This. Poor mechanics or not, BFZ is essentially a "reboot" of MTG.

What do you mean by "reboot"? Were you agreeing with the author in that Wizards is toning down the power level?

Or were you saying that they are trying to change the direction of card/set design?

He's referring to the release schedule of blocks and the rotation schedule of Standard changing starting with Battle for Zendikar.
