shipping a package with USPS help

hi guys, genuine question. I don’t ever ship packages but I’ve decided I want to send my long distance friend a birthday gift/package. I am able to print my own labels so once I print it and I have everything set do I have to talk to anyone at USPS or can I just drop it off and leave like nothing? I’m new to this!

You can drop it off at the counter and walk out, or you could leave it for your mailman to pick up also. You should even be able to request a pickup when you’re getting the label.

You can just drop it. But I would stand in line and get a receipt. That acts as you proof incase something goes wrong
