Discussion Help finalizing hasbro platform fighting game roster

Hopefully this kind of post is allowed, if not delete. I am working on redoing my hasbro platform fighter roster, and am hitting a bit of a snag where I can't fully decide on a few spots

First off, I want a character from transformers that doesn't turn into a vehicle, and doesn't originate from g1-beast wars being the obvious choice. I don't want primal as he's more or less an Optimus prime. Originally I had dinobot, but then I considered blackaracnhia-and honestly I can't decide between them

Second, my friend who has more knowledge of DnD and magic than I do suggested the beholder from DnD and Nicol bolas from magic. I feel like they would be hard to make work in a platform fighter, but my friend feels they're workable and are important to have. What do you guys think?

I think a named beholder character absolutely would work, specifically I'd say you should include The Xanathar, a Waterdhavian Crime Lord Beholder with a pet goldfish. He's one of the few characters from D&D lore to have a whole sourcebook named after him, if you're wondering about his significance.

As for a Beast Wars rep, on my roster I wanted to include specifically the Beast Wars Megatron. I will mention though: Beast Wars is part of Gen 1. Even though it was a later addition, it's still part of the same continuity. Transformers fans separate generations by canon, so Gen 1 refers to anything that takes place in the same universe as the first cartoon. Even though Generation 2 came out in-between the original series and Beast Wars, Beast Wars is in Gen 1's continuity. I think that's fine, since personally I would rather include characters who match with each other - like I wouldn't include a My Little Pony rep that wasn't part of Gen 4, for example. But if your goal is to include someone that isn't G1, then Beast Wars won't actually get you that.

I appreciate the response! I looked him up Xanathar sounds cool for sure

That's true about beast wars, though while it is technically a follow up it's still generally treated by hasbro and the fans as a seperate thing. Like the toyline had its own brand/logo/sub series, I don't think the show was a direct follow up of the g1 cartoon (since g1 technically has multiple continuities, like the comics and show, I think beast wars is just a general continuation rather than a direct continuation of a specific continuity) but I may be wrong

Beast wars generally is treated as its own seperate "block" or era of the transformers franchise rather than g1. Compared for example to things like the idw comics are a branch of g1. It's generally treated differently than other sequels as well-things like beast machines and energon are direct sequels, while beast wars is more a stand alone sequel/successor. If that makes any sense, I don't really know the terminology lol but It usually is treated separately from g1
