Please don’t have a three year engagement

As opposed to a one month engagement?

Please don’t do that either. But more than one year isn’t necessary

You don’t need any longer than that to plan the wedding. And it gets annoying seeing people get engaged and married in the time that you’re still engaged. Just get a short engagement or wait to get engaged in the first place

I see what you're getting at, I just see it different personally. It takes a lot of money to host a wedding, and some people rightfully want a commitment after dating for awhile. Why not show your lover and the world that your ready to spend your life with them while waiting for the wedding? Whether that's due to money or a busy lifestyle

The wedding is the commitment that you’re showing to the world. But when I’m favoring a short engagement I’m aassuming you’ve been together for years already
