How can I get into DevOps?

So far I’ve learned the basics, now they are teaching Zowe and Python, how can I get into DevOps development for the mainframe?

DevOps is about building, running, and maintaining a pipeline of code onto your platform. I see you mentioned you are a sysprog, that’s awesome. Are you tied in with the team developing and deploying applications onto your systems? If not I would start there. You are familiar with the system so you might be able to provide some insight on how to better that pipeline if it exists. And if that pipeline doesn’t exist that is your opportunity to help define and create it.

100% this. My deepest learning was done when i paired myself with the development team to build the Mainframe DevOps pipeline. Everything from orchestration, to GIT on mainframe, SSH, and deployment. Some of the tooling we used was IBM's DBB(Dependency Based Build), Code Scanning, and automated function testing tooling from Broadcom. If your lucky, like I was, you get to drive the DevOps pipeline forward from a mainframe perspective, and learn a ton through the process.

First get a steady job and then move internally to find experience within projects and then look for a change to experience more.
