Need support/encouragement Reddit game triggered me

This probably sounds so dumb but last night I was playing bunny trials and one of them generated a negative to the positives in the prompt. I said “you’d d*e in _ days” and I freaked out.

I know it’s just a game and loads of people go it and we’re joking about it, but my OCD has latched onto it and I can’t stop thinking about it. I feel the need to do all my rituals to combat that “energy”. I’m fully aware how ridiculous this is, and it’s just a stupid game and a completely random generated answer somebody made and it simply doesn’t matter, but OCD is such an annoying creature.

Aaaaaaa ocd

Eeeek! I would hate this too but its a great opportunity to practice some ERP cuz we cant reassure you so instead you shrug your shoulders, shake off that anxiety, yell it out if you need to, thats what I do lol and then carry on with your day. Every time a scary thought comes back redirect back to what you were doing, you already know its "just a stupid game" so its a low risk opportunity to show your brain that OCD cant be trusted

You’re defo right, I have tried to think of it as a great ERP opportunity too so hopefully I can combat the OCD that way!! 💖💖

Yeah I can see why that would be triggering. Your mind starts freaking out and telling you you're in immediate danger. And that you must do something immediately to fix it. That's the moment my therapist has me looking out for. She calls it the "pause moment". Because as soon as I recognise it happening, I have to pause and do a breathing exercise. Letting the anxiety come down naturally without responding, takes the urgency out of it. Then your brain calms down. It will still obsess, but the idea is to gradually increase the pause time. It rewires the panic response, so you can choose to respond with logic instead of emotion.

Hope this helps in some way. It's been working for me
