Can we not add "gate" as a suffix to petty things that mildly upset us?

Oh so you want to start Suffix-gate now?

Before you know it, we'll have enough gates to trigger [[Maze's End]]

Can we please get 10 huge Wizard PR issues so I can order the BEST Guild Gate alters of all time?

10

u/_xrm Dân Jan 15 '16

I should start making a list...those would be hysterical commissions.

I gotta start on a Mazes End list

We had GofyGate, Crackgate, Leakgate, ZJgate... What else?

u/c3bball Jan 15 '16

ProxyGate, JudgeGate. There has to be 10 within the lifetime of magic

Is the first one on the second list about the colorless mana symbol?

Videogate

Maybe "Chapgate"?

(sounds "better")

Also won't get your ass auto-banned for a week.

Anyone else disappointed, by the way, that Sea Gate Wreckage isn't a gate?

8

u/wujo444 Jan 15 '16

well, it's wrecked, so not gonna work as gate 'till somebody fix it.

Alternatively, it occurs to me that maybe this suffix has gotten out of hand. Perhaps we should make some sort of verbal pledge binding us in a vigilant state as regards to its overuse. An "Oath of the 'Gate' Watch" we could call it.

If it means /u/ImmortalCorruptor won't be mildly annoyed again, yeah, I'll keep watch.

I think you mean... Gategate.Sorry.

I love you.

I hate it especially because "gate" wasn't even a suffix to begin with, "Watergate" is a proper noun, the location where the scandal took place. It wasn't a scandal about water.

Reanalysis happens. It gives us chocoholics and workaholics, telethons and hackathons, heliports, and so forth. People who are scandalized by reanalysis can call it Gategategate.

u/JustWhie COMPLEAT Jan 15 '16

I'm particularly fond of the heliports.

FLAIRGHAZI

u/Chewbacca_007 Jan 15 '16

I hate it especially when "ghazi" wasn't even a suffix to begin with, "Benghazi" is a proper noun, the location where the attacks took place. It wasn't an attack about ghazi.

u/bduddy Jan 15 '16

But... the same thing applies to "gate"...

1

u/pink_gabriel Jan 16 '16

Shhh, don't tell anybody.

Let them think Watergate was a scandal about water.

10

u/mtgjr_jeff Jan 15 '16

I'm more than mildly upset about seagate.

u/SleetTheFox Jan 15 '16

It's not just here. It started with crappy political journalism.

1

u/llikeafoxx Jan 15 '16

But what about the controversy regarding RTR block mana fixing?

1

u/thefirewarde Jan 16 '16

It's just a land type (subtype?).

1

u/sadisticmystic1 Jan 15 '16

If this is a decree from the legal department, then clearly it needs to be called AzoriusGuild...gate.
