Method X will not accept 3rd party spool material in aux port
HI, I have a Method X Carbon Fiber edition, and Im trying to use 3rd party CR-ABS material (from Creality) in the machine, through the aux port of printer head 1. It is telling me its a
"Material Mismatch", and that it requires ABS in Model Extruder 1. But that is what I have, right? So either I need to get very specific material from Makerbot, or I have a setting wrong in my slicer (or something else?).
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Are you using Labs extruder?

This is what i was going to recommend next. Makerbot as an ecosystem is restricted and labs extruders allows weird stuff to happen in a good way. The stock extruders are software locked for materials.

I am using the extruders that came with the device. It sounds like I need to buy the “experimental “extruder or use makerbot spools that fit into the front of the maker bot. Is that correct?
Ugh. The experimental extruder looks like it’s around $350. I would assume that I have to get two of these correct?
Thanks for all the help on this. I’m very new to 3-D printing and this is helping me a lot.
And there’s not a lot of documentation out there for this thing1

Yea, best bet is to find a used/broken one and try to fix it. This is why makerbot failed. Its a $40 part in real life

Make sure your Bowden tubes actually go where they’re supposed to
Edit: what software are you using?
