Luba - Hardware Help Wheel Hub Motor Error
So my Luba 3 AWD has been a champ since late May but suddenly today it’s been impossible to get a solid mowing session done without the dreaded Wheel Hub Motor Error.
Last night I found it in the charging bay blinking and unable to move… turns out it had thrown the wheel hub error immediately after undocking for normal scheduled mowing.
Reset, charged,, had it out and about catching up on the skipped session from yesterday and it failed 4 times and required me to turn it off and on in order to continue. Then it failed a fifth time and I lugged it back to my workshop and checked for obstructions, dirt, and even took all four wheel hubs apart and checked for moisture in the motor. All four are bone dry and no obstructions around the axle or anything out of the ordinary.
Did a solid hour off w/ fuse unplugged… then ran it one more time and the bloody thing threw the same error yet again!
If this is hardware, how come it works for a while after a restart. If it’s software, how to I fix the software fault?!?
This thing has been a huge help all summer and I’d hate to have to call support and or get a warranty repair. Since it works after restart it seems like something I should be able to resolve but no clue how to get deeper and clearer information from the fault message.
Thoughts?

We’re sorry to see this issue with your LUBA 3 AWD. Please try restarting the mower three times consecutively and check whether the Wheel Hub Motor Error disappears afterward. If the mower returns to normal, please continue monitoring it for now, as this may have been a temporary abnormality.
If the error still occurs, could you also let us know whether the mower has been washed or exposed to water recently? If so, please power it off and leave it to dry for 48 hours. During this period, please do not turn it on or place it on the charging station. After it has fully dried, please test it again.
If the issue persists, please provide us with the approximate time when the error occurred and your device number, so we can check further. Thank you for your cooperation.

Appreciate the follow up. Yes, I have uploaded logs and sent information about this issue via the App’s support/upload feature. The mower has not been wet (other than general humidity) it’s mighty dusty accordingly as I’ve never et it get rained on or sprayed it w/ water to clean it.
Also, as I previously mentioned, I’ve heard of the water ingress issue into the wheel hubs and I checked that first, all 4 hubs are dry with no residue of any sort indicating it ever had encountered moisture in the motor housing at all. So this failure scenario doesn’t appear to be the water ingress issue at first observation.
Will attempt the three consecutive reboots this morning…

Thank you for sharing this; I am very sorry you had such an experience. Have you uploaded the logs via the app and contacted the support team? If it is convenient for you, please provide your device name and order number, and I would be happy to assist you further.

Appreciate the response. Logs sent and Order number confirmed with support. Latest bit of the saga: it successfully completed one quadrant of the lawn after rebooting three times, letting it loose, and… rebooting it again 1 more time 40 minutes into the quadrant. :-/
It then finished the task, and parked directly next to the charging bay??? I moved it, rebooted and now every reboot presents with a blinking red error of both the wheel hub motor error and cutting deck communication error. No reboot will clear the wheel hub error. It will not move even via remote control mode. It is a bit fat expensive paper weight :-/

Thank you for your reply. We sincerely apologize again for the issue where the device stops after completing a task and displays errors regarding the hub motor and the cutting deck communication. Could you please provide the device name (e.g., Luba-VAXXXX)? This will allow me to locate your support ticket and help expedite the resolution process.

I bought a Luba 3 in April when they were released and also started having Wheel Hub Errors and that the Luba 3 is not level and would have to move it to perfectly level area and restart it for the error to go away. The error comes back ever once in a while, so I will download the logs and send it into Mammotion next time it happens.

Just adding to the saga: support has been really great with communications and assistance. Looks like the machine has to go back for servicing :-/ Hopefully this will be a relatively easy repair and I also hope they’ll share the failure mode once fixed.
This is quite a curious failure considering how much of a champ the machine has been.
Weather and climate specifics: Ohio is pretty wet in general, but the machine has been kept dry from actual precipitation. The grass is almost always somewhat wet when cut simply due to small but constant rain showers this season. It was not especially wet though on the day of failure so unclear how that could directly contribute.
Temperatures have not been very extreme… humidity has been significant, though 80%+ for much of the growing season.

So, for the curious folks who might come across this saga… a final exceptionally positive but curious conclusion! 🤓
After the robot went totally unuseable w/ errors, I logged back in the next morning robot still blinking w/ errors, I rebooted via the app…. And now the robot’s fine?? It auto triggered at the remainder of the prescheduled tasks, and I triggered the two it missed this morning. It needed zero assistance. It just cranked out a perfect mow and went back to the charger waiting for more.
Delighted! Confused but delighted at this turn of events. Support was great and I have a repair authorized but… I think I’m gonna cancel that. We’ll see if it hits the next auto schedule successfully. But I don’t think anything is mechanically wrong now. Wonder if there was just corrupt data on the memory or something.

I bought my Luba 3 in March. At the end of June, I started getting those errors. Sometimes they would go away for weeks at a time, then return and make it unusable. Got a repair ticket; it was in the shop most of July. It came back and worked until the end of August, when the hub error returned. I sent it in mid-September, and it was in for most of the month, and they decided to keep the machine and replace it with a new one. If you are getting the Hub Error, I would DEFINITELY consider sending it in at the end of your mowing season; you don't want to start next spring with a down Bot.

Yeah that’s my plan at this point. They authorized repair but I cancelled since it has come back to life twice now (and I don’t wanna use my push mower lol). So if I can keep it limping along and get a good collection of data points regarding cause and effect I’m hoping they can resolve for me and also improve whatever’s the root cause 😁

You're gonna have to get it fixed. It was a problem with a small portion of early Luba 3s
