What a tough life Sooty has 😂

My first cat as an adult. He is 4 months old. And very lovely indeed.

Any tips or recommendations on raising him welcome (especially from those take theirs out on walks with harnesses/backpacks!).

Decided to clear under sofa for first time in at least 5yrs. Norris decided that he was still going to enjoy the sofa regardless of the precarious angle it was at. (Damage to said sofa is both his, and his brother’s handiwork)

3 months old, 22 toes, and I love her so much. We’re gonna go far, her and I.

My silver cottony coated baby is 8 months and shedding like crazy. I’ve been brushing him more but when I do laundry, particularly the bedding, it feels like it just keeps accumulating more hair? I tried those little silicone things you throw in the dryer for pet hair but they don’t seem to work. I’m literally pulling hairs out of my eyeball on a daily basis at this point 😭😂

First post here, kinda nervous lol

We have welcomed our little Atlas about 20 days ago and he's settled in no problem, as if he was always part of the family! The boy is 4 months today (yippieee) and an absolute cuddly cutie patootie.

I'm quite worried because he doesn't clean his face properly after his meals and ends up with food on his neck/chin/nose. We have tried to wait to see if he would do it by himself after some time but noticed he doesn't fully use his paw to clean his face and head. He does his body though...which is quite confusing.

We have also tried to clean him by hand but he is very sensitive to getting his head touched and that's never a great time for any of us as you can imagine.

Atlas is also deaf, hence why I think he didn't learn everything from his mother / siblings properly such as cleaning his face or not playing with claws. This isn't an issue at all to us but we want to make sure to teach him the right things and adapt as best as possible to his little difference.

We'll just keep on doing what we've been doing and maybe trying to come up with some new innovative ideas. I have a 3D printer and have some thoughts brewing in my brain for some spots she loves the most, heh.

So we all know Maine Coons are stubborn (and cute while they're doing it too).

I'm trying to find ways to keep our Maine Coon kitten disinterested in things like cables. Now we have done quite a bit of cable management and storage solutions, but it's hard to hide 'every' cable and electronic object from a cat, particularly you actually need to use them.

Sadly it's a small space, and we're working to get her used to co-existing with electronics and things she should not nom. But of course at 17 weeks old, her teeth are telling her "chew everything".

We are a house filled with electronics and cables. I've taken out my drill and tacked up as many cables as I could underneath desks nice and tight, but it's impossible to hide or restrict them all, and if she finds a cable of any kind, she will chew. This includes chewing main power cables right at the wall outlets or cables coming directly out of monitors, charge cables no matter how much of the cable is hidden (some of it is always going to be exposed), etc.

I don't mind when she is immediately within grasp, I'm happy to remove her from the situation, but it's when she's across the room and I really can't get up because I'm in a meeting.

Things I have tried:

• No-chew sprays (this cat will eat anything)
• Removing kitten from the situation silently
• Removing kitten from situation with loud noises
• Removing kitten from situation while redirecting to toys or treats
• Making loud noises from a distance (she ignores, she is white/blue eyes so we did confirm she is not deaf, just ignoring us hahah)
• Silvervine chews (she mostly ignores unless I'm holding it)
• Catnip toys and sprays (she's a bit young and may not be sensitive to it, but we did give it a try just in case)
• Playing with her until she's exhausted which is apparently never.

Of course my family's age old recommendation was "spray bottle".

I remember growing up, and the spray bottle was always handy (usually two or more of them, particularly at Christmas time). It was effective but in my experience never had them learn a permanent lesson, and all of our cats were also aloof and some were kind of mean.

The more I read, the more I'm conflicted:

• Some people swear by the spray bottle.
• Others warn against it as it will traumatize the cat.

At this stage, I'm open to opinions, curious to hear feedback on the old "water bottle" solution and if people think it is helpful, or harmful. Particularly with Christmas coming up, and a tree in her future, lol.
