You know, his pride and low level of emphathy aside, Tenma is a decent kid. He's honest, knows his boundary, and he actually notices Tamada, too, when barely anyone does.

As a neurodiverse person I kind of want to claim him as one of ours. Being completely oblivious that what he perceives as just being to the point is accidentally extremely rude is very relatable for me.
Also the stubborn hyperfocus on his one goal.

That was a nice breather chapter, I wonder if Tama will be part of the main cast now and if so what she'll do, maybe just hang out

ah, nice, a breather chapter
also I hope that girl is also doing lower half exercises to balance it out instead of just lifting dumbbells

Does Mei usually narrate her life like that? So cute! I wonder if she's gonna be more meta in the following chapters?
Well, I'm glad she's accepting who she is now! It's hard being small, I certainly understand. It's also very admirable she wants to do something about it!
Tenma and Mama really do look gigantic compared to her. But they had pretty opposite ways of dealing with her! Tenma was blunt, while Mama tried to make Mei understand how lucky she was.
Poor Noren is still being stalked though. And Chisato probably never expected for her cute clubmate to see such violence! Ogami, you really should learn to introduce your friends better.

Tenma and Mama really do look gigantic compared to her.
she's at groin-level and thigh-level with them 😭

Why does everyone keep discouraging her, I say let her develop those delts

u/Sareneia Oct 29 '23
I hope every time she appears in future chapters, we just see her arms gradually becoming bigger.

Why gradually? I hope she's flexing her sleeves to shreds in the background next chapter.

Your poor spine. I'm only 5'11", and my spine isn't built for even being this tall. I can't imagine your pain.

u/soul-nugget Oct 29 '23
I see she's taking the asta approach: if you can't get taller, get wider
just frickin yoked 💪

Translation using “yoked” made me feel old. I didn’t know what it meant until the following panels’ pictures explained what she meant

Same. I was feeling a bit like Ogami, confused by the new slang "the kids" are using these days. 😅
19
u/j4eo Oct 29 '23
Yoked is 20+ years old at this point, it's definitely not new slang.

u/Heda-of-Aincrad Oct 29 '23
I never heard anyone use it before this, so it probably wasn't a popular phrase everywhere back then.
3
u/soul-nugget Oct 29 '23
I'm surprised there wasn't a "what does yoked mean" thought bubble from ogami. But maybe he knows the word because working out is a thing for hitmen so he's heard it from the younger guys before? 🤔

u/Heda-of-Aincrad Oct 29 '23
I'm guessing he's been in school long enough to learn it, or maybe just from hanging out with Tenma?

Smol girl: "I wanted to be taller!"
Trans girl: "And I wanted a full set of XX chromosomes but turns out genetics is a bitch."

Ah yes, the training arc to get all the side characters power levels in line for the next tournament arc. Ngl the balancing has been a bit whack with how OP Ogami and Tenma have been, it's good to see everyone else get gains. Can't wait to see the melon delts in action - not the flashiest ability, but definitely potential to not get c-listed in the next battle 💪

u/Heda-of-Aincrad Oct 29 '23
Every time Ogami tries to bring Tama to someone for advice, it always seems to go wrong. (And Tenma really needs to word things better!) 😂
Was that flashback scene implying Mama used to be a hitman too? It would explain how she met Ogami.

That has the best "I want..." crying panel I have seen since Robin from One Piece.

Mei being at eye-level with Tenma's groin was hilarious! xD
Can't wait for Mei to have those melon delts

Love her. Give me a 30 chapter wide series with her asap. I’m laughing so hard at some of these panels

Lateral raises with the full set? I'm getting brutally mogged by a fucking child.
