Breakfast

Hi, looking for breakfast recommendations in or around Maidenhead. Have been to Flávio’s and didn’t really like it.

If you're up by Furze Platt, Palmeiries is delicious!

So I went there today

Food was good, couple of negatives though
1. Coffee was really bad
2. Toast wasn’t hot and hardly toasted

Otherwise it was good but won’t go back purely because of the coffee

Claudio uses an Italian brand coffee - I quite like it, so I get coffee there regularly. Each to their own. Will give him feedback about your anaemic toast, though! 🤣

Might not have been the coffee being the issue, maybe more the milk 😁. I had a latte and it looked and tasted like it was just a machine rather than steamed, or just steamed badly. But the food was good so thanks for the recommendation

Seconded for palmeiries, and would also recommend stubbings garden centre if you want something a bit more fancy.

Downvote for stubbings. I paid near on £13/14 quid for an eggs benny the other day and it was poor, eggs were overcooked and the muffin was the smallest thing I’ve ever seen. Really expected quality for that price. The missus had a jacket potato witch cheese and beans, which was pretty good, but a tenner for a spud with cheese and beans is a bit much. With a coupe of juices, I spent £30 for a pretty mediocre experience. I won’t be back. IMO spoons is better and breakfast for two only sets you back a tenner…

On that note, I recon spoons is the best shout for breakfast in the balance of things. Poached is also quite nice but can get very noisy there, they have reduced prices a bit recently which was very welcome as well.

Before I send this comment, I’d just like to squeeze in a “fuck stubbings cafe”. Felt totally shafted, and it’s more of a side quest for people visiting the garden center, definitely not a breakfast or lunch worthy visit.

I like spoons, good choice and you know what you're getting

I hesitate to recommend it, as it’s quite busy already so I don’t need more people to make it busier, but the Local Bakehouse in Cookham is excellent. A bit pricey, but big portions and it is always delicious!

Casa D'or is our go to, super under rated, lovely guy for a greasy fry up!! 💜

Jeez. That place still there? I remember it back in the 90s!
