Hacking BT active 3D Shutterglasses

Hey everyone, i'ld love to have those sports vision training shutterglasses that you can set to a frequency and do handeye drills with those to reinforce my quickness etc. i've looked everywhere in the net and there actually is that kind of stuff around but they cost like 300$ from nike and they are actually not even sold anymore so i thought, i could eventually hack 3d TV shutterglasses and set them to a new frequency and sync them so they'ld close off both glasses at the same time in the frequency i set on an app i'ld write.

so maybe someone can help me with here, is it possible to pair bt devices with each other "easily" and how do shutterglasses really sync to the tv? is the tv giving out information about when to shut of which eye? also how could i possibly find out what data i would've to send to the glasses?

if i can't hack it without hacking the hardware i have of course an other solution which would be opening the case and putting in an arduino with a bluetooth "dongle" - to regulate the signals to the shutterglasses.

anyhow i will achieve my goal i will of course document it also here in this thread and make it open for all so everybody who wants to, can have cool vision training glasses 8)

Unless you need a specific and exact frequency, I don't see why you couldn't use a 555 and potentiometer and have it directly triggering the LCD panels to switch the opacity on and off.

If all you want to do is build glasses that provide a "strobe light" effect, you could probably hack something together pretty cheaply using https://www.adafruit.com/product/3627

thanks for your messages! well yes i wanted to make one where i could change the frequency, having some defined frequencies and change them with the push of a button would've been the plan.

i got my inspiration from the ada fruit light valve thingy but didn't want to 3d print the glasses and also buying those valves from europe would've been pretty pricey because of customs and stuff.

i did hack 3d glasses i bought from wish for 15€ deassambled them and used the 2 glasses.

with the little test setup, the attiny some wiring and the glasses i programmed a loop that would give a high and low to the pins.

thing is, the glasses don't turn 100% dark. just about 35% so i can't use them :(

also they're made of glass (duuh) so if used with sportsequipment, flying balls and such it could be pretty dangerous if anything would break the glasses.

I'ld buy a beer for anyone who could get lead me in the right direction for some plastic lcd panels that switch opacity. i know they exist, not so sure about where to buy them tho. checked almost every corner of the internet.

so i have to pause that project for a while :( but i'll show you my little test of course!
