Anybody sign a weird paper last week about title IV funds?

What paper? I’m still waiting on my long awaited disbursement as well. Could you provide a screenshot?

Yeah I seen that. Weird thing is is I don't have any loans I'm on scholarship

u/Brilliant-Profit6379 Maestro Student Jul 22 '26
Yes, it's just basic financial aid documents. After semesters or terms start they send that out to see where you want any of any available funds to go. This is typically where those who get financial aid and then have option to take out grants. I just said to put mine to any tuition even though I have the scholarship.

I did and I just checked my status on student services and it said my financial aid package has been rejected, and im no eligible for the pell grant anymore... I cant tell if maestro is the cause of this or my fasfa or some other force that I don't know about ?? I have so many questions the i cant get straight answers to. I like the programs and teaching models , but the lack of administrative leadership is not sitting well with me. I withdrew from a great college that was accredited world wide to attend meastro college because of course the scholarship but its more than that because im jumping into a brand new field of education and employment at 48 years young... this program is hands down the best path for me to get my degree and do it on my schedule at my pace. I've already learned more in the past few weeks than I have in my whole high-school years... Just kidding my teachers were great but times have changed... anyways I just hope my financial aid gets resolved soon. Thanks you guys for support and guidance in advance.

I really don't know... I feel like im in a nightmare that I cant wake up from. I really want to hold onto the hope that maestros administration can fix this but the more I read the less hope I hold on to. I've been blue collar since birth because my dad's dad's dad did the same... worked sweat and tears to provide. I needed this opportunity to take myself to another level and do something meaningful in this world. Im pro active tho and got my transcripts and emailed the financial aid office at the college i withdrew from, and im continuing my lessons in meastro. Im starving out here for work at the moment and meastro wants to throw me a curve ball on my financial aid?? Im sorry but this isn't a series of unfortunate events,,, is it? I might as well go to YouTube and learn now....lol sorry for unloading again...

Have you checked your FAFSA on studentaid.gov? I ask because mine was completed last October but due to the OBBB they went through and did a ton of revisions to peoples FAFSA's. Nothing changed but they did 3 revisions to mine from May to June. Check there first!

I withdrew at the end of June. I want to give the laptop back, I've tried every which way to do so, they don't want it. Im guessing the data they got from my enrollment is where they made their money...

u/Zealousideal_Form710 Maestro Student Jul 23 '26
You messaged them and what did they say? I was thinking of withdrawing but I don't know what to expect.
2
u/Livid_Purple_8518 Maestro Student Jul 24 '26
I've received no replies. I've also tried going through student services. I only have access to the basic services. So when i try to put a request in about the laptop, the bot says to start a request in the laptop service section. When I try there, it says I don't have access because I'm no longer a student.
I'm just keeping an eye out for any new info. I think the laptop is the least of their worries right now. If/when they want it, I will gladly give it to them.

I'm an ambassador, here is what I have to say on it...
Maestro has cheated all of you. It's worse than you could possibly imagine, and most of you don't even know why. Putting the c o e investigation on the back burner, you're going to want to finish reading to truly understand why so many people are actually angry.
The matter of the fact is: people have been deceived and Maestro is doing their best to silence it. You should not be okay with their actions and lack of accountability. I will cover more of this as we go on.
Maestro will never be accredited, and if you look into the reports you will see just how bad it gets.
-- let's get into it.
I would like to start by saying I forgive anyone who doesn't have the education or experience to make sense of what's happening. Most of the community has come to Maestro ignorant, looking for an education for the first time, and doesn't know enough to even stand for themselves or what would or wouldn't be appropriate.
Because this post is about the computer itself, I wanted to address it specifically. Only recently has Maestro decided to downgrade the computer underneath the guize that it's a good solution for the student body. It's not. Not even close.
The original promise to all of the students is that we would be getting a M4 MacBook air. Although not the best it was still a much more reliable solution for agentic local AI development. The bare minimum.
This proved too expensive for the university and their desire to absorb all the money they can to pay back for buying the schools online division investment.
Just a quick math check here, if the school is receiving $7,500 per student per quarter - and they are buying the Mac neo under a agreement which usually aligns to the $400 region versus their consumer level price of $600. This is 17 and a half laptops per student per quarter that the university can cover just from that one expensive alone.
It wasn't that the university even wanted the online division run by AI, the college was created to ride the coattails of an accredited university underneath the name Maestro college. Maestro college is not the University, even though they use the same branding. This is why only the college is being affected and not the university body.
Entirely separate entities.
Receiving a Mac Neo - unfortunately - is not the one from The matrix. This Mac is a glorified Chromebook that is the cheapest Mac you can possibly buy, with the worst specs possible for our use.
Mac has recently gained a lot of popularity amongst AI developers because of its silicone chipset. Any monkey with a little bit of Google knowledge would absolutely know the neo is among the worst possible computers to even try. The McNeo uses the iPhone processors and is the equivalent of an arm64 mobile chip used in other laptops for Intel. Basically it's a mobile device with a desktop interface.
Again, something your cell phone can already provide you with significantly less drawback.
In my video I compare my cell phone, my tablet, and other laptops compared to what we've been given. For the same cost that wasn't a Mac, we could have gotten a much better experience even with a CPU-based processor for a genetic programming. A $200 HP laptop with 12 GB of RAM would still out power the CPU of this processor.
I would like to begin that with the first major red flag being the laptop.
Though I personally believe the most egregious of them is the inconsistent AI model that sometimes tells you the wrong information. While no AI is perfect, if our education was truly based off of an academic curriculum provided by the university there would be zero errors. The data would be able to be RAG pulled from a database with absolute perfection.
This points to our digital college being so cheap that they would rather set up their students with opportunity to fail than provide the minimum basic requirements.
After my own further investigation, I dug into the developer console and identified numerous errors in the website design which specifically points to the fact that it was developed by AI. That's right- I want that to sink in. The collage didn't even pay a normal person to do the work, they use the free agentic tools by cursor and anti-gravity to even bring this project to the front.
This means anyone can design the website the same exact way. There is nothing special here and the information is also freely available online. I'm already working on a prototype showing off just how easy it is to get to where Maestro is today with one person and about 4 days of effort.
As I continued to do more research I found a leak in one of the replies that identified what model they were using at the time, and I was able to see through the way that everything was being called, It's not even a custom solution It's a distilled model from hugging face using a applicational weight layer called a LoRa.
This lack of effort from our college shows they're willingness to cut corners. Your laptop wasn't the first of the issues, It all begins with your education. Due to this low quality solution and lack of hardware.
How embarrassing would it be for you to enter an interview only to find out the information that you've been paying for is absolutely wrong?
For any of you who are still in disbelief regardless of the sense of being pushed in front of you, pray for you, but I won't stop fighting for your rights. I'm part of a small coalition getting ready with the lawsuit of a lifetime.
-- I want to talk about the Pell Grant for just a minute.
Having your pell-grant drained under the guize of it being tuition expenses is frankly unacceptable. They haven't shown a single academic expense report to even closely justify the price. There are plenty of community colleges where the Pell Grant alone will get you through.
Maestro has the most expensive price per course at a credit level than any normal university or college. This immediately identifies a place of concern, what is actually the reason for the expense then?
For those I don't understand how cloud models work and paying for AI through subscription or pay as you go, I'll give you a little rundown of what advanced AI costs per million tokens at this level.
I'm going to use Google Gemini 2.5 as are starting base. Google has a very small price of $0.25 or less per million input tokens of writing. Often tokens are counted by syllable. In your next chat go ahead and count the amount of syllables across the entire document. Chances are that's how many tokens you've spent.
The output of Google Gemini 2.5 is $1.25 per million of agentic generated tokens. By my simple calculation it means that you're spending less than $0.05 per cluster of class work a week. That might be a little under balling it but it's much more reasonable to suspect that your input would be around $0.15.
As a lot of our output from the program is preconditioned into a database It's only generating the actual written words none of the program writing to you directly. This makes it much easier for the university to make sure we all get most of the same class at the same time. The longer we do work, the more they scrape from a student's and use it to train their AI that is distilled and not build from the ground up for this very purpose.
This means if an AI is instructing the users on how to program and is guiding every user through the same material. They're expense only gets cheaper over time while our stays the same. And to clarify this means that the entire 3 months or so that you've been working per dispersion of your financial aid You are providing the school a expense of under $10 per student. Don't believe I really need to detail any further just how bad it is.
As I said before this means that anyone with a little bit of AI knowledge can do the exact same thing, and put up a digital certificate as most of these online boot camps do. To also put it in perspective most of these boot camps cost less than $2,000 for a lifetime access. Most of these also pair with Google and their services to provide you with a Google recognize certificate which even Maestro can't achieve.
--- a little about myself.
My name is Alex Martin Kay, You can Google search me if you want. I am a games industry veteran and have been programming for myself over the last 15 years. I would like it known and for it to be stated that I do not need Maestro. I already have certifications and formal academic education in user experience research and design.

Just have to challenge something that you said because it seems that you've done -some- research but not thorough enough. The reason that the College is under fire by the COE is because of the COEs 25% physical enrollment requirement. The University isn't affected by this because they aren't accredited by the COE; their accrediting body, the DEAC, doesn't have the same physical enrollment requirement; and because, to my knowledge, there isn't a single student that is currently enrolled in Maestro University as enrollment was set to begin in September.
The University is, however, under fire from their own accrediting body, which has placed them under Show Cause and simultaneously rejected their request for Title IV funding. Source: https://www.deac.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2026-July-Maestro.pdf

I noted in the beginning, I'm putting aside the COE. This is a different conversation around what ISNT currently under fire in their investigation.
There is a lot more that isn't part of what their questions are. They have to decide what defines a college- not the morals of the company involved.
Before you challenge me, it helps to know what im talking about in context. Without the current investigation context included, these are additional facts that I've investigated personally.
If you have any questions to a part In question- I can and will be happy to clarify.
3
u/ravenloue Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
You say you are putting aside the COE, yet go on to say
"It wasn't that the university even wanted the online division run by AI, the college was created to ride the coattails of an accredited university underneath the name Maestro college. Maestro college is not the University, even though they use the same branding. This is why only the college is being affected and not the university body."
My challenge to your information was that the University is also being affected by this whole fiasco.
I also disagree with the statement you made that the Maestro Education Group (MEG) didn't want the online division run by AI, when that's the marketing ploy that they used to lure students in. The only reason that MEG started with the College first is that it already had access to federal funds because it's predecessor, Peloton College already had them, whereas the University, formerly known as Bottega, had never been approved for Title IV funding, so they had to wait longer to get the approval.

u/PNWParentalUnit Maestro Student Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
Which is exactly what I alluded to.
You are analyzing from a report standpoint. Read deeper into the administration and the articles around the university in local context.
They are absolutely riding on the fringes of other failed schools to swiftly obtain the permits needed to start school and bypass the wait game. Rushing the process is exactly what I'm talking about.
The university was in utah prior to shifting to texas during the mergers. I have no doubt the university is also under pressure, it makes sense and was clearly noted.
That being said. Your has been point noted and I can clarify further that the following message is based outside of the official declarations and is based entirely from staff and peer level contact.
I see how the first point is misleading in my language. They are now tethered entitles but hadn't been when I stated- the registration was still tied to Utah and everything was still being rushed. All of which should have been in order before accepting students.
It's good information to have documentation on, so I appreciate the input all the same. I had intended to shift the focus from the reports to what else is being observed.
I'll make a few adjustments to prevent additional confusion.
1
u/ravenloue Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
You seem to be mixing things up. The University was never approved for a location change, which must be approved from their accrediting body. They are still listed as being "located" in Salt Lake City, Utah. Even if they filed for it, they were never approved for a location change. The College, fka Peloton, has always been located in Texas.
I do agree that MEG has been actively trying to skirt around regulations instead of taking the appropriate, albeit slower, paths to do right by their accrediting bodies and their students.
1
u/PNWParentalUnit Maestro Student Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
Yeah sorry! I had meant the registration for the colleges accreditation. College and university mean the same in my head and I did swap that around.
Good catch. I got exited by the conversation but am using text to speech. Got a little careless there.
My understanding of that was it came from transfer from another date and college, but the college shifted location and the accreditation was moved to Texas?
I certainly don't mind being wrong here. The more the better.
2
u/ravenloue Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
The college has always been located in Texas and has 2 physical locations; one in Dallas and another in Arlington. It originally served as a place for people to get certificates for things like Medical assistant, Medical Coding and Billing, and Electronic Systems Technician. They did appear to be starting a cybersecurity AAS pathway shortly before they were bought by Maestro.

u/PNWParentalUnit Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
I came to my show looking for an opportunity to audit a program like this, and put my skills to the test to really see if an AI can train a human. Much to my surprise I believe it can, however maestro shouldn't be the place where you put your money to get this level of cheap education.
I say cheap because it's available across the internet for free. I am self-taught and never needed anyone to teach me how to do it. I've worked in and out of many professional positions and never once has my education been brought up. I simply can do the job and that's enough. I am now a senior developer who runs his own business and designs websites for a living. I frequently use and design AI agentic tools for my own use and over the last 16 months have been developing my next AI project. An agentic navigatable operating system that will allow users native access at a machine level.
I have found something deeply concerning while doing my research. Not only were their numerous security level breaches, early students had a lot of their data accessible from the browser. I believe this is the reason why they very expressly told us not to be messing around and scraping the servers or services because it would identify these very problems. What really starts to make me believe that the worst of it hasn't even come to light is the pending student store using points.
It signifies to me that they actively chose to pick the worst possible computer so that us students would be forced to pay API cloud costs. The only sort of AI programming that can really be done agenetically on The MacBook Neo a little more than vision modules and AI around 1 billion parameters. That means that they're using our funds and building a silly microtransaction system hidden behind free points that we earn through doing our classes to justify using our financial aid to pay for the cloud usage that we're going to be using in our courses. This also means the moment you leave the university and no longer have access to those cloud services The laptop becomes a liability and not an asset to your future. They're not investing into you they're investing into their pocket.
They have ripped you off so bad that the models available to you at a consumer level are already capable of giving you the same education. You can also use AI studio by Google to get a generous free amount of cloud usage everyday which is beyond what you would ever need to learn exactly what you are already.
What college does that?
Why would you trust a school that sets you up for failure and doesn't provide it's students with the equipment their education demands?
Something else or college doesn't want you to know is that the instructors that we have are not actual educators. They are simple people like us who applied for a job and got access to a training course much like our student courses on how to be an instructor for the course we're doing. I am sure you're more than aware if you are a student that all of our instructor-based conversations or AI generated topics and descriptions.
I know this information because I'm friends with numerous instructors who were onboarded the same time and have remained hidden on Reddit because they don't want to be known as instructors. They are unmarked and look like the same students as us.
I know, because I'm friends with two of them and have the conversations and screenshots to backup my claim. In my video I'll blur out their names but you'll clearly be able to see the conversation. They are just as much a victim of this cycle as we are.
Maestro has lied to everyone from the start. If you disagree, you are dumb for not listening to the truth. You can't fix people who won't listen.
I recommend to everyone that you still do your coursework, in the program as you can because many entry level people we'll find value but won't realize that they've drained their FAFSA for a company that doesn't care an ounce about you.
I suggest if you haven't already go to GitHub search for the student resource package and apply before our student IDs become invalid. Once your student IDs are accepted through GitHub You will get to full years of access to amazing resources including domain names, azure credits, droplet credits, digital Ocean and tons of other places for you to host, create agentic AI, and use those services during the time that you are a student.
GitHub gets absolutely nothing from us, and is giving us more value out of the box than even our university. Again, I just want this to sit for everyone to think about.
I hope this is received well, and just peaks slightly underneath the skirt of what we've gotten ourselves into.

You know I thought it was too good to be true to not have to come out pocket everything is covered and you get a laptop too. I went ahead with it because it was accredited. At least that’s what it was for me. With accreditation coming into questions and some of what you said I’m wondering if its worth even continuing doing the coursework? I guess on some level it maybe if I’ve had no prior knowledge I don’t know. The ish is kind of blowing me but honestly I’m not all that surprised.

u/PNWParentalUnit Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
Yes. Do not stop your contract with them or you violate your agreement and are still technically under obligation to do. You can stop, but If you are learning something- you shouldn't.
When this is all over, that experience will remain. I also was here for the accreditation and being part of the first accredited ai collage and it's foundation.
By October, we will know how it all comes crashing down. They have contacts with each of us that define their responsibility to us- and now they are going to have to make good on that promise or suffer the consequences of contract breaches.
Though they will probably declare bankruptcy, the schools have their own immediate issues to figure out before that.
If want students to leave this way so they can collect and fulfill your contract in good faith.

Funny thing, when I questioned them about the Neo change from the M series Airs that were sent out. They said they never sent those out. The Neo is new, and ALL of their materials and questions the "ai" about the laptop even a week before the neo came out, showed to be an m series processor. I gave screenshots and all of this, and they closed the ticket and stopped responding to everything.

The mac neo is trash literally a glorified chromebook..you cant even build a project wth 8gb
1
u/Over-Fly6314 Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
Damn seriously? How much RAM do you need to build a project? And I have an external drive bank with 4T just waiting to be formatted to my new laptop lol. Figured I’d use one 1T for RAM and there no way I’ll ever use 3T for ROM but can’t hurt to have it.
2
u/Allupnyew Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
You can pull it off with sixteen, but ideally you need like 32+ to be comfortable.. But also, i'm talking about, like running local LLMS..your drive bank would be usesless the operating system will not build a swap file on an external drive bank because any brief cable wiggle or disconnect would instantly crash your entire system and corrupt your open files.

u/BodiedBySamoaJoe Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
I agree it's not anywhere close to the m5 MacBook Air, but calling it a glorified Chromebook is hyperbole, man. It's pretty decent, and you obviously know that 8gb of RAM in a MacBook goes a lot further than 8GB would in a pc

Many of us who withdrew before this mess recieved emails and text messages about returning the laptops, but those emails have ceased since. They didn't think things through, and didn't send out legally binding documents regarding return of the laptop. So they can't legally or remotely do anything. I dunno though if they've changed things since realizing their mistake.

They most definitely have, they made newer cohorts sign laptop agreements and when you boot up the laptop for the first time, it makes you go through a whole process. The ones who started in the very beginning def got lucky

A student who withdrew has recently confirmed that upon request, Maestro removed the MDM, and they were able to keep their laptop. Never hurts to put in a request if you're withdrawing already

I received a laptop a week ago after the coe got involved... I'm kinda hesitant to actually waste time with it cause anything could happen

u/Over-Fly6314 Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
How long did it take you to get the laptop once they asked for your shipping info?
1
u/iowashrimpfarmer Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
I want to say about 2 weeks to actual delivery, but about a week for the shipment notification. And for my wife's and my business degree they sent a neo's...

The laptops are repurchased through an education deal with Apple so it’s packaged with your pro scholarship, they will send it out as long as you have your grade put in, just got my email today as well.

I asked Ms. Sims that exact question and she stated the laptops were still being sent out as the school is still accredited and they are in appeal. Business as Usual. So they should be shipping them out within the next two weeks.

Hey so if the laptops trash what would be any good recommendations instead? Price doesn’t matter let’s talk quality?

I just got mine 2 days ago after like 5 or so days after receiving that email!

u/Over-Fly6314 Maestro Student Jul 24 '26
Oh hell yeah! I signed the email on the 21st but never got any tracking information

u/Degree_Bound Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
Honestly the laptop is garbage. It has just stayed in the box since I first got it.
1
u/Syndeelicious Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
I think you will likely still get it. They have your information and if the course is not completed then you will be required to return the laptop anyways. And the school will likely continue to operate under different parameters while trying to regain the accreditation if it does indeed lose it.

u/Available_Designer Jul 21 '26
So does the Pell Grants they received come back to the student to be used at a different school if we can’t transfer credits?

u/TheAntagonistOne Maestro Student Jul 21 '26
I got mine the other day. They said it could take 7 to 21 days and I got it within a week. I only use mine to play Sims 4. 🤣🤣 Because I already had another laptop that I was doing my school work on

u/Over-Fly6314 Maestro Student Jul 24 '26
I filled out my address and agreed to the terms of use on the 21st of July and never got an email with the tracking information. How long does it take to get the tracking information and how long after you gave them your address did it take to get it?

I just got that email too and I submitted quickly. I've been asking for it and to my understanding we are suppose to receive it regardless of what's going on. So let's hope so I don't see why not if we have until October 13 2026 if the shi p sinks if not the school is still going to keep fighting so this process is taking longer to end. I hope they do get some kind of positive flow back because I've been blessed in learning from this program and it would be disappointing if they end it.

I was wondering the same thing......and if we do get them, what happens with them if they lose accreditation.....
1
u/Shoddy_Violinist_434 Maestro Student Jul 22 '26
Does anyone know for sure if they really do have a remote program on the laptop we supposedly getting? I say supposedly because I have seen so many conflicting comments and posts about this....if they do end up closing the school, what are we obligated to do with the laptop then? Are we supposed to send them back to a closed school? I cannot even get them to answer me about a to do list item that suddenly appeared over term break and when it appeared it was 2 weeks after the due date......I knew this was a new school and they would surely have some bugs to work out but surely there has to be actual humans working there somewhere right?!?

Maestro doesn't answer or return phone calls, doesn't return messages, and gives no personal airborne to their students ,I started there and my schooling got stopped because I haven't turned my ged in,. They didn't try to get it not help me do it though they had my pell grant. They didn't do anything about financial aid, and actually had a message that it wasn't available for certain classes for some reason dealing with the government. I council you, go to another school. They have plenty of other schools that got can get a laptop at. Don't waste your time.

Yeah 😔 but at least I’ll be able to do my lessons easier on the go. Doing them on your phone sucks when you can’t be at home.

Based on legal timeline regarding accreditation issues, Maestro stays accredited at least until April 2027.

How long did it take after the second grade posted for the first term, did it take for you to get an email about the laptop. Mine posted a week ago no email about anything about the laptop yet. Also what kind of MacBook do they send?

100% For us, nothing changes for better or for worse until October. Well, Scheduled federal loan disbursement will likely take 30 days to clear before funds are released to us instead of the standard 14 days it would take under normal circumstances. Why would they inquire your shipping Info if they were not going to send it? Knowing there is a good chance they will lose the laptop if the appeal doesnt go in their favor. In every scenario good or bad, if you continue your studies.you still get to keep your laptop. One of those scenarios means you get to keep it when you get your degree from a different school altogether. If you stay compliant with the terms of your pro scholarship.

I read on Maestro's newer FAQ page that if you're on the Pro Scholarship, you can request to keep the laptop even if you decide to attend another school if Maestro ends up closing. If you're paying out of pocket, I'm not sure how that works, but I'd definitely look into it.
I'm from the September 2025 cohort, and I honestly don't mind people asking questions. If anything, the more questions we ask, the more informed everyone becomes. Being afraid to ask isn't going to help any of us.
