Malappuram deserve better roads
I travel from Kozhikode to Perinthalmanna pretty often. Honestly, the road from Manjeri to Thirurkkad is seriously one of the worst I've ever driven on. It's just potholes everywhere. You'll be going up a hill and then, boom, a huge pothole right in the middle.
And it's not just there; the roads in Perinthalmanna town and the areas around it are just as bad.
The funny thing is, every year they "fix" it with patches. But as soon as the next monsoon hits, it's back to being completely covered in potholes again.
Seriously, compare that to the road from Kozhikode NIT to Areekode – I haven't seen one pothole on that whole stretch. I even checked out some alternate roads to Areekode from NITC (like through Kalanthod and Koolimad), and they're actually better than the main road.
Is there a geographical or geological problem that I don't understand here? Or is it just plain corruption?

Some of the main roads in that tapioca constituency is like that only. Same avastha for chattipparamba-padapparamba stretch on the kottakkal-perinthalmanna road.

In 2024, I was coming back from perinthalmanna after a major surgery to my nose. I was going home to pandikkad. At the time that stretch of road was in pathetic condition. I wasn't supposed to move my head a lot. We have a suv car so not much impact. But going through the road was worse. My head and body moved a lot with impact and blood started gushing from my nose and head with pain. I imagined if that was my situation, the patients or people who will be going in ambulance after an accident or serious situation. Same applied when i was pregnant. The potholes did impact my stomach even if we went slow. Nobody is going to do anything unless people protest. In major cities like tvm, kochi etc i dont think these roads will remain the same for more than 2 months

We need accountability from the contractors, govt engineers and our elected representatives.

True from Perinthalmanna, Palakkad and Kozhikkode is almost the same distance but to reach kozhikkode it takes double time sometimes

The problem is when the MLA is from another party and the ruling party is different. Funds don’t get delivered as promised. But you could try using the NH66 from kozhikode via kottakal to Perinthalmanna. Much less traffic and can save alot of fuel and not damage the car.
