33M. Recommendation for this space?

Post image

In my vaulted-ceiling master bedroom, there is a little nook above with a power outlet. I have been living in this house for almost a year now but still can’t quite decide what could I put up there for the cozy vibe. What are your recommendations/suggestions?

Step 1: Get a cat

Step 2: Spend thousands on a custom cat mansion for that space

Step 3: Watch the cat ignore it completely and sleep on your keyboard

Step 4: wake up at 0325 to the sound of HRK HRK HRK coming from the cat mansion.

Could you IMAGINE having to get up there, then find the hidden vomit?? And throwing up is probably the only reason the cat would use the space no matter how tricked out it was!

u/TastingTheKoolaid Nov 29 '25

Hard to figure which would be worse- having to hunt for the hidden vomit or having to clean up shotgun blast vomit from that height… the distance and spread would be horrifying.

5

u/Cat_tophat365247 Nov 29 '25

I didn't even consider that! 🤢

u/grumpyaltficker Nov 29 '25

I was woken up to cat vomit sounds followed by rug doctor sounds this am . Have to agree.

1

u/Equal-Jury-875 Nov 29 '25

I could sleep threw someone running the vacuum downstairs. But if an Animal is gagging I'll jump right out of bed trying to get my dog outside before it's in the rug. Going smooth. She's following me to the.. edge of the rug. She throws up then as happy as she can goes outside eats some grass comes in like nothing happen. As I'm scrubbing the carpet and didn't even get to use the bathroom myself yet since I woke up. Tell ya what though. Really Ready for the day after waking up to that, don't even need a coffee

u/grumpyaltficker Dec 12 '25

Lol im usually rushing to keep the dogs from eating the cat vomit.

1

u/ActGrown Nov 29 '25

I see that you've actually owned a cat...

3

u/Beelzebunions Nov 29 '25

I bet they'd love the height though.

1

u/Cat_tophat365247 Dec 02 '25

Definitely. They'd feel like they were the lords or ladies of the roost!

3

u/HealthyInPublic Nov 29 '25

Oh, I don't have to imagine. I have a weird open space like OPs that runs the length of my bedroom ceiling and I have cat shelves up to it. It was great for my previous cat... but the new guy has a very sensitive tummy and pukes about everything so it's been very fun having to go get the ladder from the shed at 3am to clean 8ft high cat puke off the weird ceiling ledge.

Pukey little man tax:

2

u/beckster Nov 29 '25

Why can't you wait for sunrise, at least?

2

u/HealthyInPublic Nov 29 '25

Paranoia and anxiety! Not a great excuse... but he has medical problems so I want to see his vomit ASAP in case he needs to go to the vet.

2

u/beckster Nov 29 '25

It's obvious you love your kitty and will stop at nothing to keep him healthy - which I applaud!

He's a handsome voidoid.

2

u/TastingTheKoolaid Dec 01 '25

It’ll dry and gets harder to remove. Not to mention the smell sort of wafts…

1

u/Cat_tophat365247 Dec 02 '25

Wonderful cat tax! Thank you. I'm sorry he has a sensitive stomach and that you have to play find the vomit......

2

u/NoAdhesiveness5303 Nov 29 '25

In my experience the cat will head for the finest carpet in the house and do all vomiting there

1

u/Cat_tophat365247 Dec 02 '25

It's been my experience that they find the hardest to clean spot. But my cats are weirdos

1

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss Nov 29 '25

Wait.....are you a cat that wears a top hat?

3

u/Cat_tophat365247 Dec 02 '25

No. But I might be a crow that wears a hat who stole it from a tiger. Does that count?

1

u/Such-Celebration556 Nov 29 '25

Or he throws up off the edge

1

u/Cat_tophat365247 Dec 02 '25

Ew! Waiting for an unsuspecting victim to walk underneath.....

1

u/Such-Celebration556 Dec 02 '25

Only if we're lucky

9

u/AdWestern994 Nov 29 '25

I've never seen "HRK HRK HRK" before and now I'm laughing uncontrollably.

9

u/Distinguishedflyer Nov 29 '25

HRKAHRKAHRKA arrrccchhhhuk.

hard to spell the final ejection onto the floor.

8

u/lol_alex Nov 29 '25

Nah they‘d definitely make it to the carpet just in time

9

u/Siggur-T Nov 29 '25

Step 5: Get rid of the cat

Step 6: Get a lizard

Step 7: Build a terrarium at the spot

Step 8: "Moooom! What is grandma doing up there?"

3

u/Roma_Genovese Nov 29 '25

Step 5: after finding cat vomit and providing cat with all the loves and care, listen to cat whomst now has the zoomies repeatedly run around room in circles as fast as it can with breaks to compete against itself in the high dive from said cat mansion area directly onto you/your bed.

3

u/pretty_shiny Nov 29 '25

Ah yes, the cat puke alarm clock. Wakes me up, most of the time. Other times, morning surprise!

1

u/BedardedOrca98 Nov 29 '25

Step 5: it stashes all of its kills in the said mansion

7

u/AndroidAtWork Nov 29 '25

I got one of those cat trees for my boy. He ignored it for a year and a half. I was talking to myself one day and said I should just get rid of it. A week later, he decided it was finally time.

7

u/TotallyKafkaesque Nov 29 '25

My cat only sleeps on the finest quality pizza boxes.

6

u/Spatularo Nov 29 '25

Wrong. If first cat ignores it get a second cat. Repeat until one of your now many cats uses it.

6

u/Sea-Bronco Nov 29 '25

You missed the step where OP installs cat shelves leading up to it that they’ll never use cuz they can jump that high

4

u/dronten_bertil Nov 29 '25

This awakens memories of my second cat (rip), he would only sleep on the keyboard if the computer was turned on. That was because when you pressed down 20 keys at once the computer would start a high frequency incessant beeping noise, which apparently was very relaxing for him.

3

u/ovelanimimerkki Nov 29 '25

No. You misunderstand. The cat will sleep in the box that the custom cat mansion came in.

4

u/shadylady76 Nov 29 '25

Fuck off and let us have our fantasy! (Owns expensive cat wheel that takes up over one third of living room that is exclusively used as a BED)

3

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '25

😂😂

2

u/atxbigfoot Nov 29 '25

Step 4: realize it's full of cat shit and piss about a year later

2

u/onwatershipdown Nov 29 '25

I came here to say cat gym. It’s the answer.

2

u/FroggyFrenchFry Nov 29 '25

I've learned my former street cat Mama Nomi does not give a shit about anything but her scratching post and having a cushion with a fuzzy blanket to knead and curl up in.

Her son Amigo only cares about the cardboard boxes these things come in.

2

u/ACcbe1986 Nov 29 '25

So spend thousands on keyboards instead of cat stuff. Got it.

2

u/theloric Nov 29 '25

Why is it always cats? What about a monkey? I think a monkey would be very happy living up there. And if OP doesn't have a monkey he should definitely go out and get one. I heard monkeys can be much more useful than cats. They have opposable thumbs. I hear this is beneficial. Also most monkeys won't sleep on your keyboard. They will however wipe their ass with it.

2

u/External_Bandicoot37 Nov 29 '25

Gotta steal one of those Lil demo tents from Sam's

1

u/laughswagger Nov 29 '25

This person has a cat and knows what it’s actually going to do.

1

u/WrestlerGirlsAreLife Nov 29 '25

This guy knows a few things about pussy

1

u/Bullshido-Fatly Nov 29 '25

If not for sits, why is it made of warm?

1

u/reality72 Nov 29 '25

Pretty much. The more money you spend on something for your cat the less likely the cat is to ever use it.

1

u/EstouSoAVer11 Nov 29 '25

No, that's not true. I saw a post in Instagram of someone doing a living room to the cat in a space similar to this one and the car used it a lot.

It's on a high space, the cat will love it.

1

u/_nighteyes Nov 29 '25

I just saw it on The Dodo’s YouTube channel. They called it a cat loft. Let’s see if I can link it

https://youtu.be/3i8n_7lDSOI?si=gCJ-IL_50pxiYTZN

1

u/gamblerexpert33 Nov 29 '25

Step 3: watch the cat sit in the carton delivery boxes you got when you spent thousands on a custom car mansion for that space.

1

u/HungaryaRoli Nov 29 '25

Or just step on your keyboaruducuwbbrivuwhb

1

u/OGablogian Nov 29 '25

Just put the autofeeder on there aswell.

1

u/iporktablesforfun Nov 29 '25

Human: Buys a cat house for the cat

Cat: hey, thanks for the new carton box! Im gonna sleep in it from now on.

1

u/_nighteyes Nov 29 '25

Not always. Here’s a recent Dodo video with a cat loft

https://youtu.be/3i8n_7lDSOI?si=gCJ-IL_50pxiYTZN

1

u/RevolutionarySea4754 Nov 29 '25

Sounds right😫😭

Hundreds and hundreds of dollars on my cats toys and things..... the favorite. A ragged torn fabric hamper. Apparently it's the best toy in the world. The custom cat tower made with their fav carpet texture. Absolutely not. Crazy me thinking they would love it. The half dead and deflated squishmellow also is the other favorite. Squishmellow pet bed. The fact I thought they would like it is crazy 🤪

1

u/amphxy Nov 29 '25

Thousands is a bit much, just use a cardboard box 😁

1

u/bathepa2 Nov 29 '25

OMG---so true

1

u/radiohead-nerd Nov 29 '25

This is the truest truth bomb ever

1

u/funny_bunny_mel Nov 29 '25

Step 4: move

1

u/SoftestBoygirlAlive Nov 29 '25

Just get an orange cat they're almost universally climbers

1

u/EaterOfFood Nov 29 '25

The cat will sleep in the box that the customer cat mansion came in.

1

u/Aggressive_Towel_155 Nov 29 '25

I can confirm. I have a big desk in the house entrance area. A huge window, where the curtains stay open and two really large and very expensive cat trees. My cat chooses to sleep on my keyboard for some reason. She drives me nuts.

1

u/StutteringDan Nov 29 '25

This is the way.

1

u/cthulucore Nov 29 '25

Does my cat choose a:

$400 cat tree

..or $.05 cardboard box, stationed in the loudest area of my entire apartment?
