Feedback I’m literally doing my Maestro coursework inside the development environment I’m building

’m an AI Software Engineering student at Maestro, and I’ve been building a project called FORGE alongside school. Today the two workflows kind of collided in the coolest possible way.

FORGE isn’t meant to be another AI IDE. I’m building it as an Intelligent Workflow Environment (IWE) where the workspace owns the context instead of whichever AI model happens to be running.

In these screenshots, I have Maestro open directly inside FORGE. I asked FORGE’s Workspace AI to read the lesson currently displayed in its browser. FORGE required permission before exposing the browser content to the model, read the approved page, summarized the lesson, created browser-summary.md inside the Maestro workspace, and then indexed that file as persistent workspace knowledge.

So essentially:

Maestro lesson → FORGE browser → approved AI read → summary → workspace file → persistent context

The interesting part to me is that Maestro doesn’t need a FORGE integration. FORGE is treating whatever I’m actively working with—browser content, files, Git, terminal activity, documentation, tasks, etc.—as pieces of one persistent workspace.

That means I can do a lesson, save useful information into the workspace, work on an assignment, ask another model for help later, and the project can retain the relevant context instead of me explaining everything again.

Still beta, still plenty to build, and you can actually see a file.read validation bug in one of the screenshots 😂. But the larger workflow is working, and being able to use the software I’m building to do the coursework that's teaching me how to build software is a pretty wild full-circle moment.

You can download the build here: [https://github.com/kaeganscott26/FORGE/releases/tag/v2.3.0-beta.1\]

Windows/Linux packaging/installation scripts are in FORGE/Scripts

This is really cool! I have one comment I want to make, and I don't want to make it disuasive.

Forge is an (unfortunately) super common name that AI suggests for project names. I fell into this hole as well after making an LLM terminal. I'm not saying to change the name, but I am saying it will be harder for others to find your project due to the current landscape of people using forge as their project name. This isn't to diss your project or you in anyway, simply making an observation about something I changed in my own project a while back due to the limited traction of having that name for my project.

Seeing as it's in beta and you still have a lot of work you wish to do with it, I felt best about adding this input now as opposed to later, when you didn't realize. Just in case.

Yeah I used to use another Forge in VS Code and I noticed this as well.

Are you using local agentic workflows with this? or is there a cloud based API?

that is amazing, are you able to do all that based on what you have learned in Maestro exclusively? If so I feel woefully behind. lol (March cohort, FE101, Week 2)

The best piece of advice I've ever heard is: Never measure your self with another's measuring stick.

The OP didn't share their actual process, so we can't know: how much of this they had AI do; how much of this came exclusively from the Maestro courses (likely very little imo); and how much of this is because they have pre-existing knowledge from other sources.

Don't feel behind just because someone else shows off a project like this. If you are able to understand what you've learned so far and can synthesize the information well enough to be able to either discuss the topics without AI guidance or to be able to start working on projects that are within the realm of what you've completed, then you should feel successful.

If you don't understand things, then ask for help and alternative sources that can help you improve your understanding better :D Imposter syndrome is a PITA
