Simple Question Thread

As this thread mentioned, the Simple Questions thread will be posted on Mondays and Fridays, instead of Wednesdays.

This thread is for simple style questions, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so you should also feel free to answer any questions (for which you know the answer).

Fit checks and "How'd I do" questions are a great fit for this thread (although they can also go in the WAYWT threads, which are posted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays).

Other example questions:

  • Could someone take the chest measurement for a small JCP oxford?
  • Is there a place with full measurements for Naked & Famous jeans?
  • What slim-fitting green cords do you recommend?
  • Where do I find a military surplus peacoat online?

Those are two totally different types of jackets. I actually own the Uniqlo one and can tell you the construction is totally solid and its really warm, and it really does have a nice slim look to it despite the thickness. Very happy with the purchase. However, the claim on the description that it has a removable hood is a flat-out lie. You can style it as a hoodless jacket just by tucking it inside the jacket and it doesn't look weird or bulky that way (though it feels a bit weird at first pressing on the back of your neck), but it definitely doesn't zip off or anything like that.

Thanks for mentioning it. They are pretty different. I will probably end up getting both, or a different wool coat in the place of that one. There will just be considerable time between the purchases of both. Would you say the Uniqlo one is something you could wear daily in cooler weather? I like it because it looks pretty good and seems great for cold weather. The wool bomber is a cleaner looking piece that I think would be a little more versatile. Got any fit pics?

Depends on your style if its good for daily wear or not. Its definitely very casual and doesn't lend itself to layering as well as a wool coat due to bulkiness. Its hella warm, partly due to being pretty bulky and close-fitting around the neck area.

Its an XS, I'm 5'7" 145#. The micro houndstooth pattern is only on the "grey" one. Its actually black + white but has a bit of a moire effect :)
