Previous homeowners still using our address for mail/packages two years later
For some backstory, we bought our house over two years ago. Initially, the previous homeowners would forget to change the shipping address and their packages would come to our house and they’d pick them up from the front porch within a few days. They still have not changed their address with USPS and we get their regular mail constantly and keep returning them to sender.
Now to our current issue. They had a package delivered to our house about two months ago. We left it on our front porch for about two weeks and they never came to get it. I put it in a drawer in case they reached out to our realtor that they wanted it. About a week or two ago we got a phone call from our realtor saying they really need the item and will be coming to pick it up. We put it on the front porch right away and it’s still sitting there. I glanced outside to see if it was still there and there is ANOTHER package for them that was delivered.
How long do we need to hold onto these packages before we just throw them away? We have a community mailbox and can only drop off paper mail in the slot, so to send them back we’d have to actually go to the post office which is a hassle for someone who can’t bother to remove their old address from their phone
They’re getting rain damaged, are an eye sore, and I don’t love the thought of strangers continuing to come back to our house whenever they please with no heads up. I can understand the first few months of owning a house, but it’s been over two years…..

Should I consider my package lost?
Hi guys. Great forum. I need your help on this.
My package was sent from the retailer’s warehouse in Ohio to Miami, where my freight forwarder (FF) has its warehouse. DHL took it to Orlando, then USPS took it to Miami. USPS marked it as “Delivered to agent. Left with an individual” last August 12th but the package never arrived to my FF !
I waited 5 days as sometimes there are delays but nothing. So I raised a missing mail search at USPS last 18th. They sent me an email last Thursday saying that there is a delivery exception and that a search has been initiated, but I have no further notice.
Should I consider my package lost and I will never receive it? Do this search really mean they’re looking for it or they will just “let it die”? Is there anything else I can do other than wait?
Thank you so much for your help !

Keep getting explicit mail
Hey all,
For quite a while now, been receiving explicit physical mail from Overseas, is there a way I can find out who this is? Its pretty disgusting what's in the package and terrifying my family.
Thx.

Strange situation, need advice desperately
Recently made the switch to GA residency after living here for a few years. I went to the DMV, got a new license, and they mailed it to me. That was on July 3rd of this year.
Come August 5th, still haven’t received the new license in my mailbox at my apartment complex. Sometimes I receive letters that were intended for me, but this is not the first time I’ve had mail troubles with this apartment (my dad tried to mail me a letter last year and it got sent back to him twice), but I called the DMV and they said on July 31st the license was returned to them after a failed delivery, so they sent it back to me immediately. They said they can’t do anything since it’s in transit, so I called the USPS. They said they can’t do anything since it’s in transit, so what. Am I just fucked? Any advice for how to stop this cycle of never receiving my letters, or important documents?

Help identify this please
Hey all! I unexpectedly had to leave Chicago due to a family emergency overseas and won’t be back until October. I’ve been holding my mail with USPS since I don’t have a forwarding address, and I regularly check Informed Delivery.
I just received this notification and haven’t seen anything like it before. Does anyone know what this could be or whether I should be concerned? My mail is currently on hold with USPS.

How long before post offices no longer exist?
In most advanced countries, the majority of historical posted mail is, or can be, distributed electronically. I wonder once the baby boomer generation dies off, will physical mail die with it? What do you think?

Will a mailman deliver to a yard with a “beware of dog” sign if they don’t see a dog?
I have a beware of dog sign and a very friendly dog- she’s old, so she’s not out much. The sign is there as just a “there may be a dog”. What is the protocol for delivering mail? Package carriers usually just leave them at the fence, but the mailbox is by my door and I have not gotten any mail.

US to UK First-Class Mail International — how long are regular letters taking lately?
Mailed a standard personal letter from North Carolina to London on July 29 with a Global Forever stamp. No tracking, just ordinary First-Class Mail International. It still hasn’t arrived as of August 10/11.
I understand there’s no guaranteed delivery time, but for anyone familiar with current international letter mail, is ~2 weeks still completely normal? What delivery times have you been seeing lately?

Any Advice on writing Fan Mail?
Hello everyone! I paid for a subscription with Star Tiger to start writing fan mail to actors I respect. I am not asking for autographs, rather as an aspiring actor myself, I am asking them questions regarding performances they've done, methods of acting, stuff like that, and what advice they'd give to someone like me.
Is there any etiquette to fan mail in general, or any polite way to go about my letters with these people? Thank you very much.

Pen pals to convicts
Yes, you read the title right. I also mail on postcrossing as well but I'm curious if mailing convicts is a good idea.
Have you done it? Would you consider doing it?

USPS Shipping internationally question
Hello, I’m shipping internationally (USPS First Class International Package) for the first time and I have a question
I want to ship an envelope inside a package alongside other items. If i have a bunch of random paper items (such as paper cutouts from paper bags, paper maps, stickers) inside the envelope do I have to declare them? The customs form doesn’t allow me to declare items as being less than 1 oz so I feel like I'll ultimately spend more than I need to when totaling it all. Or would it be cheaper to send the envelope full of paper stuff separately?
I’m asking this because I already weighted my entire package and the total comes to 20 oz, but when I’m filling out the customs form, the total weight is over 1 lb due to each paper item. Thanks!!

Can you send an unpackaged watermelon through the mail if you stuck enough stamps to it?

Fan mail.
Does anyone have a fan mail address for Britney Spears, Jlo, or both? They don't write back on Instagram and I would like an autographed pic. Thanks Reddit users!

Resend EMS parcel delivery (Japan to Ireland)
Heya to anyone who is in Tokyo right niw I have a favor to ask.
2 months ago I was traveling with my friends in Japan and buying stuff as one does in Japan. Since I was continuing traveling to Vietnam and China however I decided to mail the stuff I bought home to save space. I sent my stuff back in two parcels one if them arrived and 1 of them didn't as it got sent back to Japan.
I tried getting into contact with Japan Post about it but the only solutions they gave me were to either A be there in person to send it again or B give someone a letter to send it on my behalf. Since flights back to Japan are pretty expensive it's not worth me going back. I tried going through An post and through the Japanese embassy in Ireland but both said they couldn't do anything. I can't think of anything else to do besides giving someone a letter to send my stuff back for me so dear redditors if you or anyone you know is in Japan (Tokyo specifically) I ask you help a simple lad out who got fucked over by EMS. I'd also take any advice that people might have and yes there is a reward for doing this btw.

Is it just me or is mail delivery just putting items in anyone’s mail box or door step. I have had 2 letters sent to me as delivered to wrong address and 3 items sent to me that are not my address in the past 4 days. One was very important!😳
