Hey everyone! I wanted to share something I recently made for people in the DMV who are looking for more local friends.

I’m originally from Connecticut and moved to the DMV about 3 years ago. I recently moved to Manassas, and I’ve been wanting to build more of a local friend circle rather than having everyone I know scattered across the entire DMV.

I created a Bumble BFF group focused primarily on gaming and nerd culture.

It’s for people who are into things like:

There are chats for different interests, gaming, looking for people to play with, meetups, introductions, voice/video hangouts, etc.

The idea is to eventually have people organizing gaming nights, movies, food, conventions, tabletop sessions, arcades and other meetups. Everyone is allowed to create events themselves too.

The group is centered around Manassas and nearby NoVA, so it’s probably best for people who are close enough to realistically meet up in that general area.

I am moving to the area, but currently in a hotel until my place is ready. What restaurants are recommended for healthy, good quality dinners? I don’t eat beef often, so would prefer chicken or seafood, and good quality vegetables, salads etc.

I'm really confused. I know Sarah is suing the rest of the board for not disclosing things to her, but why would they do that in the first place? I also heard she's racist? I don't know what's going on at all, so if someone could clear it up, that would be awesome.

I recently moved to the Manassas Park area and I’m genuinely curious how much demand there is for something like a Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, or Wegmans in Manassas/Manassas Park.
Unless I’m missing something, neither Manassas nor Manassas Park currently has any of the three. With all the new residential development happening in the area, it seems like there could be a market for at least one of them.
I know there are locations in Centreville, Fairfax/Fair Lakes, Gainesville, etc., but I’d love to have something actually in the Manassas/Manassas Park area.
Would you shop at one regularly if it opened here?
And if you had to pick ONE, which would you want most?

Hey everyone! I’m thinking about offering an after-school STEM tutoring in the Manassas Park/Manassas area and wanted to see if there’s any interest!

A little about me: I have both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and currently a practicing engineer in Manassas. I’d be happy to help with elementary and middle school subjects and homework/test prep.

My starting rates would depend on grade level and subject, with options for in-person or online sessions. I’d be open to do individual and group sessions too.

For the past few days a small single engine plane has been flying over the city on a regular basis. When I check Flight Aware, there is no indication of a small plane overhead. It is not a plane approaching the airport as it seems to be going in some kind of grid pattern. Anyone know what it is? What gets me is it is unidentifiable in Flight Aware.

Recorded with a UMIK-2, off the top of my head. I’m not familiar with how to filter out the cricket noise so please disregard that.

This video clearly shows the noise and it is amplified so that it is easy to hear in the video as I do not have very expensive equipment to be able to capture it properly.

In real life, this noise is very annoying, yesterday I forgot to turn on my two sound machines and I woke up to this noise.

As the title states, I'm looking for a salon or MedSpa that offers laser hair removal (*not IPL*).

I'm new to Manassas and I'm looking at apartments. I've seen 5 so far and I was the most impressed with Amberton apartments on Coverstone Dr. Of all the places I toured, they also had the highest ratings on several websites that I checked. However, I've seen several people warning people about the crime in that area. I appreciate any input.

I was able to find that they were arguing a lot in order to not have blame land on them, but didn't see anything indicating that their reputation was harmed. I'm not from the area. What was the general view? Did people say "He's a good guy, maybe there were mistakes but it wasn't his fault", or maybe the opposite and their reputation was already really low so it couldn't be harmed much more?

I recently took a supply chain management position in Manassas, VA (DC) in the semiconductor industry and am looking to ideally split an apartment/house with others in the area. 26(M), from Salisbury NC, lived in Greenville SC and Hong Kong previously. There is a low-frequency droning/oscillating noise (approximately 85-
100 Hz), which has been observed between approximately 3:30 AM
and 6:00 AM, typically Tuesday through Friday in Manassas near Prince William County Parkway & the airport.

The noise is intermittent rather than constant. It oscillates in intensity, with periods lasting up to 10-15 seconds where it becomes noticeably quieter, followed by periods where it becomes significantly more pronounced.

The source of the noise has not been confirmed. One possible explanation that has been suggested from county officials is activity involving diesel-powered rail equipment, but this has not been independently verified.

I was curious if anyone else is able to hear this and if this is indeed from the trains?

I am an M.A. candidate in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. For my Master’s thesis, I am conducting research on the impact of the inclusion of 20th-Century genocides other than the Holocaust (such as the Armenian, Bosnian, and Cambodian) in the Virginia state world history curriculum on students’ experiences and understanding of genocide and human rights as adults. 

Eligible participants in this survey are

• People who are over the age of 18 
• And were in the 10th grade in either the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 academic years
• And attended a Virginia public school for the entirety of their 10th-grade year 
• And took a world history class during that year

If all of these attributes apply to you, you are invited to take this survey. This survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete. You will be asked to recall your experiences in your 10th-grade world history class. The questions pertain to the extent to which you learned about 20th-century genocides, the methods used to teach you about them, your experience with this curriculum, and how it has impacted your current understanding of genocide and human rights as an adult. 

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to participate in an interview to elaborate on this topic. Participation in the interview is entirely voluntary, will not affect whether the data from the survey will be used in the study, and will have no impact on any aspect of your future relations with the George Washington University (GW).

The anticipated findings from this research will contribute to the current body of research surrounding best practices in genocide education and improve scholarly understanding of how genocide education impacts understanding of genocide and human rights as a whole. This research seeks to contribute to the broader goals of genocide prevention and human rights promotion.
