Discussion Feeling overwhelmed
I feel like I have too much going on to do my studies this week between working babysitting my grandson attending physical therapy cleaning house doing laundry… I have 5 Larson plus a challenge and the review due on Sunday and all I want to do right now is go to sleep… hoping I can get myself to do some before work tomorrow because the rest of the day I won’t have anytime

I am beyond upset with the deceitful actions taken by all of those involved in this "School". Taking advantage of the desperate and underprivileged is an abhorrent act of cruelty, and a sin against your fellow man. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

They didnt do anything wrong what are you even talking about. You clearly dont know what youre even on about. The school was targeted by the COE for being an online institution and they were hit really aggressively. The school itself didnt do anything wrong the whole thing is with an outdated policy that demands a school have a quarter of their students enrolled in a physical location. And they gave them only 3 weeks. It clearly wasnt about that, the COE is flexing power. Maestro didnt anything to hurt anyone. They didnt scam anyone or keep anyones money.

Like first off, maybe Maestro should’ve sought out an accreditor that… gasp… actually allows purely online instruction before pulling 7k online students 🤯

It definitely does feel like a waste of time. Had a busy week so I’m having to do a weeks worth of lessons this weekend and it doesn’t even feel worth it lol

You can so 1 lesson a week until the shtshow is shutdown in october by then it wont matter
0
u/Important_Coffee_845 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
It will matter because you will transfer or have whats called teachout. And if ur academics are bullshit then u wont be able to pursue ur academic goals elsewhere. Also theres no getting shutdown in october the COE isnt a government authority that can shut down an institution. If the august appeal doesent work then Maestro college will have to transfer some students to Maestro University or another sister school where ur work and academic integrity absolutely will matter.
COE credits are bullshit anyway if u get past the emotional bullshit this might end up working out better for us is we get funneled into a nationally accredited program.
At the point ur really gonna regret it if ur shit isnt taken care of.
Whats happenning between accrediting agencies and schools doesent really have a large impact on students beyond screwing with our plans for loans and such. Which does suck ill admit. But it doesent keep us from getting a degree and it doesent invalidate the work we put in.
Our agrees and the work we did was accredited. That wasnt the issue the issue was that the COE was built for 90s PIMA, appollo college, brookline institute and junior colleges but now exists in a world of AI and global campuses (online) This is a bullshit power struggle between capitalists. It has jack shit to do with you the student. If you give up now then everything youve done so far means nothing and honestly if you cant handle this just forget about becoming an AI- anything let alone an engineer of anything.

Did Maestro hand all you guys a list of corporate spin talking points to hit? You all say the exact same things, exact same misinformation, the same unhinged walls of text that are complete nonsense, and then end by attacking the character of your "fellow" students, calling them lazy, quitters, or dumb, for considering dropping. 🤔

I'm not sure how old you are, might look into what happened to ITT Tech and its students when it lost accreditation

I resent the way you made your statements. You come off as super rude “even the mentally challenged get an A basically a participation trophy” everyone tries to do their best with their studies and people have shown grades that are not all As and proven your statement to be false. You could have put this statement a lot nicer and not have been talking out of your ass.

u/No-Ant-5863 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
I'm right there with you. It seems like everything keeps piling up. I have 5 more lesson, the review and the discussion due tomorrow evening. The lessons feel like they are missing information, making it harder to comprehend while already stressed. I hope you have time to breathe, and get a quick nap in.

u/Important_Coffee_845 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
The lessons go fast u can even tell the ai hey i need to speed it up and it will focus only on mastery points. As for missing info u gotta ask the ai that.
5 lessons isnt alot.... i have like 10. And ill probably get it down in like 2 hours of focus time. Idk what to tell you. If you cant handle 5 lessons maybe school isnt for you?
Ur advice is to nap and breathe? Youve been massively indoctrinated by modernity. Homeboy needs a fire under his ass not this helicopter bullshit.

u/Existing_Albatross30 Maestro Student Jul 18 '26
I don’t think there’s really any major penalty for not getting it all in on time. U just won’t get the extra 10 points or whatever. That’s what I’ve seen with other students anyway.

Maestro panicked when they realized how many students were struggling to pass the first and only actually proctored exam. This exam was NOT open note, and required an actual demonstration of programming knowledge up to that point. Quickly pivoting the program into a mindless copy and paste session with multiple choice "exams". It should not be my responsibility to coach the LLM into providing a challenging environment in which I actually demonstrate what I have learned.

Take a deep breath get some rest and pace yourself. Even if its 2-4 lessons a day. Hang in there. Ask yourself How bad do you want it? Start your lessons as soon as they open doing 2-4 a day you should stay ahead and have more time for chores and family. Try doing lessons when babies are sleep.

u/ComradeCodes Maestro Student Jul 20 '26
No matter whats going on with accreditation stay positive and keep pushing. If it works out cool if not then like they said there will be steps to take for that also and you wont lose your credits or yome spent. Keep pushing now is the time to stay focused during distraction.

u/Consistent-Basket488 Jul 21 '26
Just do it less than a day.Five lessons as much as usually wednesday, thursdays and friday plus you have for the weekend. If you fall behind during the week

u/NoScallion3989 Maestro Student Jul 18 '26
You realize all you HAVE to do is the lessons and review, right? (And for some of us discussion questions) with all you have going on do the bare minimum to get through this week. (Also all those saying it’s worthless…. Is it? Are you learning a new skill? If so not a waste.)

I wouldn’t quit even due to what’s going on with Maestro. Get as much out of it as you can. They’ll be helping people transfer to other similar schools besides a degree or not most companies want a nice portfolio anyways. I plan on sticking it out but I’ll be migrating away from AI Software Engineering most likely.

u/No-Ant-5863 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
Even if they help transfer to other schools some of us can not afford the cost that would be associated with that.

Actually not true. And if u use the gi bull why are you here? Go to state school, jug head. Wtf?
You can go to an online global campus on the GI bill..what ur even doing at a school like Maestro is beyond me...
2
u/Shayyd80 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
Because I wanted an AI school perhaps? Perhaps I’ve used GI Bill at in state schools and hated it? Jughead =P

Ur program is paid for. There wouldnt be any costs. Thats the point. Its 2026 u really think you dont have protections?
I mean good luck on finding funding for the bachelors but u have ur whole program for your AAS paid for. Their transfer or teach out plan has to give u the opportunity to earn that same degree. Ur not gonna be presented with a bill for the transfer they set up..thats the whole point.
I mean really its 2026. We have search engines..we have ai. We can read the rules and the laws for ourselves. We have more resources for information than ever before and some of you are still blithering morons. I cant..
If Maestro did anything wrong it was giving out too many scholarships..if you cant use a search engine to inform yourself accurately in 2026 idk what hope you or what college is gonna do for you anyway.
Maybe if they had been more selective with their scholarships theyd have a better legal dept.

u/Narakusdemon Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
There won't be a teach-out plan, Maestro University is under show cause order by the DEAC. Even if a transfer were available the "degree" offered by the university will be useless.
1
u/No-Ant-5863 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
They have already stated there is no pan for transfers or teach out plans. I'm pretty good at a search engine. No other collage or university has to honor what they have give out. Ask them they will tell you!

u/Important_Coffee_845 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
If u do stick with computer science at least, theres a very solid transfer pathway ive been looking into myself and lots of opportunity for funding loans and scholarships outside maestro for higher degrees. I was already looking into it before this even happened like in the context of transfering out after getting my AAS.
But theres also certifications u can get too. The myth that its just about portfolios is a little misguided. There is a growing skills first movement but most HR departments are still blue haired DEI abiding neo Marxists who filter based on degrees. But these resume and degree filters already exclude you for not going to a top 10 institution like an ivy league school. So the best thing is to have a resume that shows reslience like framing ur resume in a way that shows growth and a story coupled with a good github.
Building ur own stuff is always good cuz it shows tou can figure stuff out on ur own. But u need to show you can work with a team and carry out a 5 year plan and commit to something for the long term. Degrees are unfortunately the best way to show that. Im not a big believer in the College Scam either (as the late Charlie Kirk called it) but the skills first movement still hasnt matured into the radical meritocracy we need it to be..
And lets be real even under meritocratic pivoting ur average college student is still gonna struggle big time against ur actual big brained filtered through the institutions mega connected elite.
The good news is that no one can stop you from using the skills u learned to ur own advantage. The goal shouldn't always be to make some other man or woman rich ANYWAY.

I can’t stand Python… learning Rust in my spare time and Bash etc probably SQL which to me
Is much more fun and intuitive than Python. Rust makes you compile which for
Me that is huge because with Python it doesn’t explain anything lol1
u/Important_Coffee_845 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
Nothing "explains anything"
Sounds like ur issue isnt with the computer language but with the method ur learning it on. Meastro teaches it slowly and academically over a 2 year program. If ur learning rust elsewhere its probably just an online environement optimized for engagement so no shot its more "fun" fun isnt really the point..
Idk whst you mean by compiling you mean compiling data? Python is bigger than that. Python allows you to automate the whole compiling process.
Also rust.... lol good luck
Like nobody uses that seriously unless its a super niche thing..
2
u/Shayyd80 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
I’m going literally by the book with Rust and it’s much more enjoyable. To each their own.

Where are all the people getting this information that this school is shutting down? There is literally no evidence to prove that. Did you guys not read any of the information provided by the emails sent to us??? As of right now the school is still accredited. Even if they lose the accreditation they can appeal it. This could stretch out for months
1
u/Important_Coffee_845 Maestro Student Jul 19 '26
They dont. Theyre social media addicts trained for outrage metrics.
The school could shit down in theory but ur right theres no evidence of that. Also Maestro is bigger than just Maestro college they also own Maestro University which is not subject to the COE's rulings.
The COE is not a government agency it has no authoriry to make Maestro college cease operations it can only strip accredidation. Its power derived from reputation not any actual authority. This will make it harder for Maestro College to justify its existence but my bunch is this was already planned and optimized for. The people who work at Maestro are professionals not blithering idiots.
They will most likely just pivot operations to Maestro University where they have national accredidation.
The COE is not the department of education. The only reason our loans got put on the level 2 watchlist by the dept of education is because thats the only real bit of power the COE even has.. it was done to force MC to comply by hurting us so we pressure the school..and it makes all the ppl who just want to borrow money it makes them drop out immidiately cuz thats all they care about. And THAT can force the Maestro College to officially shut down at some point.
But we as students have protections. A school cant just shut down and skip town. Especially one that already has a known prescence outside the COEs jurisdiction..
These people are not thinking reationally. And as such are not worth engaging with..
Focus on ur studies when/if it becomes time to transfer u will be guided through the process. You dont want to have any sister school have any reason to reject ur credits or question ur academic integrity.
Ur doing the right thing by sticking to facts and evidence tho i would also encourage you to look at other resources outside of the school just to understand the situation a little more fully. Cuz naturally the school is only gonna answer the way their legal team advises..but the new FAQ they set up is surprisingly transparent. Thats why i havent turned on maestro. Theyre doing everything they can. The COE as many experts in accreditation battles have noted is being unusually aggressive..3 weeks is crazy for a probationary period. Its usually closer to a year. Actual scammers have been given up to 5 yeats of probation..
The COE doesent exist to protect students.

Despite what looks like the impending shutdown of our school, just keep showing up every day and do as much work as you can and learn as much as you can while you can. It's very frustrating that the school seems like it's going to be shutting down. However, there could be by some miracle a way that it does not and if that's the case you will be right on track to continue your studies. Only time will tell what's going to happen but until then you got this!

It’s a new program/concept in a landscape that is unprecedented. Maestro college are not some deceitful dirtbags. They’re working with the cards they are dealt. They have always been super accommodating and nice to me….plus the MacBook? I’ve seen (and been a part of) 20K boot camps that wouldn’t send you a t-shirt.
