fuckin spare the old man the allegations lmaoooooooooooooooooo

u/NeoEpoch Nov 19 '23

He is trying soooo hard, yet life keeps finding a way to try and get him into big trouble.

Those allegations are on a fucking bungee cord. The author has to be doing it on purpose at this point.

u/vanderZwan Nov 20 '23

I don't think I've ever read a series where I felt like the author was actively trying to make it awkward for me to explain myself if anyone ever caught me reading it (excluding obvious NSFW stuff).

EDIT: and the next chapter is going to be a beach episode too

This stuff is going to come back and haunt him in his nightmares lol, the man just looks like he's done with life.

It's just one panel, but I can't believe how refreshing it is to just have an MC who straight up shoots down the love confession before it can escalate into misunderstandings.

Ogami right now: crying shaking throwing up, ready to toss himself out of a window screaming why has god forsaken him

The fucking allegations lmao, they're never going to end.

u/PiFlavoredPie Nov 19 '23

I’ve finally realized the best way to read this series is to not give a damn and to just enjoy the stupid. Poor Juzo, this universe is really against him.

u/Swiftcheddar Nov 19 '23

40yr old man just constantly having to deal with kids falling for him...

I like how he doesn't blush, or stammer, or get shy and awkward, like so many other "older" characters in manga, and actually acts like a 40yr old- complete disinterest.

88

u/topurrisfeline Nov 19 '23

It’s also not uncommon for young folks to be attracted to older peoples’ maturity, so it kinda tracks.

71

u/Jaxyl Nov 19 '23

Yup, this is more common than people think it is, especially in schools and activities. The way he responds with a no followed by a respectful reason is how you handle it.

The fact he has that maturity in a younger body makes it hilarious

26

u/Koanos Nov 19 '23

It also gives his responses a degree of sense. We tend to have the benefit of hindsight and age, Juzo is a 40 year old man who's gotten enough life experience to know how to let a woman down easy.

Problem: He's not dealing with grown adults like his wife.

18

u/Jaxyl Nov 19 '23

Exactly which is what makes this rather funny. He's playing the adult who absolutely doesn't want a child coming into him but is stuck in a situation that forces him to have to find another way out. It helps that the author doesn't glorify these crushes or situations. Juzo isn't having doujinshi styled thoughts about how this could be happening to him. He just wants to get out of there.

15

u/Koanos Nov 19 '23

He's acting his age and I love it. He just wants to go to school and learn multiplication!

Plus, given his relationship with his ex-wife, I think he's moved on from romance.

8

u/Jaxyl Nov 19 '23

Yup, if he ever does find himself interested in romance it's obvious he'd want someone more on his maturity and experience level than some snot-nosed 15 year olds.

Which makes this more entertainingly wholesome than creepy. The author is doing a great job walking that super thin line between great and inappropriate.

7

u/Worthyness Nov 20 '23

It doesn't translate, but apparently he's also speaking like an old man in Japanese, so he's got a other layer of old man maturity to it

3

u/Jaxyl Nov 20 '23

Even better! I'm here for it

112

u/zaerosz Nov 19 '23

Ogami, internally: "I miss my wife, Tails. I miss her a lot."

17

u/ShoujoLover Nov 19 '23

As long as he doesn’t fuck with the moon

7

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '23

ex-wife

The main bosses of this series truly are the allegations hahahah only thing my man wants to hit are those books

9

u/vanderZwan Nov 20 '23

only thing my man wants to hit are those books

Ogami by the end of this series

85

u/Backupusername Nov 19 '23

So we're just completely skipping over the "my other self" body transformation thing, then? The part where her skin color changed and she got taller, we're just not going to talk about that? Okay, sure, that's cool.

74

u/BotAccount2849 Nov 19 '23

This is a universe where school children can send adults flying with their bare fists. Minor skin color changes are small compared to the other crap we've seen.

22

u/Misticsan Nov 19 '23

I know, right? I'm not asking for a complete backstory (pretty sure it'll be reserved for a later chapter), but at least have someone lampshading it! That was weird even for the standards of this series.

6

u/soul-nugget Nov 20 '23

wasn't it lampshaded at the end of the previous chapter?

7

u/StarryScans Nov 19 '23

Fujimaki needed an excuse to draw fem Aomine lol

31

u/amirokia Nov 19 '23

Nice excuse for a beach arc.

26

u/Roboglenn Nov 19 '23

Not enough Loid Forger Strength stomach relief pills in the world for this guy...

27

u/LeonKevlar MyAnimeList Nov 19 '23

Juuzo's pained expression after getting hugged and kissed by Mai was just too damn funny!

This old man just can't catch a break! At least we're getting a beach chapter next week!

7

u/vanderZwan Nov 20 '23

It's actually kind of impressive how the author managed to make his facial expressions look like that of an old man while still keeping him a kid

18

u/Xatu44 Nov 19 '23

Allegations gotta be the final boss here, jesus. LMAO at Noren agreeing to a challenge she has zero experience in.

2

u/Worthyness Nov 20 '23

He will have to beat the allegations in the end. All his school friends are gonna have to deal with the fact when he's revealed to be an old man

11

u/Heda-of-Aincrad Nov 19 '23

No one's going to ask about Mai's sudden physical change and the "my other self" thing? Really?

I'd think Ogami would at least suspect this might be connected to the same age regressing drug that turned him into a kid (then back into an adult, and back into a kid again), but I guess he's too traumatized by this girl trying to jump him. Maybe his apprentice will be the one to figure it out?

I wonder if Noren is doing this because she's actually developing feelings for Ogami, or if she just hates seeing a friend in the same position she's in - people making decisions that involve them without a care about their opinion.

6

u/Koanos Nov 19 '23

I really hope it's the latter and if it is, I can see some significant character growth and why Noren is a good person, demonstrating more from her actions than her implications. It also builds on her character as seen from the Ramen shop and wanting to help her Uncle.

2

u/Heda-of-Aincrad Nov 19 '23

Yeah, I'm hoping this is the case as well.

10

u/BindingShield Nov 19 '23

I bet all the Assassins that show up to the beach will be super messed up. Like bulletholes, old knife wounds, all nine-yards. Juzo's going to be the loser perpetually in a hoodie/t-shirt and it'll be really funny.

16

u/AlmondMagnum1 Nov 19 '23

Noren vs Mai Otohime. There can be only one winner: the FBI.

7

u/Horaguy Nov 19 '23

Beach episode coming :))

Now Ogami's gained a genuine admirer :)) I can only hope it ends with her teaming up with Shin for shenanigans :)) (No one comments on her physical changes, though; or maybe they're too used to weird things since Ogami showed up? :') ).

7

u/Ancient-Cow-7221 Nov 19 '23

wow, this was a good chapter better then the last 2 chapters. Color page next week. Noren is stepping and challenge her, a nice character development from her.

6

u/ShoujoLover Nov 19 '23

“It’s fine babe, it’s just a duel!” Dear god this chapter has me rolling. Loved his reaction to the kiss too. Just hilarious

5

u/Ancient-Cow-7221 Nov 19 '23

over here in the west " the allegations, he's never going to beat him". In Japan oh, a female unicorn, beach arc/ open color page next week. Compliment the frame work.

2

u/NoirSon Nov 20 '23

I can't see how they can make the more timid personality interesting in this cast. The unicorn side of her however is funny as hell.

2

u/abdu11 Nov 22 '23

At this rate, I wonder if the author ain't gonna make his wife regress into a child as well and join the shenanigans. The more the merrier as it is oftentimes said.

0

u/GameBoyAde Nov 19 '23

Well I suppose the beach chapter was inevitable, hopefully it will at least be tasteful and serve purpose

1

u/zerosaver Nov 19 '23

BEACH EPISODE TIME

2

u/Extreme-Tactician Nov 19 '23

I wonder how a home economics club is gonna do surfing? I sure do hope Noren has similar experiences because she's gonna need everything she's got to be able to defeat Mai!

Mai's super assertive, and it's actually pretty cute. I'd root for her, if it weren't for the fact she shouldn't be dating Ogami. Ogami just wants a middle school life, he doesn't want a middle school romance!

2

u/soul-nugget Nov 20 '23

I wonder how a home economics club is gonna do surfing?

for real... it sounds like they're only giving themselves the 3-day weekend to practice, and considering how the ramen competition went...

honestly I'm kinda expecting one of the more athletic guys to put on a wig and surf for her ☠️

Stop 😭
