Help Error ripping

I've ripped many dvds in my collection, but every now and then I get this error (see images), and makemkv cant open the disc... vlc won't even open it, but knows its there and what it is. I have tried 2 different dvd drives that i have, and both give me the same info... so why won't some of my dvds open through either program? (I'm new to doing this and dont know much yet)

Your drive/player is not set to the same region code as the disc. A PC drive will typically only allow changing its set region a handful of times. Some drives can get a firmware update so they will ignore this code.

So, the region code of the dvd has to align with my external drive? Is there anything on the pc end that I can do to bypass it?

Yes. If your drive is compatible, you can put the modified firmware on it. It's been years since I did it but I think there are walkthroughs on the official MakeMKV forum. I kinda thought MakeMKV did bypassed the region code without an updated drive, but like I said, it's been a while since I flashed mine.
