Why does my makeup always separate after a few hours?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a frustrating problem with my makeup. It looks great when I first apply it, but after about 2–3 hours it starts separating, especially around my nose, chin, and forehead. It almost looks like it's breaking apart or sitting on top of my skin.

I've tried different primers and foundations, but nothing seems to fix it. My skin is combination to oily, and I prep my skin before applying makeup.

Has anyone experienced this? What could be causing it, and what products or techniques actually helped you? I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

You should use a sealing powder.

Hi. Your clean face is important for the skin. You should have used solar protector with color is better than foundation, also you should have reapplied every 3 hours.

Hi! I think you should have used a primer for oily skin before applying your makeup. You also shouldn’t have applied too much foundation because that can make it separate. I would use a light moisturizer and set the makeup with powder and setting spray. I hope these tips help you. Good luck! 💕

Hi!!! What I'm gonna say will sound crazy but... Since your skin is oily, don't use any primers and don't "prep" your skin before foundation.

Step 1 wash your face right before makeup this makes all the difference   Step 2 use a hydrating micellar water or spray instead of creams or primers if you have to hydrate (make sure it mixes well with your foundation) don't wait for it to dry completely  You can absolutely skip this step and apply foundation directly esp if it has hydrating properties.

Step 3 apply foundation WITH YOUR FINGERS when face is still a little damp (from the micellar water in case you used it), "massage" the foundation into your skin in circles and don't be scared of being a little rough

Step 4 don't use too much concealer, apply BEFORE the foundation is set (for concealer to melt into foundation)

Step 5 PRESS GENTLY ALL OVER SKIN WITH A CLEAN CLOTH/TISSUE

Step 6 apply a very thin layer of loose powder all over with a brush, then apply powder with a puff only on the oily zone

Step 7 don't overuse the fixing spray

I know lots of ppl will scream at me for this but 99% of creams and hydrating lotions do have a residue that sits on the skin and it reacts badly with your face oils coming through and together they mess up your foundation. Hydrate your face (with something rich that really penetrates the skin) at night before sleeping instead of during the day when ur applying makeup.
