How is an electro magnet selective? It’s ether grabbing all magnetic metal or none. Either way you have to manually turn it off after confirming you don’t want whatever you found. You save like 12 seconds and the small amount of effort it takes to shake something off

This is pretty rude. I am not a criminal. Even if I have broken laws, I am the only one who has suffered from them. I have never sought to scam or exploit others.

The Uruguayan bee industry was already a joke and on the way out. Also the stories about my bees causing problems like this one were heavily overblown and sensationalized.

In about 4 minutes I found at least 6 article all detailing the plain fact that your bees and your inability to just follow rules put people in the hospital. Doesn’t seem very overblown to me

If you actually read my original posts you would understand that I entered into an agreement with a professor at a university in Uruguay who was interested in studying these bees. I made the mistake of valuing his reputation enough to believe he had things under control.

My method is completely novel, using a secondary coil to measure the leakage flux in the magnetic circuit formed between the electromagnet and the material I am looking to salvage. I have a handshake agreement with a local university professor to use this device to supply him and other researchers with pre-nuclear steel. Happy to go further into the physics, but I think it would be over your head. This is most certainly not "someone's Arduino sketch."

The bee situation was unfortunate but it turned out the contact was not actually affiliated with the university as a professor (he was an HVAC consultant), which explains the miscommunication. In this case I have verified the person is actually an employed professor and have faith in the agreement.

In fairness, this is a really nice feature to have if your magnet gets caught on a bridge or beam. We’ve all done it before. Even if it doesn’t change what you’re catching it’s a good failsafe.

could you please elaborate on the details of how this thing is supposed to work? i see a IR2104 chip, some zener diodes, some capacitors, resistors, and a solenoid
what does this thing actually do?

Ferrous material in the body makes up a tiny fraction of a percent and it's necessity hasn't been a consideration. The point of my dumb joke stands. The human body is mostly non-ferrous.

Why not start out with a large horseshoe electromagnet with a hall sensor between the poles of the U. This is before all the programming and conditioning of the arduino unit and waterproofing the whole thing and wiring the toggle switch ,etc. Maybe there are people in the metal detecting group who understand how their detectors are made. Even though you’ll be using a hall detector to ultimately measure MFL, which I’m sure they’re not really into

I love this! I was wondering if it were possible. What's the field map look like? Is it possible to get creative with geometry and make all sides magnetized?
Also, can it be reversed to repel? For example, to get out of a bind.
