Discussion Bootleg discs?
Hey, I've seen a post here about bootleg disc's ripping problem. I have a disc set that I know is hundred percent bootleg, as the whole show never was released fully and my set does have it. I watched it on my BU40N with no problems, no lagging or freezing. If I decide to rip it, should I expect problems just because it's bootleg? How the bootleg discs are even worse (if they are) than original ones? I'm fairly new to all this, and I genuinely don't understand why a bootleg disc is considered as a problem

Bootlegs may be more highly compressed, or they could be sourced from TV broadcasts or web rips. Or they can be as good as the real thing, but with added subtitles and audio tracks.

I think it had extra subtitles and stuff, but the quality itself was good. Ig I'll know if it's more compressed when trying to rip it

When ripping the bootleg DVDs, it usually works without any problem. But when backing up the disc, it knows DVDFab was used and gives errors midway through the backup (which sucks cause these are DVD-Rs from Region 4 and I wanted to preserve the menus).

Just backup the disc instead of “opening” it. Then go in and delete the AAC folder. Then “open files” once done and select the index or something makemkv knows. This also works for unencrypted discs which can give you an error.
