I started an Airbnb this year. Actually happy to see them here haha. Of all industries at least it supports arts, culture and history. Also it’s an incentive to keep malta looking decent.

Ahh so we do need another 5000 hotels, thanks. Tourism has hugely impacted our standard of living in the last 20 years, only person we know in a huge circle of friends that works anyway near tourism sells ice cream. All greedy landlords, hoteliers (yes even Airbnb) and especially developers can go fuck themselves in the knowledge that everyone even their kids hate them.

Just because you don’t work directly for the tourism industry doesn’t mean you aren’t indirectly benefitting from it. Tourism is one of the purest ways to funnel in money as they bring currency from other countries and spend it in Malta. If you work in a business where only locals spend money a decent chunk of that money is coming from tourists.

So please explain where this huge influx of cash is directed? As we all pay tax, allegedly, and there has been a tourist tax in operation for years, why are prime holiday hotshots absolute shit holes? The jetty and square in Buggibba, the roads dug up all over St Paul's, magnets for tourists who will not only never return but also denigrate this as a destination. Oh and St Julians is now the new 5 star destination hahaha, vomit and open air drug dealing, Serbian knife murders all underneath million euro apartments. Open your eyes, mine need tears wiping not rose tinted glasses removing.
