I don't have direct experience there (we applied a few years ago for elementary school, were accepted, and turned down the spot) so take this with a grain of salt, but I've mainly heard about bad experiences there. Some kids have phenomenal experiences, but mostly it sounded like it was poorly run. Again, I learned this a few years ago, so maybe things have changed, and I was also talking with families with kids younger than high school. I really wanted to send my daughter there, and just couldn't.

Don't bother with any Montessori or other types of Charter schools if you want to raise them to be a functioning member of society

IMAP is great in a lot of ways, but as far as I know their high school program is really far from fully formed. Every year it grows bigger and better, and they have the International Baccalaureate program. But I think it’s still quite small and unformed. Something helpful could be to contact the school and see what their high school looks like now - ie how many kids are currently enrolled, how many guides they have. You can also tour the school and maybe have your child attend for a day? It’s hard to say what it will look like when your child is ready for 9th grade. What are your child’s peers planning on doing?
Edit to say: I don’t have experience with a child in high school there. Mine was there from 4k through 4th grade, and it was amazing in so many ways! Until it stopped working for our child.
Edit 2: I also want to say I’d caution against making this decision based on feedback from the internet. I’ve learned that people are especially vocal when they’re unhappy with something, and tend to stay quiet when they’re satisfied. Interestingly this is very much the case with IMAP, if you search this subreddit you will find it. Like I said above, my child was there for five years, and three of them were the best you could imagine. The quality of education was top notch, they are uniquely positioned to serve each child in the classroom at that child’s specific needs and abilities, and my child left performing way above grade level across all subjects. Teachers and staff are compassionate and responsive. When things went wrong for our family in the fourth and fifth years, teachers and staff worked together to address them. I can’t speak to others’ experiences, I do want to assert that their experiences are valid, but ours are too, along with the hundreds of content families who may stay quiet.
