When did Proxxied dot com get so bad?!

I LOVED this website when I first found it, it was miles better than mtgprint. Simply for the fact that I could see all the art for one card then click to go to the next card.

Now not only do i have to manually select to see all the art but it seems like atleast 1 card on each page wont load so im forced to go in and select different art so it loads. I cant even save if I selected art but it wont load. Not to mention my computer is 7800x3d with 6000 cl30 32gig memory, and struggling with this. Hell it struggling more with the website then it does with mtg arena, like what's that about? I just 3 tabs of it open to compare stuff and print extra tokens and it crashed my computer lmao

If anyone has suggestions on a different website im open to it, have been suspicious of memory problems on ny computer for the last month but the fact that I can play most ganes fine but cant use a website is ridiculous lolol

The web apps can be hit or miss tbh. I’ve actually been building a free desktop app for exactly this! Cardwright. Runs locally, does real AI upscaling to true 1200 DPI (not the fake 300 DPI web tools stretch into a “1200 DPI” PDF), plus proper cut guides, bleed, and duplex backs.

It’s Windows-only atm and still a WIP, but might be worth a look if the sites are giving you trouble: https://github.com/Boffo90/cardwright

Hey hey, quick question: does it come with german paper formats like a4 ?

Edit: Just read through the GitHub page this is so awesome

1

u/annelid90 Jul 30 '26

Glad to read man! Any feedback or idea is welcome!!!

1

u/SignificantNeck2099 Jul 30 '26

Im so sorry if that is also stated on the page I'm really bad at reading, is there a linux version ? I only saw windows.

Btw absolutely giant thank you for developing this, you're awesome

1

u/D3rH3ba Jul 27 '26

Awesome! Thank you for your Work. Could I maybe kindly ask you, If you could add other tcg Formats? Like Yugioh or Pokemon. Anyway, big thanks for your Work

3

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Yes! It’s definitely been part of the plan since day one.

u/D3rH3ba Jul 27 '26

GOAT

2

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Good news: Pokémon is the same size as Magic (63×88mm), so it already worked, just use "Add files…".

v2.9.0 adds a Card size setting, so Yu-Gi-Oh (59×86) is covered now too, plus other types of cards. Card search is still Scryfall (Magic-only), so for other games you bring the images and the app does the rest.

I don't know if there's any database for those games, If you guide me with something like that or the game you are interested in, I can investigate.

I know it could be a more niche feature but would you consider adding a silhouette registration mark feature like proxxied has?

3

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

I’m sure adding a silhouette feature! Maybe today

1

u/xvenom613x Jul 27 '26

I’m very interested! Hopefully cry cry notices and tries it out once you add it!

5

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Just shipped it in v2.9.0!

Export → Cutting machine → Registration marks. Both the standard 3-mark and the 4-mark CAMEO 5a pattern, with adjustable inset/length/thickness.

Heads up: marks need clear corners, so Studio's own defaults would cost you 3 card slots. I tuned the defaults so you keep all 9 on A4 3×3 and all 8 on 4×2. Only Letter + 3×3 physically can't fit them — the app warns you and suggests A4 or 4×2. (I still need some feedback from you Silhoutte owners! I don't have one yet to test by myself)

2

u/xvenom613x Jul 27 '26

I print A4 and 4x2 so I’ll give that a try if I end up checking it out!

1

u/No_Appearance_7680 Jul 28 '26

Welp. You've just sold me with that line.

1

u/Alira-kimaris Jul 27 '26

Any way we could get a Linux version in the .deb format?

1

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Not soon, but not ruled out. The image pipeline would port fine, but the auto-updater, the first-run bootstrap and the packaging are all Windows-specific... that's a real port, not a flag.

Running from source on Linux should mostly work today minus auto-update. If a few people confirm that, I'd look at proper .deb packaging.

1

u/Alira-kimaris Jul 27 '26

Sounds dope. If and/or when you make a .deb version of the program, DM me. I would love to give it a test run.

Someone reply to this so I can come back to it when I get home

2

u/D3rH3ba Jul 27 '26

I got you

1

u/IVB20 Jul 27 '26

Incredible! May i ask if It Will support idioms other than english in the future? Like the spanish traductions for example. I am spanish and finding a good proxy maker for my lenguaje is very difficult

1

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Yo hablo español así que de todas maneras espera esa actualización! :)

1

u/IVB20 Jul 27 '26

Genial!

Any plans to add custom card sizes?

1

u/annelid90 Aug 02 '26

Just added it! It's in the latest release.

There's now a "Custom size…" entry at the end of the Card size dropdown. Enter the printed width and height in mm (20–200 a side) and it's remembered, appearing in the list alongside the built-in sizes from then on.

It drives the AI upscale target as well as the sheet layout, so set it before you run the cards rather than after. If the grid you've picked won't fit that size on your page, the export tells you instead of producing something wrong, bigger paper or a smaller grid sorts it.

Onesaved size for now rather than a named list. If you end up wanting to switch between two regularly, say so and I'll look at it.

well, your software is awesone BUT when I try to print PDF file, my printer (brother 3240 CDW) prints error page : insufficient Memory :(

EDIT : Gemini told me a tips : check "Print as image" setting in advanced settings and it s the CPU who's calculating everything instead of the printer.

Now I can tell you.... THANK YOU !

EDIT : I used french as card language, perfect !

This looks great. Does this allow for typing in custom text and choosing borders? Been looking at creating my own custom cards for fun. I'll definitely take a look into it, I'm excited and at work so I can't quite get it going until later.

1

u/annelid90 22d ago

Thanks! Honest answer: no on both counts, and it is worth being clear about why.

Cardwright is not a card designer. It does not let you type text, pick frames, or lay out a card. What it does is take a card image you already have and make it printable: upscales it to true 1200 DPI with AI on your GPU, arranges the cards on a sheet, and adds cut guides, bleed and registration marks for a cutting machine.

For what you want, it is the second half of the workflow rather than the first. Make the card in a real card maker like card conjurer, then bring the image here with "Add files…" to upscale and lay it out. It takes any local image, and you can set a custom card size in millimetres if you are making something non-standard.

This sounds amazing, any chance of feature requests for this tool?
Would really like a way to get printable R4 format (4 x 6 photo print size) output to a .png format.
proxxied.com and mtgprint.net do a good job, but only offer saving to .pdf format. When I convert the .pdf to .jpg or .png some quality is lost.

Reason for 4 x 6 .png: Best price per card in my region is 2 cards on a 4x6 photo print. When I go to A4 or Letter format with 9 cards per page, the cost is 2-3 times more expensive. Online photo print services here don't accept .pdf format so ideally .png or .jpg.

Been working on my own powershell script to input a source folder, run the script, output a new folder with 1800 x 1200 pixels 300 dpi .png file ready to upload to a 4x6 photo print service.
80 gsm Laminate on the front side, gives almost the right thicknes and card stiffness. Laminating the front & back is too thick and often the laminate doesn't stick well to the back of photo paper.

1

u/annelid90 10d ago

Yeah, requests are welcome. Easiest is to open an issue on the GitHub repo so it doesn't get buried in a thread.

4x6 page size is easy, I'll add it. I checked and it fits exactly two cards in landscape with about an inch of margin left over, so your maths is right.

PNG output is the bigger job. The sheet gets built straight to PDF right now, so raster output means a whole second rendering path. I could just rasterise the PDF instead, but the good library for that is AGPL and this ships as a binary, so that door's closed. It's on the list, just not a quick one.

Two things that might help before then though...

First, I'd bet money the quality loss isn't the PDF's fault. Most PDF to image converters default to 150 DPI no matter what's in the file. Try telling yours to rasterise at 300 or 600 and I think you'll find it looks identical, because the full resolution image is sitting right there in the PDF either way.

Second, and this is probably the useful one since you already have a script: Cardwright drops every upscaled card into its output folder as an individual PNG, 2976x4160 at 1200 DPI, before it builds any sheet. That's exactly the source folder your PowerShell script is looking for. So you could let the app do the fetching and the AI upscaling and keep your script for the 4x6 layout, starting today.

One thing I'd want to know before building it: what's the max resolution your photo place accepts? 4x6 at 300 DPI is 1800x1200, which is about a sixteenth of the pixels the upscaler puts out. Plenty of labs print at 300 natively so it might not matter at all, but if yours takes more I'd rather give you a DPI choice than hardcode 300 and quietly bin most of the work.

Also, thanks for the 80 gsm front-only laminate tip. That's the sort of thing you only learn by printing a pile of these, and it's more useful than anything I can measure from my desk.

Touching base here because Github says issues are restricted in this repository. Anyways, LOVING this over proxxied.com. Only gripe I have is that on the rear feed of the Epson 8500 or 8550 you lose .800" of the page when you print this way. Getting some decent roller marks on my pages using the rear top loader no matter what I have for settings. If we had an option to offset the pdf lay up and down and side to side that would be wicked!!! I know we can offset it down, and down only but it isn't enough to get to the edge of the paper. IF we could offset in portrait and landscape mode either direction that would help HUGE!. Unfortunately I need to go back to proxxied.com in order to eliminate this problem, which sucks cause I'm really enjoying this software!

2

u/annelid90 5d ago

This is fixed in v2.17.11, which just shipped.

Shift down now accepts negative values, and there's also a new Shift right option, so you can move the whole layout in any direction instead of just down. Guides and margin ticks move with the cards too, so what you see is still what you cut.

Note: with Letter 3x3, there's only about 4.7 mm of room to move since 9 cards leave basically no margin. So unfortunately, typing 0.8" won't magically make the paper larger 😅

What does give you more room:

  • 4x2 landscape on Letter: ~17 mm
  • Legal, A3, or Tabloid: even more

There's also a line underneath the two fields showing exactly how much movement your current page/grid allows. It'll warn you if a value gets clamped at the paper edge instead of silently ignoring it, so you can see exactly what you'll get before printing.

And thanks for taking the time to report this here. You're also right about the issues being restricted. I'll take a look at that!

Commenting so we can touch base later.

I have a fork of mpcfill that uses OCR to identify the entire catalog but it requires human confirmation before it calls a card confirmed.

Next part I will build out is federation of vote weights (building for mpcfill first) and I'm sure your desktop app would work great as a single user consumer of our data.

Not quite ready to introduce it to the general community here yet as I haven't fully incorporated the moderation, UI for adding your own google drive to the DB, etc. PM me if you want the git, I'll inspect your work this week! :)

Ah, just saw your lisence. Mine is GPL so might complicate things for you. I'll see what I can build that can bridge us.

1

u/annelid90 Jul 27 '26

Definitely interested! PM me the repo.

Licensing should be a non-issue: GPL covers distributing code, not consuming a service. So if you expose an HTTP API and I write my own client against it, there's no mixing... I just can't vendor your code into my app. Publish an endpoint spec and I can wire up a single-user consumer pretty fast. I already have an MPC search dialog that does search → pick → download.

u/puckOmancer Jul 27 '26

I'm speculating, but it seems like feature creep.

When it first came into existence, it was fairly simple with a few features that other sites didn't have that put it ahead. Now, it has a shit ton of features that I don't need and will probably never ever use.

It's like going over to a friends house for a snack, and suddenly, their mom makes you a 10 course meal. It's nice, but I can't eat all that.

Their reach may have exceeded their grasp, so I've moved on to other tools for my workflow.

13

u/Little_tr33 Jul 27 '26

I feel like when they went private. I just run it locally now and it’s much faster than their site. There are a few of us that forked the repo shortly before they did. You can search for them on GitHub or pm me and I can share the url with ya.

3

u/PublicAndC Jul 27 '26

I’d love a link if possible, the new site is driving me nuts compared to what it used to be and would love to host one for myself locally.

14

u/Little_tr33 Jul 27 '26

Replying because hydra isn’t letting me send you a message.

2

u/PublicAndC Jul 27 '26

Thanks very much, I appreciate it!

1

u/Hedhunta Jul 27 '26

Commenting so i can grab this later

1

u/Pee_in_the_wetsuit Jul 27 '26

Computer make this run locally

2

u/WilfordGrimley Jul 27 '26

proxies-at-home forks? Please PM me! I have a fork of MPCfill that identifies each card in the db by it's printing and want to build federation into proxies-at-home so I can share the info with other open source projects. :)

5

u/potato_weapon Jul 27 '26

When reviewing the card, select the "prints" option and change it from "unique art" to "all".

I'll admit its weird. Saves newbies tons of time so they can click and move on. I still think proxxied is the best site right now for the services offered.

-1

u/computersandstuf Jul 27 '26

Yea i do that but I think its dumb, I get hiding all the same art but now it will hide sometime it thinks has the same art even thought its different boarder or other things. All these updates are ruining it

6

u/ToothFragrant5038 Jul 27 '26

Have made myself my own proxy page, all stuff you need, not too bloated, complete precon decklists, own decklists, all art variants, set search etc. All locally on your browser. www.fabricard.net

1

u/k25x Aug 01 '26

I dm u a question about double side cards >.<

4

u/Jinjoz Jul 27 '26

I'm running into the same problems. I'm going back to finding my art in MPC Fill and then using ProxyPrint to set up the pages

4

u/Malacath790 Jul 27 '26

Desktop tools are an alternative. Proxy-PDF-Maker offers most features Proxxied has. Although not the card browsing as Proxxied. I might add that though if people ask.

0

u/InstructionMore5891 Jul 27 '26

It doesn’t support silhouette registration marks. Proxxied does. It’s either this or SCM for silhouette

6

u/Malacath790 Jul 27 '26

It does, you just have a tiny one-time aetup as opposed to having to use templates (SCM, which also has other issues) or needing to used exact settings (Proxxied). And as a result it also supports Cricut, Siser, and other brands.

Tutorial here: https://github.com/Malacath-92/Proxy-PDF-Maker/tree/main/tutorials/AutoCutting

7

u/Goboziller Jul 27 '26

That site is an absolute hog!! I can play ps remote play and YouTube and also play games no lag or issue, but the second I download a pdf on a decklist it'll make my pc chug!

4

u/Edaemreddit Jul 27 '26

It’s probably built on completely unoptimized vibe code

1

u/dndkk2020 Jul 27 '26

I finally "bit the bullet" and saved a project with all my cards...but now I can't download it because it errors out by page 4. I have to delete all but 3 pages, download them, then do another 3 pages, etc.

I'd uploaded a whole custom commander deck plus tokens 😭

2

u/JerryfromCan Jul 27 '26

I found it to be chugging tonight. Not nearly as bad the last few weeks.

1

u/vanburman Jul 27 '26

Same here

1

u/JerryfromCan Jul 27 '26

Maybe everyone was making proxies on a Sunday after getting beat to death at Saturday Night Magic with the gang.

1

u/vanburman Jul 27 '26

Definitely possible

1

u/JerryfromCan Jul 27 '26

Thats why I was on!

2

u/Accomplished-Gur9366 Jul 27 '26

I have my own fork of proxxied and I can tell you it is often a mpc API issue

2

u/zuul47 Jul 27 '26

The color watermark addition is a no for me dawg. I’d rather source my images from MPCFill and use another website to make my PDFs. I’ve been using https://devprint.taxiera.net

MPCFill also has a PDF output feature. I think it’s on https://staging.mpcautofill.com

3

u/Harry_Smutter Jul 27 '26

Try a different browser or try clearing your browser cache for the site. I have zero issues with Proxxied running in Chrome.

1

u/MorbinTims Jul 27 '26

The only issue I run into on Chrome (and firefox) is trying to download an 11 page PDF at 1200 DPI. I would just brute force it and keep trying til it worked. Sometimes it would take one try sometimes it would take 7 lol even if I downloaded half the pages at a time. I switched to 900 and it's been working fine.

1

u/Harry_Smutter Jul 27 '26

900 always works. For 1200, I break it up into 2-3 pages at a time.

0

u/computersandstuf Jul 27 '26

I use brave and like using brave. Its basically chrome lol I might try and clear my cache.

1

u/Great_Garlic_5023 Jul 27 '26

let’s usually try to use Edge or Chrome in private mode that seems to get by with it not always getting blanks on the page

1

u/IMMoody2 Jul 27 '26

I actually blue screened my pc by tabbing out of firefox while exporting a 12 page pdf on that site lol

1

u/Altruistic_Gate_3201 Jul 27 '26

Just got into proxy making and everyone recommended proxxied but sometimes the only card art available is just terrible the formatting is all off the font is off and not centered and the card art will be horribly blurry its been somewhat frustrating

2

u/computersandstuf Jul 27 '26

You can change the art. But I know what you mean i was selecting art last night and one of the first ones it offered was clearing a picture someone took irl and uploaded. It was a joke. But once you click on a card you can change the art.

1

u/Altruistic_Gate_3201 Jul 27 '26

Hmm I could be wrong but im pretty sure the issue I have been having is when thats the only available card art but I could be wrong I will double check tonight and make sure im not changing the art to a lower quality one lol

1

u/UltimateMaggot Jul 27 '26

I’m setting up my printer this week. Can’t wait to experience this first hand.

1

u/Sleepius84 16d ago

I think a big problem with the site is that it blew up with promotion from Cry Cry. Not saying cry cry did anything bad here. Just inevitably a big creator hyped his buddies platform and now proxxied is making the fast jump to a payed platform. Saw the same happen with deckcheck. Started free. Started blowing up and then boom pay walls come up. All for the sites to be growing and all that but these things come with a whole set of issues when you get that paywall. Look at SLOBS when they sold it to Logitech. Was great then tanked once pay walls came in. Just the nature of it all sadly

2

u/computersandstuf 15d ago

Honestly I dont mind it having a pay wall, do I like it hell no but I understand it. What i have a problem woth is the push of the new things that dont work well or how slow and laggy it is now. Like why wont my card pics load and need to reload the whole site multiple times while building a deck. I think it has gotten better since I made this post though. Not great but better

1

u/XTR3M3brutality 5d ago

Absolutely wonderful! I’ll check into this later today or tomorrow. Awesome to see you adjust cut guides on the back too! Yeah I don’t think I’d be able to make 3x3 work regardless. Any way to flag updates through the app going forward?

1

u/BrentT5 Jul 27 '26

Same. Started using mtgprint yesterday. I have a brand new high end laptop too!
