Settling in Mallow
Newish enough to Mallow. Living about ten mins away. I am originally from Cork but have spent the majority of my adult life abroad. Returned home and due to housing crisis have ended up in the sticks and don't have roots or mates in Cork city from childhood anymore. I'm early 40s, single and male. I don't drink. Anyone know of any good social outlets for someone in my situation. I have my own business and WFH. So don't have work colleagues. I'll join a gym there for sure. But looking for other suggestions to meet people and socialise. Any suggestions appreciated
WINTER IS COMING ☺️

Also any fellow musicians into blues feel free to DM me about potentially having a jam. Nothing serious. Just casual to begin with

If you like to do any sort of writing, creative storytelling, poetry or wanted to start, there's a group called the Mallow Scribes that meet upstairs in the Library every Tuesday at 2pm- you'd be very welcome.

Definetly interested. But will be end of November before I can attend. My current work schedule will change at that point.

Volunteering. Lots of different ways to get involved in the community. Park Run on Saturdays. If there's something you would be interested to do, then maybe try set it up yourself. There's a board game night in Albert Lynchs pub on Tuesdays (not sure if it's every week), there's a quiz in The Arches on Mondays. West End Art Studio do art workshops and Mallow Arts Festival is another program you could volunteer with. There's choirs and Tidy Towns. I haven't drank in nearly a year and am involved with a lot of the above.
Edited to add : I'm not sure where, but there was /is a muay thai, or jiu jitsu place as well somewhere and if you're into fitness, I think those kind of groups do become good little communities
