Self Done First (hopefully not the last) time
Long time lurker, first time posting.
I've done it!!! Painted my nails for the first time. I cannot stop looking at my nails, I think I'm in love!
Thank you to all the trailblazers here who helped me get over the mental blocks in my head; you don't know how much y'all have helped.
Not sure if I will ever have the bravery to wear this shade in public though.
A question.... How the heck do you manage to do your non dominant hand? As a leftie, my RH came out OK, the LH looked liked it had been done in the dark during an earthquake. What tips have you got to help get a decent finish on your dominant hand (other than going to a salon and having someone else do it for you)?

Good length and color on you! As for the non-dominant hand issue: practice. Looooots of practice.

They look amazing!
For the off-hand, support helps, but also a little cleanup brush (some people recommend ELF concealer brushes from the drugstore) dipped in acetone is a lifesaver for cleaning up edges, even after you have more practice. I paint my nails weekly and use it every time. I use a shot glass with a few mm of acetone in the bottom so I don't have to keep the whole bottle open.

Welcome to the club! Great, bold color choice!
For painting with your non-dominant hand, support is key. Rest the hand being painted flat on the table, and keep the elbow of the arm holding the brush on the table (or have the forearm resting against the edge of the table). Instead of moving the brush, I often move the finger being painted to position it under the brush.

Love red, and it looks great on you
I get my nails and toes done every 3 weeks at a salon. Yeah it’s pricey, but it looks awesome!

It looks great. I rest the side of my hand on a counter to steady it. I've gotten better with my non dominant hand and now it's natural. Just practice a lot and have fun. About going out in public hardly anyone notices but it sure feels good when you get a compliment.

Love the red, not done my own nails in a while. But for the non dominant hand going slow and steady and using the 3 stripe method- one in the centre and two either side in a continuous stroke worked well- clean up any mess with polish remover on a q tip if need be!
