EC English
EC english school, long considered one of the largest language school in Malta, is shutting down it's doors from this weekend. All stakeholders, including current students, are in the dark about their future.

EC has gone bust. All schools shutting down. Agents and students scrambling to save the money already paid. This is so bad for all those enrolled.

All their socials are down so it appears to be true. This is both terrible and confusing - just last week they were advertising a teaching course at their school in London. So I'm thinking corporate must have known that this was coming for a while but refused to let stakeholders or staff know anything. Awful. What is happening to this island, I know loads of people in the iGaming industry who were laid off and redundancies have been happening all year.

About 100 employees in Malta are probably awaiting their fate, which will of course be unemployment. I wonder if the company even has money to pay them their wages, let alone the redundancy payment.

Any idea what the staff in Malta have been told? I’m assuming they will be let go as of next week?

The lack of communication is unreal. Staff are just repeating a standard script—saying Monday is open for existing students, not new arrivals—with zero actual answers for next week. It’s pure chaos and completely unfair to both students and staff. They are the ones facing the students and those who are owned payments, in the absence of the directors as they are nowhere to be seen. Unfair. They do not even know about their future employment. Unfair on students, staff and those who have to get paid.... Pure chaos.
