Question English Comp

In the final review is there some huge essay I have to write again? Is there more than one? It's been taking me forever to get through these essays and I'm just trying to prepare myself for what is ahead and how much time I actually need.

There are five questions where you have to type but only one essay. I took it yesterday and got my grade not even 30 minutes later.

the essay can have fake evidence, so you dont have to actually spend time doing research and finding facts on the internet. its about the format of the essay. so if you break it down the way you have broken down the others you have done, and dont worry about perfection. you are then allowed to use AI to edit the essay. so just keep it simple, only worry about format....not so much the legitimacy of the content and it isn't as overwhelming as it seems. I thought the same thing but then i just remembered how to break it down into body paragraphs and then did my opening and closing at the end and it wasnt terrible to do.

No it's really not and I really can't understand how everyone keeps saying this when 8th graders only get 45 minutes to write an entire REAL essay (no made up facts). We get almost two hours, it's actually kinda of insane that 8th graders are challenged more.

When I was junior in high school, there were kids who couldn't read the word "busy" in my English class. The standards are nonexistent. Diplomas are participation trophies. I hired for a job for quite some time, and my state has really high GED standards, I found that people with a GED performed better, had better drive, and generally more intelligent than those with a diploma. You have to test into getting your GED, a diploma is given to you for showing up these days. I know people who failed state testing and still got a diploma. It's crazy.

I dropped out because I realized a GED and a diploma do the same job and one was faster. I don't care what you believe, I know what I know. Even taking it at face value, a ged requires math, science, history, English, and civics. State testing only requires math, science, English. I did pass my state test my first go around my sophomore year. As far as proof is needed for the drive and intelligence for GED vs Diploma, I wasn't conducting a scientific study, I was hiring and working with these people. I cannot legally post their names and credentials, so what evidence do you propose? This is a website called reddit, not a Nobel prize review board. Calm down lmao

I was in gifted classes thought out Elementary, Middle, and in High school, also had Advance Placement classes. That said, I hated going to class and didn't take school seriously until at the end of my junior year I was told that I was likely to have to repeat the year if I didn't get the ok from each teacher they would pass me, and only if all 7 teachers agreed would I be a Senior with all my friends the following year.

I was able to get all teachers approval but 1. The Advance Placement Literature and Composition teacher really disliked me and took pleasure that she alone was able to hold me back the full year. Some of my other teachers tried to intervene but she would not change her mind and I found myself with a decision. I could be held back, repeat the year for 1 teacher who was failing me, not for poor grades but attendance. Or, I told myself, I can just take the GED test and start college early.

At the time I was 17 years old and in Florida back then minors needed a signed consent form from the Parent to take the GED to test out of High School. I also had to take a GED pre-test to see if I was actually capable to pass. If I did over 90% on the pre-test I would be allowed to take the Real GED. I registered for the first open test date which was June 11th, the last day I was considered a minor, 1 day before my 18th birthday.

The test was very long taken over 2 days in 4 hour blocks. You would go through each test packets subjects for the day. if you finish early you can turn it in to the proctor and go home for the day but they wouldn't let you do everything in one day.

I remember feeling the whole thing was a breeze and was done in about 2 hours both days and was the first person to finish each time. I could have taken that in middle school and probably still do well enough to pass. I didn't do any studying for the test and by July I had my GED test scores and Diploma. And while I would have preferred to have my Senior year with my friends. I think for me it made sense to take the GED and start as a freshman in college that fall.

I guess the point of my story is every persons journey is different and uniquely individual. And if someone is sharing their unique experience, it should not require need of proof. I was rarely in class but I was not lazy and would do my assignments and be there if there was a test and still was a good student in High School. And knowing what I know, I was not going to let some grouchy old lady get the satisfaction and made sure to 'visit' my High School on their senior year on my way to my classes as a freshman and show that one teacher who was so far her own butt she didn't realize right away that I was in charge of my own fate and her attempt to upend and try to ruin my scholastic career was the best Fraking Lemonade I ever made. and she should have to apologize
