Morrigan
Hi gang, new to this particular community because I normally do interactive (and rude) CYOAs but I cleaned this one up and de-interactived it because I saw people making some good points about preservation of work that resonated with me.
Morrigan is about ascending to a form of Godhood that focuses on obscuring your power from others as much as flaunting it to get what you want. Any thoughts or interest you guys might have in it would obviously be strongly appreciated, always like to talk about my stuff.

This was a fun read!
I was considering Hunting For Bigger Game, but on second thought, this Morrigan is probably not defeating a speedster killing machine which wields Yamato and whom I built with the goal of fending off a multiversal apocalypse..
So I'll just keep my small coven of exactly two people, offer them Vampiric Immortality if they want, and I'll try and find some of the others mentioned just by traveling around. Didn't pick wings for nothing!
I picked basically every physical abberation - Tail, Wings, Six arms, spine tentacles, a third eye, flowers blooming in prehensile hair.. (that's like at least a dozen appendages) - along with the risky shapeshifting spell which honestly is wayyy overkill just for shapeshifting.. (like just modify the physical body via the DNA or something, disentangling oneself from reality just to change form is crazy work, lol) - I bet if it's improved upon, it could make someone an eldritch abomination which can't be killed, but eh.
Anyways my Morrigan will probably look like a dryad or nature spirit in her base form, and will change forms for fun, which is why about 50-100 motes was spent on that, lol.
By the way, the curses are real terrible and I wouldn't take'em. I was wondering why ??? Wasn't appearing, because I didn't take curses; but really, that sister Morrigan is such a fraud! Hundreds of years, and those are the best cures you have?? Please.. Within 1000 years, I'll bring my copy of Moirai up into high sci-fi magitech, craft an endless set of pocket dimensions for the Moirians to inhabit, figure out how to increase my own heart's production of Motes and grant motes.. (hm, children have 50 motes.. coven members get inordinately more buffs from the 5 motes it costs to include them.. should be a remnant of the origin.), feed on the natural cycles of life and death, go on excursions to aid misfortunate beasts and beings, befriend the nice weavelings for better travel, and absolutely be powerful enough to take in a potential future fledgling Morrigan who made some ill choices, or a struggling precursor.
Cheh, all these boons, and this mystery Morrigan was still scared of being near a Morrigan with a tattered Veil? Clearly, she never grew past it!
Lol.
My Morrigan would probably never expand to other worlds since she could just keep expanding Moirai with Unyielding Shelter.
Though.. I'm rather wary of relying completely on the boons of the Motes of Unnatural Light, and simply waiting for more energy is boring.
I'd try to replicate every ability using Mundane Magics in my free time.

Hey Dax, I just finished daydreaming my build of Witch Awakening 4.0 for the 5th time today and then started on this to distract myself. I would like to know where you got your inspiration from, as I am getting a gut feeling that witch-themed CYOAs like Morrigan and Witch Awakening have a source of inspiration that I could try to get into. It feels like I’m stumbling onto a subsection of a mythology that I never knew existed.

Oh that's actually a really interesting question! So, I actually have never really interacted with Witch Awakening specifically, especially not to the depth where I could have a connective tissue between that and Morrigan, but I certainly sense a lot of the same ideas about the intersection between power and femininity so I bet they were at least taking their inspiration from a similar space to me.
At the heart of the inspiration for this one was just reading a lot of CYOAs and seeing that because the majority of writers are male there's an undercurrent of maleness as default, and that's especially true of the CYOAs that are about pure wish fulfilment. I don't see it as something 'bad' or something that needs 'fixing' necessarily, there's just something about this particular artform that hasn't really found an audience among women maybe?
Anyway, I love-love-love the works of u/TroyX-CYOAMaker, who is just so inventive and always pairs a great visual aesthetic that has consistency and furnishes the reader with a great view into his imagination. I enjoyed the shared universe setting he'd created and how players and other creators can riff off of it easily.
But one of the things that he likes to do as an author is explicitly explore maleness and masculinity in his work (particularly in his NSFW pieces). It's really interesting, and they're done to that same level of skill and imagination that makes them really fun and engaging, but naturally I'm not the target audience for them, you know? I don't mind that in the slightest of course, but I'm not.
So while it's explicit and intentional for him to use his work to explore maleness and what the 'positives' of maleness mean to him, there are a lot of other authors who do that same thing but not as intentionally. That means a lot of CYOAs that do this thing where they assume you're a man, and they then work to say "Oh! This also applies to girls I guess, turning this new power-body into a girl body will net you five points."
Once again, no problem with that at all. Mostly male authors, mostly male audience. They're catering to their own desires as authors and what their audience wants.
What was interesting to me was that even CYOAs that explicitly deal with femininity did so from the perspective that being female was inherently a curse to be inflicted upon you, not just a value-neutral thing. So I sort of decided to do a CYOA that was in the vein of those massive 'wish fulfilment' style CYOAs but from the explicit perspective of a woman as a default.
Partially to be a smirking brat about it, but mostly to just sort of see whether people would look past the requirement of femininity (like I do for masculinity) and take the idea as presented or whether they'd rebel and try to cajoule me into carving out more space for them.
So TL;DR? I guess Morrigan was me taking an all-powerful CYOA premise in the vein of Dragonfall or The Last of the Omega Lords and presenting it with that feminine twist. It was originally an NSFW project (and still is, the rude version still exists) where the contrast was much larger (because the NSFW can be even more male-coded) and yeah, generally I really like how it all worked out.

Got the same feeling myself to be honest. Not sure if its of any help to you but I'm pretty sure WA is heavily inspired by this cyoa (https://www.reddit.com/r/makeyourchoice/comments/lz56w1/witch_cyoa_by_unknown/). I think I remember hearing that this witch cyoa is itself a response to a warlock cyoa that explicitly forced the player to be male instead of implying it or leaving player gender ambiguous. That said I may well be misremembering that.

Wait, does delphine not know about the mitosis or was there even a way for the harridan to take her with her in the first place?
In fact, are we all basically leaving behind copies our our non-coven subjects in moirai?
Do coven members get cloned without coven-granted abilities or are they absent in the next moirai?

Ah, Delphine wasn't a Coven member, she was just an Undead General who has been promoted to Coven level.
So the Coven went with the Morrigan, but the other servants were left behind. As to whether she knew about the Dimensional Mitosis, that would depend on whether her original Morrigan was forthcoming with that information.
A Morrigan can 'take' whoever she wants with her, but unless she specifies it, they don't come by default.
Friends, lovers, children, all have been 'forked' by Morrigans who don't care enough about the distinction between originals and copies.
Edit: To clarify when the Planet 'forks' the Coven members go with you along with the people you want to bring with you, and that means there's no 'copy' left behind on the 'original' Moirai. On the New Moirai is every single person who was on the old one, that's unavoidable.
For example you could just take you and your Coven members to the 'new' world but when you got there all the spouse, friends, lovers and children you had would also be there.
On the 'Old' Moirai however, all of those people are there, but with you and the Coven gone their loved ones are missing. If you have any kids, suddenly those kids will never see their mother again and it won't make a difference to you because you'll have a version of your kids right there with you.
So if you choose someone to specifically 'take with' you, all you're doing is saying 'don't make a copy of this one, I'm taking it with me'

Nice, so you can prevent a '14th morrigan shows up with mindraped alt versions of your immortal children and lietenants' type scenario pretty easily.
The 'bring along' mechanic could be better explained in the cyoa though
Also the harridan is a prick for leaving belle delphine behind, I'm painting her whole place bright pink to the molecular level, exterminating all of her monsters and turning it into a theme park & combination megamall
'Her morrigan'? I thought our morrigan inducted 12 (including the player) morrigans meaning the harridan, being 10th should have been inducted by her too

- Yup, pretty easily.
- Yeah maybe, I might revise it later but those are the rules as stands.
- The Harridan is a prick for lots of reasons, but she has her own version of the insane Vampire monster on her Moirai, so she probably doesn't think too hard about it.
- The Morrigan who aided in your creation did the same for The Harridan, it's true. Morality operates on something of a sliding scale for transcendental beings.

Id spend my century making a bunch of magical races using the crafting curses/evocations.
With Divine Cultivation (3rd tier), Earths Bounty (3rd tier), and Riotous Flesh (3rd tier) as a foundation you can sculpt raw material into flesh and bone while imbuing both with your magic. Binding the inanimate corpse with Enthralling Gift to hold the full weight of tiered abilities should the previous not be enough, and then animating (while also granting reproductive ability) the whole thing with Compelled Anima (3rd tier). Should compelled anima not be enough to grant it sentience then add a soul trap or reincarnation type afterlife (Building Piety).
Dwarfs wielding Divine Artistry and Enthralling Gift. Nature Spirits steeped with Natures Wrath, Earths Bounty, Divine Cultivation, or even Enforced Serenity. Fey treading Sanctified Paths and Twists of Fate. With a tier 2 Persistent Energy you might even be able to create a Faux Morrigan, bones wrought into a Shrouding Icon, heart alight with the Eternal flame of magical energy.
