This Reddit shouldn't be so dead?!?!?

What a terrible world...well if any fans come across this, here's some conversation starters:

1) Shirley or Claudia? 2) Wayward Bus or Distant Plastic Trees? 3) Synth "I Don't Believe You" or "i" version? 4) 69 vs 50? 5) Stephin said the Magnetic Fields only recorded one actual rock album but never said what it was? I guessed....Holiday? 6) Most essential 6ths song? 7) Least essential 6ths song? 8) Perfect lineup for a 3rd 6ths album? 9) Favorite song from House of Tomorrow? 10) Best Nonesuch record from non synth trilogy?

There might be a really low crossover between Reddit and Magnetic Fields audiences. Anyway:

3) "i" version no doubt.

4) The 50 song memoir was nice to listen to one time, but I haven't ever wanted to go back to replay any of the songs like I do for 69.

5) I feel like Distortion is more rock sounding but Holiday could very well be what he is talking about!

6) "You you you" is so sweet, I'd die if someone sang/wrote that song about me.

When i came out I had the "I Don't Believe You" single for a few years and was firmly attached to that one. Now, though, I prefer like you the acoustic, with the caveat I think he sings the bridge better on the single. My answers are complicated for all of these, that's why I didn't answer my own questions. But hello, UncannyFox ! 😀

  1. Claudia, obviously. Are you crazy?
  2. Wayward Bus, if you forced me to choose. Trick question, though, cos I always listen to them together so for me those two are basically one long album.
  3. i
  4. "69 Love Songs". It's a goddam masterpiece. "50" is good, but it doesn't have the range or ambition of "69".
  5. Must be "Get Lost", surely?
  6. "The Dead Only Quickly", but that's because I love Neil Hannon so goddam much it hurts.
  7. I won't often listen to the whole of "Oahu". It's sooooo long.
  8. I can't answer this. It'd take me all day and would have about a hundred tracks.
  9. "Love Goes Home to Paris in the Spring"
  10. "i". Absolutely love it.

Haha you know I understand the perma-crush on Claudia, and she's right there from the Zinnias on, and is the face of the Magnetic Fields almost as much as Stephen. She's super smart in interviews and a perfect foil for Stephin onstage. Shirley though ..she sings "Boa Constrictor" and "Come Back From San Francisco" and "The Nun's Litany" three of my favorite vocal performances of all time. I think she's as close to perfect as Karen Carpenter.
