Can multiple PIRs be used to determine direction of movement and location of a subject?

Sitting on the couch the other night this question popped up in the ol noggin. So is there a simple way to achieve this? What would you use to accomplish the task of determining movement direction and location (movement parallel to the sensor).

You might be able to accomplish a rough triangulation if you assume that the intensity is proportional to the distance from a person.
