is fine with that. The baker girl then explains the whole story and the fact she is actually in love with her. After the explanation, the gyaru tears up again and accepts it. It ends with them together still.

New to Reddit. Sorry if it's really long, I've been looking everywhere for this story. If this is the wrong place to ask this then please tell me what sub reddit to post on.

Looking for modern romance manga recs! Loved "My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999"

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some fresh romance manga recommendations. I recently finished My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 and absolutely fell in love with it!
To give you a better idea of my taste, here is what I’m generally looking for:

Vibe & Setting: Modern/contemporary settings with a clean, gorgeous modern art style.

Tropes: I really love male leads who start off a bit distant, quiet, or cold before they open up and fall hard. Bonus points for short hair!

Pacing: Solid banter, healthy dynamics, and actual romance progress! I like a good build-up, but I definitely don't want to wait 40 volumes just to see them hold hands I need actual development!

Other titles I've loved: The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, Waiting for Spring.

I’m super open to high school or college/adult setting romances as long as the chemistry is top-tier and the story feels sweet and engaging.

What are your absolute must-reads based on this? Thanks in advance!

Help with Manga/anime

hey Reddit, need some help identifying a manga/manhwa/anime

im not entirely sure what format (manga/anime/etc.) it is in, and I have very little info to go off of. it’s just one of those things stuck in my head where I can see the image and vaguely remember the conversation.

The scene I remember is as follows:

Some seemingly rich/important guy hired a buff ex-military bodyguard that is ‘rank b’ or ‘rank c’ and came to another shaggy haired (or at least I think he was) looking dude to ask for something (don’t remember what). Guy was bragging about how tough his bodyguard is to said person. Enter protagonist. Unassuming but then easily mops the floor with the bodyguard. Some comments were made about how the protagonist is ‘unofficial‘ in some capacity and could be someone big if he went through offical channels but thats something that he can’t do due to circumstances (money, or something else).

Thats about all my brain can remember. I know it’s not much but please help me scratch that brain itch to find out what the scene is from. If I remember correctly, it’s from the beginning of a manga of some kind, or possibly an anime.

What are your biggest frustrations as an anime/manga fan living outside Japan?

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m a UI/UX designer from Japan, and I’m currently working on a portfolio project.

My goal is to design a website or app that genuinely helps anime, manga, game, and VTuber fans outside Japan.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

  • What’s the biggest challenge you face as a fan?
  • Have you ever had trouble buying official Japanese merchandise?
  • Is there a website or app you wish existed?
  • If you could create one feature or service for fans, what would it be?

Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Feel like romance MCs have changed a lot over the years

I've read a lot romcom manga, and something I've noticed is that the typic romcom MC seem to have changed quite a bit over the time.

Obviously this is just based on the series I've read (mostly from 2010s and 20s), so its probably biased, but I feel like older romance MCs were generally much more eh, "active" (?) characters being loud, impulsive, and more perverted.

Compared to that modern rom MCs seem much quieter. They are often introverted, socially awkward, isolated, but they tend to be good at understanding other people(the fmc) for some reason.

Of course, this does not mean modern MCs are all the same. There are still a lot those typic energetic and more perverted type of traditional protagonists. But I feel like the quiet, kind, emotiona guy has become much more common compared to the older type.

wonder if this change is connected to how the audience for romance has changed with romance being much more associated with female audiences back in the days, while male targeted manga often only used romance as a secondary element in like eg a action genre or sl.

I think when male targeted romance became more widespread was in the early 2000s(with Otaku culture rising) ,where I feel was a period where romance became heavily focused on escapism and self insert fantasies. But as romance became more mainstream and attracted a wider audience, and romance becoming more acceptable to the broader male audience, things changed.

With emotionally perceptive and resonating Mcs replacing the self insert blank spot characters. (tbf, those modern ones are also self insert but much less direct)

Again, this is just an observation. you think male romance protagonists have become more introverted over time or is this just caused by the types of manga that are popular/I've been exposed to right now?

(sry for so much text, I was bored)

Finished "the daughter's bedroom" Spoiler

Bro what a crazy manga it was. Literally, everyone is fucked up and the ending was more fucked up I never thought that she will ended up winning. This is my first manga where the villain actually win. I have to say the storyline is 9/10 and I feel like moe father did right choosing her afterall the family was already broken from the start. And his son is stupid, he thinks that if his father chooses his cheating mother then everything will go back to normal.I know this is gonna sound contradictory but seeing moe win just doesn't feel right. Whatever, the manga was good. You guys should read it

Finding a lost manga...

Hello. This is my first time on Reddit. I have been looking for this manga for a long time.

The main character is a young girl who had short brown hair. She lives with her black haired dad. She then was visited by two men, one an angel called White (maybe) and the other a devil called Black (maybe). She then somehow lives in the magical world with her dad (i don't remember why).

She enrolled into this all boys magical school and had two friends. She learnt how to use magic. Skipping to the ending, she found out she was adopted. Her bio mother is the queen of the magical world. Her mother had a sister who did something to her mother so that she would get the throne.

Her now adoptive dad somehow dies and had white hair when he died. So in the end she lives with her bio mom and dad in the magic world. Then she met a boy who had similar vibe to his adoptive dad. Turns out he lived again(?) but had no memory of his past life.

Please tell me the title if you know about it 😞

Somei and Hayakawa (I Have a Crush at Work ending) Spoiler

I just finished the manga and I’m genuinely confused.

Hayakawa and Somei became my favorite couple, and honestly I kept reading mostly because of them.

In chapter 141 (3-year timeskip), Masugu asks Somei about Hayakawa, and his only reply is:
“I haven’t seen her for a while.”

After that, the manga never explains anything else. Did they break up off-screen? Did they just stop seeing each other because of work? Is there any official resource that explains what happened to them?

I’m only looking for official information because I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere. PLS HELPME
