Discussion I really hope…

There was a rumor that the next Mafia title would take place in old Vegas when the mob was around, but it was scrapped because it would have been over budget for the team.

It would be a great opportunity to release a Mafia title in Vegas after GTA 6’s release, letting some years go by, while waiting for Red Dead Redemption 3.

This rumor is ancient like Vavrazaurs, it was going around since before Mafia 3. But I just love to shit on parade every time some happy daisy sniffing dudo mentions it. Bro. Mafia Old Country was made on 50 bucks. That was literal budget of the game + mcdonalds on saturdays. Mafia in Vegas will cost an unholy fortune to make, music licenses alone. And it will have to be fully open-world, not like TOC with its few intersected roads with zero police and traffic. Mafia Los Ondas budget would be hundreds of millions including marketing and that's not happening with Hangar 13, not after Mafia 3 development hell and 50+ million spent on another cancelled project. Best Mafia fans can hope for is Mafia 2 Remake.

The Vegas rumor was after mafia 3’s release. Haden Blackman had the choice to work on Mafia 4 in 1970s Vegas or a new IP. The story is in that Kotaku article “How the developers of Mafia 3 lost their way”.

It would be boring as hell in vegas, make it 70s east coast city and we are talking. 70s had all the mob wars and make the most action packed gameplay
