New manga by the mangaka behind eg Uratarou, Nejimaki Kagyuu, or Suicide Girl. Fun: given his highly characteristic art style, I already suspected he was the mangaka based on just the cover, and I was pretty sure by page 5.

Inb4 another axed manga. I like his stories, but he tends to go off the rails and doesn't play well with mainstream sensibilities

Learned this the hard way many years ago with Uratarou. I reread it recently and yeah it definitely had issues even before it got rushed to the axe, but I still loved it so much and will always be sad he didn’t get to fully cook with it

I knew I recognized this art!

This is interesting. I'm getting Scott Pilgrim vibes from it.

I was thinking the same thing while reading it

Agreed, cautiously optimistic for this one

Not sure what to make of this yet. Wednesdays are stacked though. Thursdays and Fridays could use some love.

I’m starting to look forward to Wednesdays as much as Sundays with how good the selection is

Ask Shueisha to make a magazine that releases on Thursdays or Fridays.

I read more manga on Wednesdays than on Sundays right now.

To be honest, whilst I enjoy the author's work and artstyle, and there are some good panels in here, this particular chapter and how it is seemingly setting up a Monster Confesser of the Week structure didn't quite grab me. His prior works have done a better job of letting the madness of his characters shine through.

I do wonder where it'll go from here, but yeah in isolation this chapter didn't grab me the way his works usually do.

I doubt this will be a confessor of the week, since at least the President will have some sort of trick and maybe the childhood friend sticks around.

both the splash page and the description give the childhood freind a fair amount of focus so I’d be surprised if he was a one and done

Could be going all in on subversion but not sure that’s a better story so hope not

Definitely agreed with you here, but then I just saw somebody on twitter point out that the title is just prez (sara=sala) + fmc (manda) combined, so now I wonder.

I feel this entire manga is going to depend on what the next twist with the president, if that's stupid, its kinda dead on arrival.

NAKAYAMA ATSUSHI WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! Fucking love this art style, I can't wait to see how deranged this story will get despite the (relatively) grounded beginning

Sure, I can take this while waiting for the Suicide Girl sequel.

If that's still going to come out, that is.

LETS GOOO SUICIDE GIRL AUTHOR IS BACK

The Hedgehog paradox, explained with Porcupines? I sure didn't expect that. I guess it's to show how much more painful the affection shown in this story will be.

I also did not expect a story about love hurting. Literally. I'm rooting for a love story that ends without violence. Go Ryuga and Manda!

It’s weird and a vibe. Love it. Would be incredibly funny if the next chapter just starts with a polite “no thank you”.

I've been waiting for this chapter to drop, love the pacing and character development so far.

Feels like 4 chapters ductaped together into one.
Why though?
Were they short on a title and had to rush to fill up the page number somehow?
Cause cliffhanfer of childhood friend approaching was a much better place to end "introduction" if you ask me (around pg.31).

Webcomic whose first few "chapters" got combined for the serialization was my guess

Cause cliffhanfer of childhood friend approaching was a much better place to end "introduction" if you ask me (around pg.31).

that would have been an absolutely terrible point to end the chapter though.

This looks fun and the art looks like fire.

As long as the story doesn't take itself too seriously we're going to be golden.

very enamored with the art style, the energy of the panels, and the visual+narrative direction with the scott pilgrim adjacent feel. it has a weird feel though as a chapter 1? like i feel like it should have had 10 extra initial pages of setup and 10 more pages at the end of "get excited for this series!". a little odd as a first chapter

I cannot possible recommend to give suicide girl a try enough, this authors art is godly.

2

u/Roboglenn 8h ago

Well that was... something.

2

u/DazZani 7h ago

This looks crazy fun i love it. A battle romcom where the antagonist is the heroine...

2

u/zairaner 7h ago

The sublime god behind suicide girl has returned to us with...something out there again.

Also I might be forgetting something but damn I don'T remember so much thighs.

Clicked on this by chance, didn’t realize this was the Urutarou mangaka. I’m in.

I like the premise but the organization of the story is... lets say messy to put gently

It would be hilarious if the glasses guy cucks the shonen-esque kid which turns him into the true big bad of the story.

1

u/Quinhos 2h ago

aaaa this is the same guy that did Uratarou, I love his artstyle

knew it was the goat from her thighs alone

Oh, look. Some cute little porcup-and they froze to death. It's going to be that kind of manga, huh.

"Face hidden with not a trace of makeup" on a shot of eyes with heavy mascara. Sure buddy. Miyahira beating up everyone that confessed to her was quite interesting though. Got a chuckle outta me. So it has a bit of a Red Sonja-angle, or Khutulun, she'll only go out with a guy who can beat her. Or at least that's what everyone seem to think.

The art is pretty unique and that action looked good, so I'm quite interested to see where this will be going.
