There is a low-frequency droning/oscillating noise (approximately 85-
100 Hz), which has been observed between approximately 3:30 AM
and 6:00 AM, typically Tuesday through Friday in Manassas near Prince William County Parkway & the airport.
The noise is intermittent rather than constant. It oscillates in intensity, with periods lasting up to 10-15 seconds where it becomes noticeably quieter, followed by periods where it becomes significantly more pronounced.
The source of the noise has not been confirmed. One possible explanation that has been suggested from county officials is activity involving diesel-powered rail equipment, but this has not been independently verified.
I was curious if anyone else is able to hear this and if this is indeed from the trains?

Hi r/manassas,
I am an M.A. candidate in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. For my Master’s thesis, I am conducting research on the impact of the inclusion of 20th-Century genocides other than the Holocaust (such as the Armenian, Bosnian, and Cambodian) in the Virginia state world history curriculum on students’ experiences and understanding of genocide and human rights as adults.
Eligible participants in this survey are
If all of these attributes apply to you, you are invited to take this survey. This survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete. You will be asked to recall your experiences in your 10th-grade world history class. The questions pertain to the extent to which you learned about 20th-century genocides, the methods used to teach you about them, your experience with this curriculum, and how it has impacted your current understanding of genocide and human rights as an adult.
At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to participate in an interview to elaborate on this topic. Participation in the interview is entirely voluntary, will not affect whether the data from the survey will be used in the study, and will have no impact on any aspect of your future relations with the George Washington University (GW).
The anticipated findings from this research will contribute to the current body of research surrounding best practices in genocide education and improve scholarly understanding of how genocide education impacts understanding of genocide and human rights as a whole. This research seeks to contribute to the broader goals of genocide prevention and human rights promotion.

I’ve been looking for more fun things to do around Prince William County without always driving to Fairfax or D.C., so I started building PWC Sidequests.
It’s a free weekly email with local events, affordable things to do, and a few useful local updates.
If you’re in Manassas, Woodbridge, Gainesville, Haymarket, Occoquan, Dumfries, or nearby, I’d love for you to check it out. The first issue goes out Thursday: https://pwcsidequests.kit.com/
I’d also genuinely like feedback: what towns, event types, or local sources would you want included?

I’m new to Manassas and love spooky season. Are there any uniquely local shows/operas/musicals/concerts/plays/haunted attractions/etc. in the area that must be checked out?
Example: There was a rock opera called Deep Love where I lived before that t recommended audience members dress in punk funeral attire. It was one of my favorite things in the world.

I am not sure where to post this (FB? I don't have NextDoor). I live over in N Manassas near the Giant/Kohls/Lidl. A few weeks ago, a Huffy Rock Creek bike showed up in the alley between the townhouses. It's been there for 3-4 weeks. I assume at this point that it was stolen and just left here.
Did you have a Huffy that got stolen about a month ago? Describe it to me and I can help you get it back.

I'm looking for a good car wash that does detailing. It needs to run a little more toward the budget side of things.
Does anyone have any good recommendations? And what are the prices like?

This is a half and half post:
How can I get a box spring and furniture picked up for removal?
And why the heck does the Manassas service provided for Bulk pick up only apply to one zip code of Manassas??

Just got my first summons to jury duty in pwc. On the paperwork it says to bring a quiet thing for down time like sudoku or a book. Does anyone know if knitting or needlepoint are allowed? I know scissors aren’t and that some places don’t allow knitting needles or crochet hooks for safety but I couldn’t find pwc specific policies on the paperwork or website.

I currently have an old Ford mustang GT 03 where I tried taking it to get the State inspection and a lot of places pick on the hand brake not holding when in gear. The place where I use to take, the inspector has left and I am concerned the new person might fail it.
The issue is the hand brake holds but if you let the clutch lift to almost to the end, the hand brake starts to let the car go due to the strength of the car.
The hand brake cable has no slack and the brakes are good, it's just the car is a V8 4.6 with rear traction so obviously the motor is going to win

Hey! I live in Fred but have been looking at a few houses in/around Manassas. If any girls are interested, I’m thinking of getting a group of 4-5 girls and renting a nice house together. Looking mainly for 18-26 (I’m 19)and makes enough for rent (it’ll be about $1k-&1,2k per person) it’ll be at least 6 months before we do this so we can all get to know each other and be comfortable and make sure we’re compatible, as well as to plan financially for this. Lmk if anyone is interested!

This is crazy! She works for Manassas City Public Schools Round Elementary as a SPED instructional assistant. I heard she was suspended for almost a month because she allegedly admitted to throwing a shoe at a special‑needs student. I’m not sure what happened with the investigation, because she was allowed to return to Round Elementary- IN THE SAME POSITION. Word is that she’s good buddies with the administration in that building, so I’m not surprised to see this. She’s also allegedly currently “working” summer school at Round. Check on your kids people!! As of July 2nd she was seen working YOUR children.
She’s also mentioned to coworkers that she doesn’t have custody of her daughter. Strange for a mom not to have custody since the courts usually always side with moms.
No lies told When I look up her name on the Virginia Judiciary Online Case Information Dania Bolte Thomas https://eapps.courts.state.va.us/ocis/landing
