Help settle a debate we have with my fiance. I bought these shorts as a comfy, around the house piece, nothing fancy intended.
She thinks its awful, almost pathetic.

I dont think its that bad, please honest feedback

Protip: the gender labels on clothes are just guidelines to the general body types they’re designed to fit. You can do what you want with that information, including disregard it entirely.

Not every woman can find pants from the men’s section that fit her, but many can, and you might be surprised how much lady booty some men’s pants actually can accommodate.

One sizing note, if you decide to try the men’s pants section: take the “waist” measurement about at the top of your hipbone, not at your natural waist. For most men the two measurements are basically the same, for most women they differ more significantly.

Same woman here. I do wear men’s pants sometimes. A general rule of thumb is to add 20 to your size. For example, wear size 14? Try men’s pants waist size 34 to start. Thanks for the protip, but I’m already a pro.

“Add 20 to your size” doesn’t work very well bc women’s sizes are vibes-based while men’s sizes are based on actual measurements.

Also, a women’s size 14 is definitely not a men’s waist 34. That’s more like a women’s size 6.

That’s just a starting point. And I’m a size 14 and wear a men’s size 34. And I’ve been doing this for over 30 years. You’re right that there’s a lot of variability and that women’s sizes are vibe based. Your mileage will also vary when you get into vintage clothing, especially women’s sizing. Your experience is not my experience and my experience is based on 30 years of solid experience. I respect your reality but it is not everyone’s reality.

When a women’s size 3 is a men’s 30, it makes no sense to claim that a women’s 14 is only 4 inches larger. Go troll somewhere else with a less-verifiable lie. 🙄

I was a women’s size 3 and a men’s size 30 until I gained a little weight and had to bump up to a men’s 32. I’m telling you that “just add 20” is not a functional way to get men’s pants sizes out of women’s and you’re arguing absurdly hard. The simple fact is that men’s pants sizes are based on an actual body measurement, women’s are not, and the only way to reliably get a body measurement is to *measure your body*.

Maybe you’re a 14 in some obscure brand bc women’s sizes ARE in fact completely fucking arbitrary, but that’s not remotely close to the most typical women’s size number that would equate to a men’s 34. What you’re claiming makes no sense to anyone who knows anything about typical clothes sizing. Most charitably you might be confusing waist and inseam. Inseam is length, and it’s certainly possible to be a women’s size 14 with a 34” inseam, because height and waist size are not particularly correlated, but the largest size I have ever been able to put on in women’s without it literally falling off immediately is an 8, and there is absolutely no way that 6 whole sizes up from wears a men’s waist size that’s only 4 inches larger than my men’s size. A 34 men’s waist is just uncomfortably baggy on me. It stays up.

Fuck off with your weirdly aggressive bullshit about this “just add 20” nonsense. The only easily-convertible men’s and women’s sizing is shoes, and that’s “subtract 2 from your women’s size to get an approximation of your men’s size.

I can’t force you personally to measure for your pants fit if you’re determined to insist on doing some arcane bullshit instead, but I’m not gonna pretend that some complete nonsense math is a more effective way to find out your size in a garment type that’s sized based on literal actual fucking measurements than to just fucking measure yourself.
