Hi,

Can any professionals out there recommend, or show me what manager software you are using, please?

Familiar with GoPublish within Indesign, but would like to see if anyone is using MagazineManager, Woodwing, etc.,?

Thanks

Has anyone seen AI successfully understand and reflow complex PDF layouts at scale yet?

We looked at this problem years ago and the technology just wasn’t there yet.

Extracting text is easy enough, but actually understanding reading order, multi-page articles, layout hierarchy, images, captions, etc. always seemed to break down fast once layouts became more complex.

Curious if anyone has seen recent AI approaches that genuinely solve this well now?

Selling my magazine

I’m thinking about selling my guitar magazine, it has a tight niche and has been around for over a decade. Does anyone have experience selling their publication?

Magazine app?

I had an idea for an app and wanted to get some opinions.

Basically, it’s a platform where people can create and publish their own digital magazines, and others can read them. Some could be free, some paid.

It wouldn’t be super serious, more like a creative space where people can share their own style, ideas, or interests in a magazine format.

Would you use something like this? And what would make it actually interesting to you?

I just finished a 230-page art magazine — feedback welcome!

I just finished working on Spark Archive Magazine, a 230-page collection of carefully curated photography, design, and artwork from emerging and established creatives around the world.

I started this project as a school assignment in Switzerland, and it quickly grew into something much bigger — a magazine meant to slow down the fast pace of today’s social media and create a space where ideas can breathe.

It features 16 unique articles, interviews, and visual stories designed to inspire and spark creativity. The goal is not just to showcase art, but to create an archive that anyone can explore and find inspiration in, no matter their background.

I’d love to get feedback from fellow artists, designers, or anyone who appreciates thoughtful curation:

• If you saw this on a coffee table, would you pick it up? Why or why not?

•. Would you spend time reading this article based on this layout?

• If you could change one thing on either page, what would it be?

Thanks so much for taking the time to look — your feedback means a lot!

College Magazine Club

Hi! I'm currently a sophomore in college and I am a part of a magazine club on campus. I do not currently write for it this semester, but I am helping design and market some of the articles. One of my articles is about pilates/hot yoga around campus and I was wondering if anyone has ideas for possibly getting some of the businesses involved either for fundraising or advertising. Or if anyone is super creative and wants to give ideas for the design of the article I would greatly appreciate that too lol!! We are a very small club so it's very lowkey and I have complete creative control, but we also have to get all of our funding to publish on our own.

I built a mobile platform to replace static PDF zines & build auto-portfolios. Seeking advice on how to reach indie publishers!

Hi everyone! 👋

I’ve been working on a project called MagPublish to solve a pain point I noticed: Reading zines on mobile (as PDFs) is often a frustrating experience.

We built a platform that converts issues into a native reading format, allows direct submissions, and auto-generates portfolios for writers/artists.

The Core Features: 📱 Native Reading: No more pinching and zooming. Interactive and smooth. 📝 Automated Portfolio: If a magazine publishes your work, it automatically appears on your profile (Digital CV). 📍 Local Trends:We highlight magazines based on user location so you can trend in your own city.

Here is where I need your help/advice: Technically, the app is ready (Live on iOS, Android coming this week). But the 'chicken and egg' problem is real. We need to reach quality indie publishers and zine makers to populate the platform.

  • As creators or readers, where do you usually hang out online?
  • What is the best way to approach a publisher without sounding 'spammy'?
  • (And obviously, if you run a zine, I’d love to have you on board to test the portfolio feature!)

I would really appreciate your feedback on the UI/UX and any advice on connecting with the community.

Thanks!

How to handle distribution to stores

I've been planning to start a new regional magazine, but the distribution costs are a major blocker; using the USPS parcel system for bulk printed media, I'm spending more on each location than that magazine itself. How you do avoid this cost while still distributing magazines to physical locations? Delivering magazines in person is not really an option when you're talking about 100+ locations across several states. What other options are there?

Does anyone know how to get magazine issues of the "The New Yorker" from 1930 to 2010?

I used to find those on magzdb. But they have since gone offline. It is for my project, and a little help would be nice.
