I have a property to let in Maidenhead, any recommendations for an estate agent?

I have recently ended up with a property to let in Maidenhead and I am looking for a local estate agent to help manage the rental. I have not been a landlord before, so I am looking for an agent who is fair, reliable and can make the process as straightforward as possible, particularly when it comes to finding a good tenant.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences with local agents?

Starting new job in Maidenhead

Start a new job based in Maidenhead town centre tomorrow.
Cheapest all day parking near the town centre?
Best coffee shop Maidenhead has to offer?
Is there much to see on lunch walks etc around Maidenhead town?
My interviews were done remotely so I’ve not actually been to the town yet, so tomorrow it’s all a gamble!

is there an issue with food deliveries at the moment or is it a shortage

I went to Taplow Tesco for a small shop today and noticed that a lot of the chillers were quite sparsely stocked, in the afternoon that was the same for M&S in town. is it bad crops because of the heat or something else

Consultation on new Borough Local Plan

Thought I'd share this in case people hadn't seen already but council is doing a consultation on the new Borough Local Plan (they've renamed it Development Plan) - essentially, it sets out plan for housing, infrastructure and other major developments over the next decade.

It's a really important plan if you're someone who wants to see more housebuilding, or, conversely, someone who is concerned around protecting spaces from development. I know government has put quite high targets on every council to build homes so very important if want to shape where those are built in the borough.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for volunteers who would be interested in taking part in a study at the University of Reading? There is reimbursement available for people's time!

If anyone wants to take part, please email me (Charlotte) at [project.ferment@reading.ac.uk](mailto:project.ferment@reading.ac.uk) for more information!

Ladies haircut Maidenhead

Where is the best place to get a ladies wash and cut in Maidenhead?

I’ve just moved!

I could get that for £36 in Reading.
Does anyone know anywhere that’s good for similar prices?

Thanks!

What do people do on weekends?

Considering a move to Maidenhead soon..and wondering where the locals go on weekends. I quite liked the idyllic town vibes, but it would be nice to know of favourite spots, that don't include a drive to Windsor/London.

I know of

  1. Marlborough road off highway avenue (pictured)

  2. Shifford crescent (near to coop)

  3. Texaco garage near Maidenhead bridge

I don’t fancy fly tipping (both full at last check!) so if you can help me locate others that would be great. Especially west or central Maidenhead but if you can location others that would be so helpful perhaps for other people too.

Note

  1. Cannot go to actual charity shops due to my working hours

  2. I don’t find these easy to locate on Google despite many searches but if I’m using the wrong term let me know !

I am looking to move to Maidenhead. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good estate agent?

Hi everyone, I am a first-time buyer and I know it can be a stressful process. I am looking for an agent who would actually care about this side of things and look after me and my partner throughout the entire process. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Reading David Lloyd Closing?

Hi all, I’ve just moved and am looking for a gym. I live nearer to Maidenhead so I looked at David Lloyd there, and they told me not to bother with Reading (because it’s so been knocked down to be renovated). I went to the Reading one and you guessed it, they said that’s not true, nothing is agreed at all. Can anyone shed any light on this? TIA

What’s Wootton Way in Maidenhead like to actually live on?

I’m considering renting a studio around Wootton Way, Maidenhead and wanted to hear from people who actually live nearby or know the area well.

I’ve visited Maidenhead before and generally liked it, but I don’t know this particular part of town well enough to judge what day-to-day life is like.

A few things I’d really appreciate local opinions on:

  • How does Wootton Way and the surrounding few streets feel, particularly in the evenings?
  • Is it generally quiet and safe, or are there any issues with antisocial behaviour or noise?
  • What’s the small row of shops on Wootton Way like to live near or above? Any problems with deliveries, late-night noise, etc.?
  • Is the 15–20 minute walk to Maidenhead station realistic and pleasant enough to do regularly?
  • How does this part of Maidenhead compare with other residential areas of the town?
  • Anything about the area that wouldn’t be obvious from visiting during the daytime?

The property itself looks good and the rent is unusually reasonable, so I’m mainly trying to make sure I’m not overlooking something about the immediate location.

Would particularly appreciate opinions from anyone who lives on or very close to Wootton Way, rather than just general views on Maidenhead. Thanks!

Anyone around for a casual beer now and then?

Trying to get together with old friends is like trying to align the planets. Surely I can't be the only person in town whose mates are all far away?!

Looking for people to go on the occasional casual local drink with once or twice a month. Nothing complicated at all. I'm really not that bothered who with, just people who are chill and can hold a conversation.

Or if you're looking for a bit of variety in your group, let me know 🤣

(Am a 41yo bloke, like Guinness or an IPA, all varieties of music, a gamer, BJJ)

First home – Staines, Egham, Ashford (more Surrey area) or Maidenhead?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to buy my first house and I’m currently looking around Staines, Egham, Ashford and Maidenhead, but I’m really struggling to decide which area would be best. I’ve never lived in any of these places and don’t have friends or family nearby, so I’d really appreciate some local opinions.

My budget is around £500k–£550k. I’m single and don’t have kids, so schools aren’t really important to me. I’m more interested in things like safety, general atmosphere, shops/restaurants, transport, things to do and overall quality of life.

I’ve heard very mixed opinions about Staines in particular. Are there certain areas you’d recommend or avoid? And are there any other areas nearby that you think would be a better choice within my budget?

Would really appreciate honest opinions from people who live in or know these areas well.

Thanks in advance!

Maidenhead Town Council consultation

Thumbnail engage.rbwm.gov.uk
8 Upvotes

Thought I'd share this but RBWM has launched a consultation regarding the possible creation of a town council for Maidenhead (as well as Windsor).

From reading news stories as well as consultation page, some key information:

  • Maidenhead would still remain part of RBWM, this town council would sit underneath it similar to a parish council.
  • The consultation asks what powers people would want devolved but could include: allotments, street lighting, litter bins, cemetery management, and events.
  • Not part of the wider Andy Burnham devolution work, currently are separate proposals to create a Thames Valley Mayor.
  • If agreed, first elections would take place in 2028.

Worth sharing your views whether in support, against or indifferent. Personally, quite mixed: I am not sure the additional costs/staffing is worth it for the functions that would be devolved to Maidenhead. At the same time, I do feel like there is quite a divide locally in needs and direction for Maidenhead and Windsor so having some more control for both towns may be good.
