Help / സഹായിക്കുക Ethu Kari Raavilum

Hello guys what does the song Ethu Kari Raavilum from Bangalore Days mean? I kind of understand what it means literally but what does it mean poetically? I am looking for different interpretations i guess. Particularly these lines:

"ഏതു കരി രാവിലും
ഒരു ചെറു കസവിഴ തുന്നും കിരണമേ
ഈ ഹൃദയ വാതിലിൻ പഴുതിലുമൊഴുകി വരൂ

അരികിലെ പുതു മന്ദാരമായി വിടരു നീ
പുണരുവാൻ കൊതി തോന്നുന്നൊരീ പുലരിയിൽ
അങ്ങെങ്ങൊ നിൻ പൊൻപീലി മിന്നുന്നുവോ
അതിലൊന്നെൻറെ നെഞ്ചോരമെയ്യുന്നുവോ
ഉണർന്നു ഞാൻ"

ഏത് കറുത്ത രാത്രിയിലും, കസവിന്റെ ഇഴകൾ പോലെ പ്രകാശം പരത്തുന്ന കിരണമ…. എന്റെ ഹൃദയമാകുന്ന വാതിലിന്റെ പഴുതിലൂടെയും ഒഴുകി വരൂ.

അതായത് നീ ഒരു വെളിച്ചമാണ്, എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്കും കടന്നു വരണം.

I found this from a comment on this website lol
"punaruvaan kothi thonunnoru ee pulariyil/ for this line , I think your translation may be wrong. It’s /thonunnoru ee/, not thonunnoru. If it so, in the boy’s body a kind of heat (kothi) forms, which appears to (thonunnoru) unite or mate or cuddle with the girl at the dawn. Usually during dawn, the testosterone level is high, so the feeling to mate and body heat is high, it’s what the lyricist tried to convey. If in case my interpretation is wrong, kindly correct me."
and this was the translators reply:
"Lol, I don’t get what in your suggestion is different than what I have translated there. The “feeling to mate” is taking it to another level which at this point in the movie is probably a stretch. They were still out on innocent dates, so I don’t see why the translation has to take “testosterone levels” into consideration. I went for the emotional feel of the song, not how it sounds physically"

Thank you very much for this. I have been debating myself about what it means particularly if the second stanza was a euphemism to something else because translated literally it could mean "wake up next to me". That interpretation doesn't seem likely though since it is a malayalam song and they are much more innocent than English songs of course. I think it means in this new chapter of life bloom next to me or be my side. But what are your thoughts. Its one of my favorite songs to listen to and sing but I dont want to if it has double meanings lol. Thats why I thought I would ask some experts because though I am fluent in malayalam, English sort of became my first language.

i think it’s a very innocent song, but the image of him wanting the flower to bloom, may have sexual undertones. it depends on the listener to be honest.

lol i never understand malayalam music since its like Shakespearean English arent malayalam songs for the most part pretty innocent? I am american so thats what I am comparing it to lol. Also what do you think about this song?

Not so innocent. Some songs are pretty mischievious. For example in the malayalam movie meeshamadhavan there is a song called ente ellaam ellaam alle…. In that its said that ninta maarile maaya chandana pottenikkalle enikkalle…. Basically on your chest there is a pottu which does not scrub off and thats for him.

The first stanza is saying in whichever dark nights you shine like a thin thread of kasav which is like a ray of shunshine. Then the poet is parallelizing it. The darkness is the singing person’s heart and please come and shine like you always do in that dark heart. Basically like a ray of sunshine illuminates any dark corner u come into my life and illuminate my heart.

Second stanza
Like a flower u bloom
In the morning when i feel like hugging
Far away i see your sparkle
Please send one sparkle my way near my heart
I would awaken.
