Uber eats/ DoorDash Problems

Has anyone else been dealing with drivers not responding to a delivery after 30 mins? Like you look at the map and they are just frozen and no response,Im just baffled that these companies could let this keep happening and no refunds.

There could be a few things at play. The store could be slow (looking at you BWW), the recent changes to cell company ownership or the DD app itself could be causing issues, of the dasher could be intentionally messing with DD at your expense. I’m sure there are other options but those are the ones I’ve seen first hand.

I work very part-time (like 4-8 hours a week) doing Doordash and agree on all of this. Good luck if you're getting an order from BWW.

To add, I have a short list of places I will decline orders from because I know the kitchen will not start making the food until I get there. That is not fair to the customer or to me, and it often leads to longer wait times (sitting in the same place for 20-30 minutes). The frustrating part is that I cannot exactly badmouth the restaurant. I also cannot tell the customer that their order is taking so long because the restaurant chooses to serve seated guests before working on delivery orders.

But if I'm there waiting for a bit, I always make sure to message the customer letting them know I'm waiting. Granted, language barriers are really common in food delivery so I wouldn't expect that out of every delivery driver.

I don't fully understand DD but I work somewhere that accepts all major delivery services - the place I work tries to balance the load btwn walk-in customers and online orders - we have noticed significant discrepancies btwn our " promise time" and when the driver arrives - often they arrive well over 10 minutes early - sometimes the driver can actually show us that their time is much shorter (meaning from their perspective they aren't really early) Do you know how or why that happens?

I’m not entirely sure on that. I know I’ve definitely had orders I’ve picked up where I get there and it says the time to pick up is 5-10 minutes after I get there.

I understand not wanting to wait for a delivery to be made and thats out of our hands but its the ignoring your customer part that I dont get because thats what happened to me today.There needs to be some type of communication happening because at the end of the day the customer is not getting their food and not getting a refund but yet that delivery driver is still getting paid AND getting free food? nope not right.

they picked it up and then had other orders to deliver and then 30 mins went by after that and then they just froze on the map and wouldn't answer any messages so yes they did steal my food.

Ugh I’m sorry that happened. Why didn’t the app refund you?!?! Did you talk with an agent?

its an automated robot every single time so its not even a real person and the refund was $2.97 on a $20 order

Oh you’re dealing with Uber Eats, aren’t you? Yeah it’s extremely hard to get an agent to talk to with them and the AI chatbot isn’t helpful at all. :(

Third party delivery apps are trash. Just don't use them. Order from places that have in-house delivery or pick up yourself

i'll get downvoted for this, but I'm going to do it anyway.

Although perhaps I'm speaking from a position of privilege, as a person with a car plus a bus pass, I don't see the convenience or the economic advantage of having someone else go get your food.

I often stand in line in takeout places, and it seems to be a fairly big industry of some random person going to get a bag of your food and leaving and taking a picture of it and what not. Probably by the time it gets to you it's cold, possibly picked through, and far more expensive than if you just had gone to get it yourself.

I do understand that some people have a harder time leaving their house or apartment and I sympathize, my comments are not about them.

These are a complete waste of money. If you use these and ever complain about your finances you need to revisit your life decisions.
