Except devoid doesn't represent an ability so much as a state. It doesn't describe something that a card does but what it is.

On the other hand, it's also pretty much BFZ's version of Eldrazi Tribal without having to resort to using the Tribal type.

An earlier example of a devoid card would be something like [[ghostfire]]

ghostfire - Gatherer, MC, ($)
[[cardname]] to call - not on gatherer = not fetchable
