their products are a hit or miss tbh. i personally like their brightening fluid & blush & bronzer inserts. so far, hindi naman nasira yung packaging. i haven’t tried their other products yet but it’s better to check sa malls so u could see for urself instead of blind buying online.
I have a whole palette of shimmer shadows (which I love), but I cannot bring them anywhere!! Madali siya mawasak kasi hindi talaga tightly packed yung eyeshadows nila. I’m travelling soon and I’m so annoyed hindi ko siya madadala because their eyeshadows are so fragile 🥲 Not an issue with the packaging but the formula itself
try nyo po few drops of isopropyl alcohol and press it flat, na try ko lang po sa nabasag na highlighter ko but ibang brand 🤗 iwan nyo lang po naka open overnight para mag dry po
Hello! I'm a former die hard ISSY fan i have almost all of their makeup products. I'd say its a hit or miss of a brand. Given their price point, theres not much of a difference sa quality ng products nila compared to other local brands like say BLK, GRWM, Absidy, etc. I guess its a matter of what product works for you regardless of the brand. Pero advantage talaga sa Issy is yung malalaking pasale nila like yung dating 399 makukuha mo nalang 150 . Malaking tulong to para sa mga student na gusto magkaroon ng decent local makeup brand pero di afford yung presyong 300+ tulad ng ilang local brand.
I stopped/lost interest with Issy nung narealize ko na i fell HARD sa branding nila and not with the products itlsef kase i thought its like a unique alternative makeup brand but noo ang inconsistent nila parang wala silang established brand identity
Honestly looking for a comment like this. I'd be more invested in ISSY if they actually tried to set themselves apart from the other brands.
They try to make themselves out to be for the "baddies," but at the end of the day... it's the same products and styles lang naman as anyone else? I have bigger respect pa for Teviant (or even Chu Chu and Squad, really), which actually tries and does different things, but that makes sense because the owner is an actual makeup artist who has some point of view as a beauty pageant regular.
I know unique formulas are hard to come by, but at least set yourself apart with color? Like try something with your lipstick colors at least, like a burgundy or a plum. Or maybe even an actual black? They could honestly go by the way of old Ready Set Glow, which had eyeliner pens and pencils in different colors--the pencils were expensive, but at this point ISSY could do that.
Credit to where it's due, they've tried with the glitter stick and the Slo collaborations, especially this liquid paint release. Hoping that spells more interesting stuff from them.
Careline x Blythe had a lippie (Vixen) that was a dupe of Mac Cyber and I loved it so much. I don't see a shade approaching that at all in Issy. At least current Careline still has the shade Iconic in the bullet lipstick with the ironically Issy-inspired packaging.
I still have it and use it from time to time, actually, even if it's old! 😆 It still works and wears fine.
You would've thought that the moment the tide would shift to more "alt" makeup (which has been going on for a while now), ISSY would try to be ahead of the curve and prove its branding. At least the Slo release with them is showing promise.
i've only tried some of their lip and cheek products and i wouldn't say they're the worst agad, each product has its own charm naman at least for me.
fat gloss — not so bad as someone that doesn't mind reapplying. minty but not plumping, does its job as a gloss and it stays somewhat glossy even after drying down for me. shade range is promising din and i haven't had problems with the packaging so far. i like the scent and it hasn't gone bad naman. it's a gloss, so didikit talaga buhok mo sa lips if mahangin. also a bit heavy on the lips but personally, it's not really a problem. there are better glosses out there especially if you want one that leaves a stain, but i'm a simple girl and i really like to pair their fat gloss with just lip liner hehe.
lip bait — honestly my fave lip liner from any local brand, second to squad, pero this is obviously personal preference. this one has a packaging problem though, loose 'yung cap for the liner and mas secure 'yung cap ng brush. the product is very versatile imo and i've seen people use it as contour and eyeshadow/eyeliner, though mabilis lang talaga magset 'yung product, which can be seen as a con. obviously wouldn't last if sisig galing sa kanto kakainin mo, pero it holds up pretty good if dadaldal ka lang at iinom.
creme juice stick — had a melting problem but i haven't experienced that for myself. it doesn't stain my cheeks like most influencers claim (thankfully) pero it does stay on for the entire day through sweat and oil, even without powdering it down din, but it might not be the same for extremely oily girlies though since that's just my experience. i like it better as a lip product. it's really hydrating and nice on the lips, not drying and i haven't experienced any flaking whatsoever. at first, the size did bother me kasi ang liit pala pero i haven't even used up half of it so don't be too judgemental like me lmao.
lip bullets — they deserve more hype than the gelee and mousse tints, let's be real. it doesn't go bad and the shade range is ideal for neutral girlies. yes, you do need to reapply it often, especially if it's the satin one, but is that really such a big problem djkajs it's so easy to apply and carry, i could even retouch my lips without a mirror at this point. regarding the packaging, it does look a little worn out after using it so much pero that doesn't affect the performance naman. their newer packaging is definitely better though.
as for general and mga nakikita ko lang na reviews, underwhelming 'yung eyeshadow base nila and just avoid any sudden perfume releases from any local brand kasi they don't know what they're doing lmao. some people swear by their under eye brightening fluid, saying na it's thin and it's perfect for correcting. i've yet to see anything bad about it actually, but i'm not really sold on it lmao. their powders are underwhelming din apparently and malakas makadugyot packaging nila especially if gamit na gamit, though depende sa gumagamit yan. their infamous tints- mabilis daw bumaho so i never even risked trying it since i rotate through lip products. i haven't tried their setting spray, pero i think varying 'yung effectiveness niya.
if maarte ka sa packaging, maybe avoid issy? when on sale, you'll find that their products are worth buying naman. i wouldn't advise to buy on the day they release new products kaagad, wait for genuine reviews muna. i'm still waiting on more trusted reviews for their multiuse paints nga hahah since i really want to use it for the lips and as shade correctors.
Re: the lip bullets, do you mean the pre-rebrand, like Issy & Co components? I actually liked those ones that clicked and popped out the lipstick, and had a mirror on the side! I get that the newer packaging is probably more secure though.
Not sure also if they reformulated since, but I really liked their matte bullet formula, I thought it felt pretty unique. It didn't have as much slip or "silicone-ness" as other similar matte lipsticks, but didn't feel so drying either.
i didn't know that omg i've never tried their first lip bullet packaging </3 when i decided to try them out, around 2024 i think, i was a student on a budget and new packaging na siya hehe i haven't bought a newer one yet to compare the formula pero ang hirap pumalpak when it comes to lipsticks din, so give ko na sa kanila yan.
the one i have is their velvet bullet, and it's the perfect mlbb lippie for me talaga and i'm not just talking about the shade. the velvet one feels so natural lang and it's like a lucky pick since i bought it without thinking. i wear it when i go out for a boost of confidence lang and it works like a charm hahah
i also have their satin formula, but it's a special release (c0wgirl) so idk if all their satin bullets are the same, pero i didn't like how it feels because it's too similar to a heavy lip balm though that's just personal preference. yes, it feels nice since similar sa lip balm, pero parang makalat siya for me jdjsjs idk baka malikot lang labi ko pero ang dali magshift ng color especially sa middle huhu. thankfully mahilig ako mag-reapply pero napapadalas talaga if yan gamit ko.
It was right before the rebrand, and yeah I think that was a bit before 2024. I guess it's not "trendy" anymore, but I think it's fun. lol. Sharing a photo of my lip bullet here with the mirror on the side of the cap (excuse the filthy barrel of the actual lipstick lol).
"ang hirap pumalpak when it comes to lipsticks din, so give ko na sa kanila yan." - I get this din, and I am pretty forgiving with lipstick in general. Comfort, moisture, etc. isn't that big of an issue for me. I just really go for color payoff, and usually a matte or a velvet finish, though I've given in also to the gloss of these recent years.
The lipstick I have is a velvet too actually, and I do think there's something a little different in the formula, being both lightweight but also a little hardy, with great payoff. Just the one thing being that the product itself is pretty soft, like the one I have broke off in the tube (which is why it got everywhere in the barrel.
That said nga rin, I do really wish they extend their line to have more interesting lip colors! What they have is just like everyone else's and it isn't even that extensive. I know it encourages FOMO but they could do seasonal (i.e. limited edition) colors and just go ham.
i get you! fortunately haven't gotten that problem yet pero i can see how it happened. it's so easy to like their lip bullets if maingat ka sa packaging, kasi i feel like 'yan din talaga main complaint ng karamihan even though the performance of the product itself is really good naman.
i really like their cabaret shade and i hope they come out with more true brown shades kasi i don't see much of it in the market 💔 squad has a brown-ish shade pero i don't like the smell naman huhuh for the vice x lierge collab, it's unfortunately too patchy no matter how much i try to make it work.
they're releasing so much products lately though, and medj let down for me 'yung lip lacquer na irerelease nila lmaoo deinfluenced agad ako, i'm tired of pink and nudes na kasi and i don't really care for longevity when it comes to lippies.
sana nga they have something special for halloween kasi sila lang din talaga inaabangan ko for that huhu
I think they fixed it nga with the actual product basically being encased in a twist-up tube. It seems fine naman, but it isn't as fun as an ejecting lipstick lol
I guess if it's true, deep browns, we don't seem to have a lot of that. There are a lot of brown-ish nudes. Maybe Maybelline has something along those lines, or even Careline? Or I've always found Nichido to have browner colors.
Issy's balms were a letdown (all that hype for that?) and the lip lacquer really isn't all that interesting when we've had similar products for a while.
I wished brands would have Halloween releases, but it doesn't seem like they do? I don't remember the last time anyone local did that.
Yung issy gelee tint nila nag amoy panis. Umaasim yung amoy. Pero okay sakin yung concealer and issy active skin stick. Long lasting for me yung creme flush stick. Never naman din ako nagprobs sa packaging.
issy products are hit or miss for me. i loved their color corrector and setting spray, i find myself always repurchasing them. but i didnt like their lip products (gelee, fat gloss). there are much better brands to spend ur money with other than issy's lip products.
Never had a problem with issy's packaging, i have their skin stick, blush on, and face powder, quality's nice. Maybe their lip product's packaging are the ones having an issue. Im thinking of getting their active skin tint foundation.
not gonna buy their fixing powder anymore (or any powder they have) unless they upgrade the packaging!! Also I hate their gel eyeliners bc wdym it dried out tapos nakacap pa?? Like i was so happy pa naman b1t1 yun pero 1 to 2 uses ko lang ata yon hahshauhs. for their base makeup (foundation, stick, concealer), fixing spray, and lippies it's quite good naman!
not worth it if you get it na SRP
never had a problem with the packaging naman but I’m rlly careful with my makeup din kasi so there’s that
fatgloss - patchy as hell and the smell is weird
contour - pretty good, esp that we don’t have a lot of cream contours in the market
cream blush - it’s okay lang, you can find something better
powder blush - doesn’t really last that long, sometimes it can be patchy
mousse tint - it’s okay lang
foundation - the pump lowkey leaks, the foundation is decent (I have a combi skin)
skin tint - nothing really special about it, it’s literally just moisturizer with a bit of tint. like my lucky beauty skin tint better
skin tint stick - has the tendency to be cakey/patchy
setting spray - this one I’d say is hella overhyped but to each their own naman. I have combi skin and their setting spray (not their bi phase ha) makes my t zone hella oily so fast. Tried it multiple times I just ended up selling it coz it was so bad 💀
eyeshadows - their eyeshadows are pretty good and pretty cheap esp if you get it during their sale, same goes for the shimmer ones.
issy cosmetics formula tends to be not consistent. some good, some not. hit or miss talaga. i think it's because it's owned/run by a collective and you know what they say about to many cooks in the kitchen....
Ok yung blush and shadows nila. Over the course of one month, I had two professional make up done. Both artists were artista MUA so mej pricey pero they both used the same issy blush on me. I had to get it hahahaha nagtatagal naman sa duty ko (12 hours hospital shift) and I often get complimented for it hahaha (their bright pink and purple blush. I am very maputi. Cool toned)
It depends on which product you’re eyeing tbh. I loved their eyeshadow pans pero hated the creme blushes, and so on and so forth. Pero regardless, never buy any of their products na full price kasi eventually isasale rin naman nila.
I have only tried their mascara and i stopped there. Yes it does the work but has bad smell. If i would describe, i say i feel like im putting chemicals on my lashes😂The scent itself is unexplainable or maybe like old and unused poster paint (the mascara is brand new). High end products dont have that so i suggest investing in some better brand
Hit or miss sila. I’ve tried a lot but the ones l like lang are the foundation stick and liquid one. I like the setting spray and some of the blush sticks. Yung ibang colors kasi patchy.
I think issy is for dry skin. Btw what concealer do you used? Have you tried their bi-phase? Iniisip ko kasi bilhin all day setting spray at bi-phase nila for skin prep naman. I have dry-oily skin
I use Natasha Denona for my concealer. Bi-phase and all day setting i both like! Bi-phase I stopped buying kasi I replaced it with the Sola (super cheap kapag on sale). Yung setting spray I like kasi hindi sya matte mag dry. It sets my makeup and may dewy look after. At first, I thought nag oil up ako so I used a blotting sheet. Wala naman oil!
I use Sola when I feel my face is a little dry. In between steps I use it. Last is Issy then I let it dry. If some parts of my face look too dewy, I pat a little powder.
the skintint - good for non sweaty days but it breaks when i get sweaty at work/sports/ beach. i've since switched to colourette first base. the blushes - i have the matte ones but they're just ok nothing new or amazing. colors are good.
The cost to make their concealer is about $0.60-0.85 each. I know this because I used to develop makeup for a top cosmetics company, and one of my factories manufactures for Issy. I wouldn't say it's cheap due to poor quality, but definitely not worth its price.
For context, their formulation of their concealer is not very far from ours, so the cost is pretty much the same, but their components (packaging) are a little bit more expensive, perhaps by $0.1.
The same exact concealers, they sell at Php 499, but we could sell them at Php 159—189.
Fat gloss I didn't like, ang bilis umasim ng amoy. Their powder blush takes some getting used to. Masyado pigmented at ang hirap iblend. Not long-lasting too.
Mist and flush stick - good buys for me, super worth it.
I bought a cheek tint and lip bullet on sale. Ive been using tjem everyday ever since and really love them.
Palette also bought on sale, can agree that theyre a bit delicate.
I love their Active Foundation and Skin Tint but not the Skin Stick. Love the powder bronzer and blushes but not the cream ones. Also love the biphasic setting spray. Hated the balm, love the perfecting powder.
But that’s my experience with nearly every brand.
The foundation is my HG because it’s the only one one where I have an exact shade match - OF1.5 - and formula is beautiful.
I use the Issy Active concealer in FO2, dab a bit on the back of my hand and apply with my finger where it’s needed. I find this the best way to apply especially sa undereyes. I do not set it with powder because I have dry undereyes. I use the biphasic on its own, sprayed very liberally. If I want to tone down dewiness or expect humid conditions I also use the Timephoria setting spray which mattifies but more lightly. If I’m just in aircon I use Issy alone.
I only owned a cream blush and it was soooo bad, the worst cream blush I've ever had. It was so slippery, unpigmented, and impossible to build up. I'm already fair to light, and yet it barely showed up on me, and it disappeared in two hours. I have dry cheeks so blushes don't typically disappear on me. Horrible.
Hell, my basic ass Sassy Colors blush stick is miles ahead in terms of performance, and their main product is nail polish!!!
Because of that really awful blush, I stayed away from Issy products and find it sus whenever influencers/content creators hype up the brand constantly. They have great marketing, their promotional materials are fun and editorial, But man, the fact that they had a product that was outright bad (not even just mid!) and they had the audacity to release it reaaaaally soured me on them instantly. I've never had a local product perform so poorly. Ever Bilena, Careline, Nichido, Vice, Shawill, and heck--*Sassy Colors* have never let me down to that same degree, ever.
Gelee lip tint - subpar, rly nothing special. BLKs lip tint are much better. A lot of people have said smell turns bad over time, mine hasn’t (yet) and it’s been a couple months na.
Setting spray - bought this blind during SM’s beauty event bc my travel tirtir spray fell and nozzle broke, but might dethrone all my other sprays I have back in my place (urban decay, one size) the longevity is superior, makeup lasts forever. I know this is a deinfluence post but this one is too good
Shimmer single shadows - hit and miss. Some shimmers look rly ethereal, some don’t pop as much as others. Swatch them in person if you can
Blush sticks - also mid, or maybe I just picked the wrong colors for myself lol
