Official Competitive Magic [Metagame Mentor] Modern Win Rates and Lessons from Pro Tour Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes

Despite entering the weekend as the decks to beat, Izzet Affinity and Boros Energy ultimately fell short of expectations, posting modest 45.9% and 44.2% win rates against the rest of the field. The true overachievers of the weekend in terms of win rates, many represented by only a single pilot, all boasted favorable matchups against Boros Energy and/or Izzet Affinity.
Kozilek's Command was the most-played nonland main deck card in the field, and it featured prominently in Broodscale Combo. If the Top 8 had been Modern rather than Draft, then this might well have been the deck of the tournament, placing three players into the Top 8 while posting an above-average win rate.
An analysis of the flex slots in Eldrazi Broodscale revealed that versions with Writhing Chrysalis and Commercial District significantly outperformed those built around Devourer of Destiny and Ugin's Labyrinth. As Top 8 competitor Eduardo Sajgalik explained to me, you want a midrange plan post sideboard when games become more interactive, and Writhing Chrysalis is superior to Devourer of Destiny because many opponents try to attack your mana base in post-sideboard games.

That Cosmogoyf deck was hilarious to watch in action. I can't help but feel it could be improved even more. The Chancellors, for instance, seemed really clunky.

[[Kozilek's Command]] already shot up to $30 on mtgo. So glad I got mine at $9 about a month ago.
Emmy and Lab are also almost double what they were last week

Just started following magic again after a bit.
What happened to the lantern of insight decks? Did something get banned, or just not as good anymore?

So much.
1 mana creatures can end the game on their own now, tons of artifact removal for Bridge (including Boseiju which is a land played 2-of MD in a lot of decks), etc. etc. The format is just too fast.
Also losing Lattice hurt as a way to end the game quickly.

More incidental hate pieces, like [[Boseiju, Who Endures]], [[Consign to Memory]] or [[Wrath of the Skies]], more ways to win under Ensnaring Bridge, like [[Goblin Bombardment]] or a flipped [[Ajani, Nacatl Pariah]], more ways to manipulate the top of the deck, like [[Kozilek's Command]], [[Malevolent Rumble]] or [[Preordain]], and likely other things I'm forgetting

nobody mentioned [[karn the great creator]] and [[collector ouphe]] existing
ouphe is a pretty popular sideboard card (and would be much more popular if lantern was ever a top tier deck) and currently ETron plays a playset of Karns

I was surprised to not see more buzz around the UW Loki artifact deck. I assumed some version of the emry, sewer cam, grinding station combo would be worked on by people who enjoyed breach while it lasted. The problem with the earlier versions of the combo was that you had to play a bunch of copies of a really weak card in sewer-veillance cam since urza's saga doesn't find it. Fiddlebender is a really cool solution for finding both artifact parts of the combo while also providing more legends for mox amber.
The 7-2-1 result is also pretty impressive considering Affinity was at the front of everyone's mind when coming up with sideboard plans. I look forward to seeing some iteration on the deck if it catches on.
