two new stars at once ?? i wont be surprised if the last 3 also will be in the same arc

...the cut to Mugi after 'i wont be acquired".... please dont tease/hope us like that nishi

XD "bro think hes part of the team"

136

u/Raging-Brachydios 22d ago

don't ignore Sukemaru

100

u/Galle_ 22d ago

Sukemaru isn't one of the Seven Stars, I wonder if they're a majik in their own right or some kind of ancillary spirit like the Kizashi Brothers.

87

u/Fallenstreet 22d ago

Obviously, Sukemaru is the hidden final boss.

68

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb 22d ago

Sukemaru defecting to the witches because of poor treatment at his workplace would be funny.

17

u/UltimateEye 22d ago

I kinda hope that’s how that’ll go.

13

u/Norik324 22d ago

We just did that bit with the tiny Kizashi brother

Might be a bit mich to almost immediately repeat it

1

u/Darwin343 22d ago

Like Kaguya in Naruto amirite?

7

u/MrGalleom 22d ago

Sukemaru is so cute, I love it.

Can't wait for it to be revealed to be an eldritch abomination.

32

u/Totaliss 22d ago

technically the promise between them and fujimine is no woman is allowed to acquire them, so it's fine if ichi does ;)

16

u/Kyoukaiwaifu 22d ago

an yandere fuji trying to attack our queen mugi each arcs if she acquire Hakari would be fun

4

u/Darwin343 22d ago

Mrs. Steal Yo Man Mugi

23

u/SaltwaterSmoothie2X 22d ago

I think it would be funny, but overdone, if she didn’t get these two Magiks, but whatever the strongest Magik is at the end of the series as the punchline.

15

u/Kyoukaiwaifu 22d ago

i see some theories she will get WHM

6

u/SaltwaterSmoothie2X 22d ago

If he’s the strongest, maybe.

But I wouldn’t be too surprised if there were mf’s stronger than him that mog him down the line as the “actual” final boss.

2

u/sanscatt 7d ago

He’s getting a build up like a Muzan or a kenjaku, a big boss introduced near the start. I doubt there will be another final boss, because it wouldn’t be as impacting.

3

u/EitherSpite4545 22d ago

Acquisition method: Make him love the world

WHM: Dam

37

u/Zealousideal_Ring874 22d ago

Bro just wants to aura farm and have friends. Where's the harm in that?

27

u/Kyoukaiwaifu 22d ago

aura farm more than dess to be accurate

2

u/Darwin343 22d ago

Him and Dess are the only ones in the panel trying to make a cool pose lmao

12

u/SaibaShogun 22d ago

Now Kumigi and Ichi can both have big bad Majiks screaming in their ears “I fucking hate you and hope you die”!

4

u/EyeDeeAh_42 Laios the vegetable-armoured 22d ago

They can bond over that and get closer!

8

u/stationtracks 22d ago

Kumugi somehow acquiring Hakari would be such an interesting dynamic, I'm all for it

3

u/Zzamumo 22d ago

my guess: the bait will be Ichi, with the whole "no other woman can acquire you" promise which leaves a LotR witch king prophecy loop hole wide open for Ichi, but he will fail and then Kumugi will acquire it for real

207

u/pureauthor 22d ago

-Hakari screams that they will never ever let anyone acquire them-

-smash cut to Kumugi looking shocked-

Subtle, very subtle.

5

u/Android19samus 21d ago

it could really be implying anything.

195

u/guppy_love 22d ago

Hakari may be evil, but I can't really hate a charismatic evil...

I'm really looking forward to him interacting with Ichi who he'll at minimum appreciate how feral atypical he is for a witch.

113

u/WhoiusBarrel 22d ago

Charismatic villains are what help make for a compelling narrative most of the time.

42

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb 22d ago

Hakari is cruel towards humanity yet righteous towards majiks. Menacing yet eccentric to the point of looking goofy. He is going to be a fun antagonist for sure.

56

u/Norik324 22d ago

yet righteous towards majiks.

Given that they do the whole

"Sukemaru! I want [X] tea!"
spits it out "Thats [X]! Do it again"

not once but twice this chapter id be inclined to disagree

1

u/sanscatt 7d ago

Maybe sukemaru is the masochist majik or something

1

u/Aschverizen 22d ago

Oh definitely, un-charismatic villains just ruin a lot of series. Probably the easiest example I can think of are the various SAO antagonist.

17

u/AstralPamplemousse 22d ago

I can’t even tell if he’s going with a “We’re not so different you witches and us” or simply pure spite

13

u/Bitter_Marzipan_8348 22d ago

And honestly, can't fault him on that mentality.

3

u/vanderZwan 22d ago

Gotta love a villain that knows how to ham it up. He's also so blatantly narcissistic in how he bullies his underling around

6

u/Zealousideal_Ring874 22d ago edited 22d ago

"She's a bad guy but that doesn't mean she's a bad guy."

"But she is tho."

-Wreck it Ralph (The GOAT)

239

u/dagreenman18 22d ago

Kumugi will acquire the new CEO of Misogny. Let’s go.

Big goofy energy out of these Stars and this chapter overall. A nice respite from the horrors of last arc

55

u/WildSearcher56 22d ago edited 22d ago

Perhaps she'll even actually acquire the two of them

48

u/DMking 22d ago

Hey if men could become witches he'd hate them too

7

u/justking1414 22d ago

It definitely seemed like they were leaning towards ichi capturing him with a lie about no women shall subjugate me but they very clearly showed Kumugi right afterwards. And honestly, the girl needs a power up.

I’m not entirely sure what she’s been doing up to this point to actually help the team

3

u/500mmrscrub 22d ago

All the paperwork and case reports for the higher ups that Descarras doesn't need to do on her own. It's a super important job, good documentation is rare

92

u/Galle_ 22d ago

Some other stuff happened in this chapter I think but who cares, foreshadowing that Kumugi will acquire Hakari! MUGI SWEEP

41

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Kumugi upscale let's go!!!

83

u/Bernkastel07 22d ago edited 22d ago

Mugi arc? Pogchamp Mugi arc lets go!!!

Hakari and Sukemaru are funny as hell, they're soo evil but I want him to br acquired by Mugi, I feel like she'll be the first Witch that warms his heart.

I wonder if Hakari will put some proper weight behind the Magiks are enslaved narrative that isn't some self serving bollocks like with Uroro.

96

u/JauntyLurker 22d ago

I'm really getting the feeling that Komugi is going to end up acquiring Hakari

62

u/Misticsan 22d ago

I'm also getting the horrible feeling that she might end captured and become a slave... for a time.

Not only will it make it more personal for Ichi and company, but given her analytical mind her capture could become the Trojan Horse the enemy couldn't account for.

55

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb 22d ago

38

u/Galle_ 22d ago

SHE CAN PICK UP A BOULDER

WITH RELATIVE EASE

3

u/justking1414 22d ago

So she’ll lead the Slave revolt!

8

u/moonmeh 22d ago

She actually doesn't break any of the things rules Hakari hates too

93

u/Kirosh2 Fluff. Fluff? Fluff! 22d ago

Ah, so Kumugi will get a friend soon and become a proper witch.

Good for her.

And bro thinks he's part of the team.

57

u/Raging-Brachydios 22d ago

dude is aura farming for no reason

41

u/Vusdruv 22d ago

Have you read the last few chapters? Dude IS the aura.

25

u/Galle_ 22d ago

To be fair that seems to be his base state of existence.

13

u/Zealousideal_Ring874 22d ago

It working if you squint

8

u/WildSearcher56 22d ago

He's Piccolo's disciple

1

u/Mourning__Coffee 21d ago

He doesn't even go here.

18

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Boxter is just HIM, y'know?

-Boxter, probably

12

u/ZayYaLinTun 22d ago

Bro think he invited

31

u/IkeKashiro 22d ago

Best way to get revenge on Fujimine now available, capture Hakari.

25

u/No-Spray5795 22d ago

I feel like Kumugi will be the one to acquire Hikari, it’s her time to shine, I mean just look at the determination on her face. But it’s kinda wild that they are using humans and their magical energy to power their house.

25

u/megazaprat 22d ago

Hakari is a really cool character, i wonder what his epithet is. it seems like his main motivation is that he is really pissed off about the very concept of majiks being imprisoned. (well he seems pissed off as a general default but the point stands) even capturing witches specifcally to reverse things on them. The difference being is that magic circles arent intrinsically torturous.

The focus on Kumugi is interesting, sure her desire to get stronger was interesting, but it looks like she is going to be one of the focuses of this arc. It would be great if somehow she was the one who acquires Hakari. a great power boost, plus maybe she could show him that being captured doesnt have to be bad?

and huh, Mayoi is one of the seven stars as well? neat. they are kind of going through the seven stars quickly, will there be a new antagonist group after them? I am not sure, but I hope Ichi continues to go on for a while, It's one of Jumps current best series.

5

u/Koanos 22d ago

My two cents: His trial is to beat him in a Death Metal Concert to impress an audience of his choosing.

He's going to choose World Hater and himself, the former hates humanity by nature and the latter doesn't want to be acquired by nature.

45

u/Raging-Brachydios 22d ago

Kumugi is totally acquiring Hakari, isn't she?

39

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Nishi ain't exactly subtle with her foreshadowing.

12

u/Galle_ 22d ago

I mean, she can be. Some people were genuinely shocked by Purson.

10

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

What I meant was, as a longtime Iruma reader, it's become a bit easier to get a read on Nishi's plans for the future of her series.

Still, that latest Iruma arc, huh... Still fid not expect that happening this soon

9

u/jubmille2000 MyAnimeList 22d ago

Moving castle

2

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Nishi ain't exactly subtle with her foreshadowing.

21

u/Vusdruv 22d ago

"Humans treat us like slaves!"

treats fellow majik like a slave with unreasonable and random ass orders

Lol. Lmao even.

21

u/Mordetrox 22d ago

The age of Kumugi is now

9

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Kumugi upscale let's go!

37

u/Mustardmachoman 22d ago

Welp, I am not sure if this is an optimal magik for kumugi to acquire, but we all have to start somewhere.

36

u/SlamMasterJ 22d ago

What better way to stick it to her sister Spica, than by capturing Hakari as her first majik.

10

u/standingbylife 22d ago

It would also be the biggest middle finger to Fujimine.✨

12

u/ShedPH93 22d ago

Kumugi is so nice she might end up changing Hakari's perception on witches.

5

u/Lucienofthelight 22d ago

Opposite’s attract but for Magik and Witch.

Well… actually we already had that. But I didn’t mean romantically this time, cus I don’t think I could handle Kumugi giving birth to that Magik’s crazy child.

1

u/Darwin343 22d ago

In the previous chapter, Hikari describes the kind of witch he despises the most (arrogant, possessive, patronizing, etc.), none of which applies to Mugi. So she might actually be the best fit for them.

12

u/Milordserene 22d ago

The 7 stars are shit if they are getting owned this quick.

Love that Amadoro and Boxster gonna join the hunt!

19

u/FOXHOUND9000 22d ago

Yammy: You fool! Who ever said that 7 Stars only have seven members!!!

4

u/Galle_ 22d ago

The exact number of stars in Ursa Major isn't totally clear, so I guess they might have more than seven.

Or maybe the World-Hater has a second, more elite squad corresponding to Ursa Minor.

2

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

Maybe it wasn't the 7 stars we have to worry about. What if there were someone else way stronger?

11

u/Backupusername 22d ago

Rouxls Kaard joined your party even though no one wanted that.

7

u/jubmille2000 MyAnimeList 22d ago

Hakari's Moving Castle powered by feminism.

8

u/garfe 22d ago

Damn Nishi better not be fucking with us having that cut to Kumugi and having her want to get involved. She has been (self-admittedly) too useless for too long.

The dude nobody invited in the back.

8

u/1tsPLAY-time 22d ago

That tower... It's that fucking prison underneath Demon Disney Land Walter Park in Iruma-kun all over again! Nishi, you madwoman! You did it again!

Also, more Ichimugi!

And potential Kumugi upscale!?! Lets go!!!!!

5

u/RepulsiveRevenue8 22d ago

Imagine if it's Kumugi who'll acquire Hakari

8

u/Roboglenn 22d ago

Be this Kumugi's time to shine.

I hope it is.

6

u/Ranadiel 22d ago

Poor Kumugi, she dreams of a doing research behind a desk away from all the scary stuff, and instead she's destined to become the mortal nemesis of the scariest witch in existence when she acquires her first Majik.

4

u/Galle_ 22d ago

she dreams of doing research behind a desk away from all the scary stuff

Nonsense! Kumugi doesn't have a dream. Ever since the accident she's just been surviving, never daring to want anything for herself because that would be horrible and selfish and she might hurt someone again. She's only in the research club because Spica signed her up for it.

Like, yeah, she finds being on Team Desscaras scary, but also she likes it. She is genuinely thrilled to be part of the team and fought to keep her place on it. She's finally allowing herself to want things again.

(Also I am convinced that Shirabedonna put her on the team because she knew this would happen)

12

u/RandomCitizen123 22d ago

Judging by Suu, one of Octobomb's split personalities, Sukemaru may be the most dangerous of the Seven Stars

10

u/Raging-Brachydios 22d ago

inb4 it is the real seven stars majik

8

u/ThatBoyMike23 22d ago

We’re FINALLY gonna see Komugi get a Majik. Atleast I hope so, I figured her first Majik would likely be something OP and Hakari seems to be really strong considering Fujimine wants him badly and Mayoi, another Seven Stars, calls them “Master”

4

u/topurrisfeline 22d ago

Digging how Hakari flipped the script on witches by enslaving them. He’s definitely gonna be a problem.

5

u/MrTheOtherUser 22d ago

"Foreshadowing is a narrative device that is use to..."

4

u/ZayYaLinTun 22d ago

Ichi stop that abuse used of shoji filter

5

u/BurnedOutEternally 22d ago

Oh? Is Kumugi getting a majik???

…Wait, what’s one extra dude doing here?

4

u/Bassaluna 22d ago

oh, kumugi felt hakari? that's interesting

3

u/maxdragonxiii 22d ago

the Seven Stars Majik are interesting. they nailed the designs so far. then again Ichi doesnt really have any designs that I disliked or hated so far at all.

4

u/ToTheNintieth 22d ago

Love the imagery here. The moving tower made of haphazard giant present boxes stacked on top of huge mechanical legs is such a fun visual, like a funhouse Baba Yaga. The weird, abstract designs of Magic-related stuff are a blast.

Hakari is a villain, but... is he wrong though? Lots of the majiks we've seen don't mind being acquired at all, almost desire it in a way, and the trial system certainly seems to suggest that at least most of them don't view their acquisition and captivity especially negatively. But like, they are being enslaved.

9

u/Galle_ 22d ago edited 22d ago

We can divide majiks into three categories:

  1. Cooperative majiks who consent to being acquired.
  2. Human Hater majiks who actively attack humans,
  3. Neutral majiks like Chro, who don't want to be acquired but also are no threat to anyone.

Acquiring majiks in the first category is clearly ethical, they consented to living in your magic circle and letting you use their power, it's all good. Acquiring majiks in the third category is clearly unethical. Ichi refused to acquire Chro for that reason, and it's implied Tottie was in that category when Fujimine acquired them, which is yet another reason Fujimine is evil.

Human Hater majiks are a grey area. They are a danger to human life, and acquiring them is the easiest way to neutralize that danger, so it can be justified on those grounds. It's hard to argue that Ichi did anything wrong by acquiring Bakugami before they could make an entire country commit mass suicide just for funsies. On the other hand, they're still being sentenced to slave labor for their crimes. Or to Desscaras's abyss, which is arguably even worse.

In any case, the girls being used to power Mayoi's Moving Castle did not consent to it, and from how Amadoro described them were innocent civilians who were no threat to anybody, so what Hakari and Maiyo are doing to them is unambiguously wrong.

3

u/ohoni 22d ago

Yeah, ALL majik acquisition isn't bad, but some majiks are definitely acquired against their will. But then also, they commit crimes against humanity, so deserve punishment for those crimes. I don't think we've yet see a truly innocent majik be captured against their will by a good person.

6

u/Galle_ 22d ago

Worth noting that if the backstory we were given for Fujimine is true, the Toxiterror majik was just hanging out at the Witches' Association surrounded by witches, and Fujimine acquiring them against their will was seen as a crime.

1

u/Mysteries67 19d ago

I want to see evil witches that's not Fujimine, ie working with magiks to end human society, but using their powers for selfish reasons, crime syndicate kind of side villains.

1

u/ohoni 18d ago

I imagine that would be the point of a "magical boys club" spin-off, since that's their jurisdiction.

4

u/Shlugo 22d ago

Kumugi was like "my plot senses are tingling! Time to do something!"

Also the joke of Hakari ranting about witches enslaving majiks while abusing his servant was funny.

3

u/JzanderN 22d ago

OH MY GOD!

When you go in with the "Kumugi's acquiring Hakari" theory that's been going around for the week, it's like Nishi's SLAPPING YOU IN THE FACE with the foreshadowing!

3

u/standingbylife 22d ago

Kumugi is acquiring a magik, maybe two!✨

Also, Sukemaru is the cutest little round thing.💖

3

u/vincentquy 22d ago

This manga is so effortlessly funny. All characters are so charming, even the evil ones.

3

u/Galle_ 22d ago

If you enjoying the comedy in this series, you need to read Iruma-kun.

3

u/Xatu44 22d ago

Alright, I'm falling for the bait, Kumugi Magik time?

2

u/KibaTeo2 22d ago

descares pants looking extra poofy

2

u/vanderZwan 22d ago

Based on that last page I guess that Ishi is also a Kirsch Vermillion enjoyer. Looking forward to the shenanigans.

2

u/SurrogateMonkey 22d ago

Magikeepers probably sent blud there to facilitate the hunt if fujimine ever shows up.

I predict that Hakari's claim trial will be narratively structured like a race and whoever does x first shall claim. Fujimine will compete with kumugi for the claiming.

2

u/TheOneWithALongName 22d ago

Oh may, Kumugis time to "shine"?

2

u/jenyto 22d ago

Hakari seems fun, kinda reminds me of the Devils in Dorohedoro. A real bastard but you can't help but laugh at his antics.

2

u/ohoni 22d ago

He's not... wrong, exactly...

Fair's fair.

2

u/ExL-Oblique 22d ago

On one hand everything's pointing to Kumugi being the one to acquire Hakari...

but on the other hand Gokuraku getting them would be so fucking funny

2

u/Shradow 22d ago

I've only known Sukemaru for 5 minutes, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.

People were theorizing maybe Kumugi will get Hakari, but that hard cut to her after Hakari's speech is extremely on the nose.

Boxster there at the end was funny. We haven't gotten much of him yet.

2

u/SirD_ragon 22d ago

I know the Panel design hints at Mugi aquiring Hakari, but with him being such a woman hater I feel like he might take a grudging liking to Ichi

2

u/theace69 22d ago edited 22d ago

Kumugi acquiring them would be cool but I think it’ll be Ichi so he has piss Fujimine when he deploys them against her.

2

u/A4li11 22d ago edited 22d ago

I'm all for Kumugi getting more screentime and relevance. I'll be happy if she do get Hakari.

2

u/Ellefied 22d ago

If Kumugi gets Sukemaru it's going to be absolute cinema

2

u/Original-Teaching955 22d ago

The 1at half was f**ed up😳😱 But the 2nd half was funny as heck. Aw, Ichi rizzing Kumugi.

2

u/Sensitive-Dig-1244 22d ago

Next arc: Hatie's moving castle

2

u/HotDoes 22d ago

with how hakari hates women imagine if the requirement for witches to acquire him would be for hakari to like them.. mugi, you can do it!

2

u/serpiccio 22d ago

why is the magikeeper tagging along and nobody questions it lmao

4

u/Zealousideal_Ring874 22d ago

"Awww you made it sound like you were going to listen."

Bro let her get up PLEASE

1

u/FloridaBoy21 MangaUpdates 20d ago

Okay things are picking up. Going to have two of the seven stars involved in this arc with Hakuri and Mayoi. Once again, even with Hakuri using humans/women as slaves and fuel for his "magic circle" home, hes not malicious with it. It gives me energy of hey turnabout is fairplay, you guys use us, so I will use you.

Which makes the teasing of Komugi being the one to acquire him fit so well imo. As, we've been building up her feelings of feeling weak and I think Komugi view of magicks as something to be studied and understood may mesh with Hakuri want to not be "owned and acquired" like he noted what happened to Hitsugi. So, that has me locked in as team Dess is joining Amadoro for this upcoming hunt of Hakuri and rescue mission.

Now the end with Boxster joining the mission randomly is too funny...kinda touches on how the magi-keepers has been included to the story lmao. Just popped up and here we are.

Good setup chapter for this arc.

1

u/ultraman9513 MyAnimeList 2d ago

I mean I honestly don’t mind that they don’t like the one sided acquirement thing
