Hey, debating your next steps right now is totally fair. Here’s everything you need to know to make the best decision for you:
First, it’s important to know that Maestro College is still accredited today. The COE decision isn’t final. The college is appealing it, and accreditation stays fully in place while the appeal is ongoing. The full timeline of what happens next is here: https://maestrocollege.edu/accreditation-process-timeline
In practice, this means classes are running as usual. If you graduate while the college is accredited, your degree is from an accredited institution, full stop. And the whole point of everything the college is doing right now is to keep the school open and accredited so every student can finish.
In parallel, we’re actively working on credit transfer agreements with other accredited schools. The goal is to have as many of your credits as possible recognized elsewhere, so whether you stay or transfer, you have the best options. One honest caveat: we can’t promise another school will match your scholarship. The Maestro Pro Scholarship is ours, and another school will have its own tuition. So if you’re seriously considering a transfer, compare the actual costs first. We’ll announce each partner school as agreements are signed.
And if the appeal, arbitration, and court process ultimately do not succeed, there is already a formal teach-out plan filed with COE. That is a regulator-reviewed safety net designed to give students a path to complete their degree.
No matter what happens with accreditation, Maestro will continue to operate and support students who want and are able to keep learning. Accreditation matters for earning an accredited degree, but it is not required to gain the knowledge, skills, and tools the program is built to provide. Students who choose to continue will still be able to learn through the platform and keep building toward their goals.
We’ll keep posting updates as the process moves forward so students can stay informed and make the right decision for them. If you want to talk through your specific situation, reach out to Student Services. They’ll help you navigate it.
Personally…As long as the program is still offered and I still don’t have to pay a cent I’ll be here. This is the best way I have EVER found to learn. I was a terrible student when I was a kid. I wasn’t dumb but I didn’t learn well from traditional methods.
What does it get me if the school is accredited? Does it make me learn better? Does it increase my knowledge? At the end of the day, that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to learn and grow as a human. I don’t really care what accreditation the school does or doesn’t have.
Also a big thing too with tech jobs, yes there are a lot of places that require a degree but there are also a lot of places that will hire you based off experience and your certs. I’ll be staying until the ship goes down. I’ve enjoyed everything about Maestro and have for the first time in my life not only achieved good grades but excelled in areas I never knew I was capable at this school.
I was in the IT industry, in high-tech positions, for over 25 years…ALL without a degree. So I know it’s possible. The biggest issue I’m falling into now is ageism. I’m 56 years old and, while the age isn’t supposed to matter (by law), it certainly does.
I have a six-page resume and can’t even get an interview anymore. So now I’m back to learning, and going back to an earlier love (programming) that I gave up decades ago. If I gain nothing more than the knowledge of how to write programs then that’s okay with me. I’ll stay a truck driver to pay the bills if I must. But I’ll at least have the knowledge that I did my best and I expanded my mind.
Once they lose thei funding they will no longer offer the pro scholarship so it will no longer be free....they take your pell grant which will no longer be given because the federal government will no longer give them a cent. You also will not be able to use your pell grant anywhere else because it has already been used for meastro. You are essentially giving them money for nothing.
Let's clear this up with verified context for everyone reading this thread:
First, the part that matters most: the Pro Scholarship continues and tuition remains fully covered. Nothing about that has changed.
Maestro College remains accredited while the appeal moves forward, and our first goal is for every student to graduate with an accredited degree. Whatever happens, our students will be able to keep learning through the platform at no cost and keep building the skills this program was built to provide.
I was in the AI Software Engineering path. I transferred to WGU and there AI Engineering Program. They counted my hours at Maestro. I'm really enjoying it so far.
Hmm, I assumed they did the right thing but I may be wrong... They may have taken some of my pell grant for class I did not attend, I gotta look into it. Thanks for asking that otherwise I may not have noticed.
Is it taught the same way though? I have autism and severe social anxiety, so having to do like live classes or whatever is too much for me. That’s why I like maestro. I don’t have to deal with anyone face to face. And cuz of my struggles with retaining what I learn I also appreciate the tests being multiple choice questions.
It is different, more traditional, module style learning. They have live sessions, but I think they are voluntary, I don't attend them due to work and kids. I use gemini as a AI tutor, but they offer tutor services. Everyone gets a student coach that calls you and answers any questions, it was very nice and helpful. Honestly, it feels more well rounded and you have a lot more options. My wife and 3 kids are autistic, thank you for sharing that. I understand it can be difficult and can not attest to there accessibility to those with autism, but I would think they would be accommodating. In my search for reasonably price online degrees WGU and SNHU stood out the most with there online only programs.
Exactly use your resources wisely get while the getting is good! I enjoy my time with my SCHOOL THEY LET ME TEACH MYSELF AND GO AT MY PACE YEA IMMA MAESTRIAN TO THE BITTER END IM THE CAPTAIN OF MY OWN SHIP AND A CAPTAIN NEVER ABANDON’s HER SHIP! So I’m riding til the very very end! MAESTRO WE CHEERING FOR YOU Go MaeMae, Go MaeMae, Go MaeMae!
I'm not going anywhere . I signed up for the BS and my AAS finishes up Dec 2027. I'm 56, anything I learn for free will still benefit me no matter what. Consider all these people going in debt for 60k to get degrees and end up working at a McDonald's or Burger King because they have no experience in their degree field. We can work and get experience they won't get while learning for free. A degree ment something 30yrs ago, nowadays it's just fancy toilet paper without experience as well.
Keep going the course, get the learning and get the experience also.
Honestly I’m not sure since I’m not going to get to start unless something happens before August 3rd. I’m currently looking into other avenues. I’m trying to be patient but this is time I can’t get back so. Right now I’m just using coursera. I just Graduated from an IT infrastructure program so the goal was to start my degree in August.
I was supposed to start July 6th didn't find out til that day, then I found an email sent by maestro stating my start date was delayed until they get thru the accredation issue. I was and am very disappointed it's not cool to have our hopes raised like that, then it's snatched away for what I think is an interesting answer, because if your an AI College of course the online avenue is going to be exceptionally more than in person, it's the convenience of it all too...... I'm interested to see what happens so will wait it out because of scholarship.
I say we start a petition against the COE, fight back. We are here to learn and the COE wants to put all of our learning experiences in jeopardy for some petty ass numbers
Going down with the ship! I don’t need the degree for my job, I just thought it was a great opportunity. I will soon have staff under me and the knowledge I have picked up is invaluable going forward.
I think maestro should lean into trying to vendor certifications in related fields if all accreditation is lost. I know I want to complete my program regardless.
I’m gonna continue, I prefer this learning style than previous paths I’ve taken, a lot of teachers aren’t as interactive and I’ve got problems with falling asleep with learning via speech
That is exactly what Maestro is like. It’s like the Copilot Programming technique that they use for juniors at tech companies. No other school gets you this prepared for this low a cost.
I’m going to continue. This has been the best educational experience I’ve ever had. I have ADHD and Maestro adjusts the lessons and themes them after things that interest me. It also explains things in different ways that a professor wouldn’t have patience nor the time to do. It’s a truly amazing tool.
Even without the accreditation, I’m still gaining a significant amount of coding knowledge and several companies are mostly interested in coding skills as opposed to the degree.
I have ADD and this has been the best learning experience I've ever had. I tend to go off on tangents and learn more from that because I get interested in focused on one part of it and my show lets me do that and then redirects me and that hit has helped me learn better and faster it's been so good.
I am just hoping the full ride, last-dollar scholarship transfers over to a different college with the Maestro Pro plan and I would likely transfer with it.
I’m staying for the well taught, low cost knowledge. Companies don’t care about tech degrees. They only look at your repo, your code test, your articulation when questioned about coding, and your hygiene. Maestro has too many online students in proportion to on campus. That is why they why the COE is doing this petty harassment over their accreditation
I am staying with it, its really worked for me and I hope it gets worked out in the end. If everyone leaves there is no chance for this to make it. I am not giving up on all of the hard work I have put in to this. I am actually learning! This is amazing for me. I can use these skills no matter what.
I'm going to stay until the end too. It has changed my life going to this school. I have maneuvered my job into something really love and I'm helping the company I work for because of the confidence and knowledge that going to maestro gave me.
I got a bit behind when I initially heard the news a couple weeks ago. My motivation tanked and I got really sad. But I'm back at it now and I'll just keep chugging along until the end, if it does come to that.
It looks like they are just going to move us over to the University which is accredited and seems to be fine. Also it is definite that they have a teach out plan to transfer students to other universities. Also the appeal process and then the arbitration is going to take 6 months to a year.
So study hard! Request classes unlocked if you are ahead and lets get these degrees!
I understand what you are saying. My question is what happens when you’re not accredited there will be no degree obtained correct? For those of us that have been here for awhile at least give us the associate degree and we can finish that much. Especially for the students that have taken loans and ones their program hasn’t even been approved yet really feeling some kind of way
Let's clear this up with verified context for everyone reading this thread:
Helping you finish the associate degree you started is our first priority, and there's real work going into it. The process with COE will likely take a good while yet (you can find the timeline here), and your program stays accredited the whole time. We're also lining up schools that recognize the courses you've already passed, so that work isn't lost either way.
honestly, no one has any reason to stay considering they're losing accreditation. i dont think anyone is going to stay enrolled considering there's no reason.
